  1. I think the CBC colour guy ( Craig Simpson ? ) demanding a 'delay of game' diving penalty was worse than the emotionally charged biased fans. ( going on memory only. Don't have any confirmation proof. If any CDCer taped that game via HNIC I would really appreciate that 'fact' being confirmed or shot down. Thanks. )
  2. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=29376 This should answer your confusion.
  3. Not sure if you think I don't like Daniel. I love the Sedins. My comment was the Captain Hindsight moment where you realize that Henrik ended up being the alpha Sedin ( not by much and a lot has to do with being a centre ). My comment was a revisit of the pre draft Sedin thoughts. Daniel was highly regarded, Henrik, not so much ( in a very weak draft ). Using those Capt. H goggles, Henrik should be #22 and Daniel #33.
  4. Great list, but, as a 'nuck fan who has suffered unrequited hopes and expectations, I don't like to place too many new hopes on Pettersson. Sort of a 'don't tempt Murphy' situation. Murphy doesn't seem to care for the mighty Canucks. The list is a reminder that in the 1999 draft, Daniel was rated higher than Henrik. Iirc, #33 was rated as low as #10. It is also a reminder of what a great job Brian Burke did to unite the twins. It'll probably be his 'legacy' moment. I wonder what the twins would have done if drafted by different teams.
  5. Am I missing something here. We have @R.Dahlin26 stirring the pot. Just keeps repeating a very weak point, over and over again. Actually the point is moot. It's the 'pot stirring' that is important. He's loving all your responses.
  6. Iirc, CBC's colour guy ( Craig Simpson ? ) demanded that Raymond be given a 'delay of game' penalty for diving. I don't think that he nor CBC ever apologized for that. Couldn't believe how anti Canuck HNIC was. As far as Tryamkin goes, I'm a huge fan. Used to start laughing as he rumbled down the ice with that helmet that was 3 sizes too small perched on his head. His offensive game was surprisingly good. Not a huge fan of Russian draft picks, but I want the big guy back !
  7. Could be, but the words "after being expelled from the country. " are tad more negative than just moving away. This might come down to the google translate thing. Innocent words may have become warped in translation.
  8. Very interesting pick. Just going by his HockeyDB page, your analysis seems to be spot on. ( although they do list him as a left handed shooter ). I wonder what JB ( with his new 4 year contract in place ) has in mind for him. The way you talk of his D+3 year makes it seem like you are expecting him to play an over age year. ( is my math out to lunch here ?.....seems he's AHL eligible next season. )
  9. As a 25% Swede ( thanks to my wonderful grandfather ) I find the bolded to be very interesting. Sweden doesn't have a rep for throwing folk out of the country. Is there a politician called Trumpsson there ?
  10. CDCers have a long list of 'try this','try that' after the TDL. I would like to include putting BG in a more offence oriented role post TDL. I do believe he can contribute in that area.
  11. Sorry to go off topic. Last night was mental health awareness night. RR #37 being foremost in everyone's thoughts. My question: Did Rick Blight ( and Gary Lupul ) not also become the victim/s of this overwhelming problem ?
  12. I think that JB might be a bit gun shy when signing border line NHLers to ELCs. One of his first signings, MacKenze Stewart, is still here almost 3 years later. Most ELCs last 3 years ( not all ) and there have been a small number of debatable choices. Keeping the roster size well below 50 can be important. I see JB trying to talk players like Brassard into taking AHL contracts. This would not work if other teams liked the player enough to offer an NHL contract, but might help keep border line players in our system.
  13. Thanks to SID for the links. Interesting. My two current favourites, assuming we draft at #7/#8 are ranked at 10 and 21. My drafting preferences have been mediocre at best, but it will be interesting to follow these predictions. PS.....assuming that Quinton Hughes is taller than 5'1 !
  14. Still waiting for the statistics crowd to give us an 'analytics' mock draft. Come on J.D.Burke/ CanucksArmy/ Corsi lovers, tell us who will be the players to draft ! I have a feeling that they will probably wait a couple of years and then tell us who we should have drafted.
  15. I went back and looked up 7 mock drafts from that year. All except one had the top five as per the actual draft. One replaced Draisaitl with Ritchie. As far as Larkin and Pastrnak went, Larkin moved between 12 and 25 and was not in the top 30 in one mock. Pastrnak moved between 20 and 28 and was not in the top 30 in two mocks. If Larkin and Pastrnak were your choices at the time, kudos, you're a great scout. For the record, I was rooting for Glass in this draft. I was hoping that Vilardi would not come to us and I didn't even have Pettersson on my radar.
  16. It would be easier to take your anti Canuck stirring if you dropped the Toronto area code from your name. Wai Lai, when used phonetically, kind of sounds like 'waylay'. So waylay from Toronto, why should CDC hang on your every word ?
  17. I thought the ELC slide was a CHL phenomenon. Surely, once you're in the pros, your contract has no 'slide' component.
  18. Looking back through this forum........saw the 'milkman' play. What fun. He was a one trick pony. A great shot. Nothing else. Was put out on the power play and just wailed away from the point. Sometimes thought that Jordan Subban might be our new age 'milkman'.
  19. Yes ( that's the pic that came up ! ) Still playing. 1st round pick 1996. Past 10 years in Zug. Looks like a great place to live.
  20. Totally, completely disagree. In the SN post article comments sections, there is an angry, anti Canuck poster named 'Yummy'. Can I assume the two of you are related ?
  21. Your analytical expectations of success from a 5th round pick are probably statistically spot on. The mighty 'nucks have had somewhat successful moments via the 5th round. Without going too far back. Adrian Aucoin,Gino Odjick, Scott Walker, Kevin Bieksa, Mike Brown ( the good one ) and more recently, Frank ( asset management ) Corrado, Gustav Forsling and current 'nuck Ben Hutton. I haven't done the math, but, if this falls in the 5%-15% success zone, I'm a happy 'nuck fan.
  22. Edler is looked down upon for reasons that are too common on CDC. Megna suffered the same fate. Yannick Weber also. Because a lack of depth in the Canucks roster, they are forced to play above their comfort zone. Edler should be a 2nd pairing dman. Megna was a 12/ 13 forward. Weber is now being used the way he should have been used when here. Edler should be playing under 20 min game, not 22-24 min.. The reason he does is because he's the best we have, not because he's a bona fide #1. Megna should have been praised for being the 'best' available to fill in on the first line. Instead these players get vilified. I would love to see a situation where coach Green feels comfortable playing AE on his 2nd pairing. It's just not possible with this roster.
  23. Have mercy on CDC if we get to draft Dahlin. The confusion between Dahlen/ Dahlin is already evident. Not a problem ? Google 'stetcher' on the forums search option. 68 pages of reference, including several from a well respected, veteran poster who uses Stecher's pic in his ID pic.. So.....let's draft that Rasmus Dahlen kid or maybe Jonathan Dahlin. They're both good !
  24. Yes, I think you have read the play correctly. I probably owe Subban an apology !
