The isles pick could be in the 20's

If nothing changes (Which it obviously won't stay this way) the Isles would be 14th OA.  Certainly could drop a lot if they make and go on a run in the playoffs, but there are too many top teams in the East it likely won't drop too far down.  Pitts currently listed as 18OA but playoffs play a major factor, so that could be anything at this point hence why they likely throw a few conditions on it.  Even a couple mid-20's picks would be good as the draft is pretty deep.

    Stop teasing us like that.

...but yes please. I want that 1st round pick. Mid-round pick since Pens are likely to get knocked out in the first round.

That would be amazing.  Having our own, NYI's fairly high pick and then a Pens mid round 1st.  Guaranteed they would put some condition on it to move it back a year if they lost in the first round or make it a 2nd with the condition on being a 1st if they make the finals.

  3. I'm fully in the camp of trading Miller and Boeser so we can scale our young prospect and picks (Need organizational depth to try and make a proper go of it), but Demko is the one that is the most iffy.  We know that we need a strong goalie that can steal games and he will be that again next year most likely.

I'd like to keep bringing back packages of picks and prospects, but the goalie position is a tough one as Silovs is still years away.  Trading Demko and signing Jarry makes this work, but there is no guarantees in FA.  Little warry of this one unless someone overpays.

  4. Was hoping for inflated prices on Schenn, but I feel this means a couple things:

-We got fair value on what Schenn should go for (2nd or 3rd)

-We moved him to a team of his choice given his situation, rather than to anybody who paid the most.

-Because we moved him to an eastern team for the run, he has a higher % chance of just coming back to us in the offseason.

Ya.... I don't quite get the logic.. it was Ruthie that signed JT to a massive deal and gave up on Bo.... and now he will most likely have to sacrifice some cap$ by salary retention to offload him.... such a mess.... I don't see any potential FA's we can pick up in summer that's remotely close to JT's calibre though... so we just have to brace for another 2-3 years to see some playoff hockey!

I think his primary intention was to trade him, but he didn't like the package at the time.  No way you risk losing a player like Miller for free so they signed him.  Now that we have a window to recoup value, I think they go for it especially with how hot the market is this year.  Package could be better than last year even with the extension.

We don't need to replace Miller directly as he's not a game changer.  We need depth of young players who play the right way and with speed and players within the org will emerge to fill the gap with that new opportunity (+ other gaps as we likely get 3 assets back).

but my worry is, the Pens will make us eat like $2M+ per year..... then it won't be worth it.... unless we are getting 2 real good young players back... are Poulin and Pickering real good?

I would hope to not retain.  Pens offset cap with Zucker mostly and have Petry, Dumoulin, Carter and other options to make it work long term not including a rising cap.  I would hope we don't have to retain.

Did you honestly believe that Tryamkin was fleet of foot? Then or now?

Why didn’t he make the NHL, as a regular?

Tryamkin is too slow for the NHL. Full stop.

Anyone that wants him on the team is living in a fantasy world.

His skating was a positive especially for his size.  Our coaching at the time was a cluster (Willie) which is why the development within the team didn't go well.  Even his EP review says the same about his skating:

"A colossal defensive defenceman that skates well and understands both sides of the puck. Displays fluid four-way skating ability and backchecks hard. Very proactive stick and adheres to the physical side of the game. Finds lanes and tracks the puck well in his own end, and will pressure the opposition to make hastier decisions. Great vision and willingness to move the puck up-ice quickly. Possesses a very strong shot and natural puck skills. Very good positionally in the offensive end and knows how to hem the opponents in. Excellent board play and always looks to keep opponents to the outside. [EP]"

I think your full stop needs to start back up again.

I'd argue McCann could have been developed within the Canucks organization but hey Gudbransson is a thing .

But the Canucks have struck out in reclamation projects the past 10 years including first founders like Baetrschi and Goldoubin

Baer was a positive reclamation project until he was derailed by concussions.  Naslund and Bertuzzi were obviously major ones, and we have had our fair share of failures.  This one is no risk, and he has the potential to be something pretty good.  Shown it in the KHL but didn't really have the opportunity in NY unless he jumped into top 6 production instantly.

We have 23 games in a low risk environment to see what we have in him and hopefully a few other reclamation projects.
