  1. I think people wanted more of a response to Green making it seem like he was scratching him. Especially for a player thats in an energy role. That being said, with the amount of times we're chasing vs dictating the play its no wonder why the team is dead tired half-way through the season.
  2. The only way I see Hutton gone is if Juolevi is ready to be sheltered for a 3rd pairing role. Unless of course Travis is willing to put one of the LD into RD. Quinn has previously said he's comfortable in the RD as well but it'll be up to the coaching staff.
  3. His dad used to be a player development coach for the Leafs, so he is getting good advice about the different paths he can take, and was probably even told that the AHL was a good option. However with Quinn's skillset and IQ, he probably wont see time there.
  4. This draft was key to drafting Pettersson in 2017, so I'm glad it happened and they learned from it. It was JB who was asking the scouting team how they missed on Pastrnak, and it was mostly because he was playing in the Allsvenskan. After that the scouting team took more time to scout the league and put more value of production in that league which led to them ranking Pettersson top 2 in their 2017 draft list.
  5. Last season he had a lot of space when he played with the sedins on the PP. I maybe wrong but when he was playing with Vanek last season they would get 2nd pairing D with Sedins getting the first pair of D. It might be a sophomore slump as well, but this season it feels like he doesn't have as much space to shoot as he did last season.
  6. I think the only thing that hinders Brock from being able to carry his own line is his skating. It seems like sometimes he isn't fast enough to separate himself from the D and make a play. He's a really good sniper, but will need to have a talented playmaker to unlock his potential of 40-50 goals.
  7. Good to know he's working on his offence, and it's showing this year. If he can have a Bieksa like trajectory, he'll be a really valuable to the team. Physical and reliable defensively but can also chip in offence once in a while. One thing I noticed is he's able to change the angle of the shots around a defensemen to get the shot through to the crease.
  8. For those interested, Craig Button has Hughes at #1. A bit of a change from last year where Pronman had Pettersson at #9 and Button had him at #1. https://www.tsn.ca/russian-wingers-top-tsn-s-ranking-of-nhl-affiliated-prospects-1.1241872
  9. https://theathletic.com/761041/2019/01/15/pronman-midseason-nhl-prospect-ranking/ From Corey Pronman's NHL prospect rankings. He has Hughes as #1, last year it was Rasmus Dahlin with Pettersson being #9.
  10. Baertschi, Virtanen, Goldobin are players in our top 9 who came from that system.. Bo Horvat didnt need AHL and Pettersson and Boeser came in as stars already. The bottom 6 consists of veterans but will likely be replaced by these guys coming up (MacEwen, Gaudette, Gaunce). Also theres a chance for Dahlen and Lind to make the top 6 if they up their pace and round out their game.
  11. In a corporate structure, the director level usually builds the team and establishes the vision, he's not doing the actual player development.
  12. I dont think you understand how Green wants to play. He want's to have an uptempo transition game with Dman joining the rush as much as possible, similar to Vegas' style. He's been saying it in interviews throughout the year. Problem is he doesn't have the personnel to do it. The closest is Pouliot even with all his deficiencies which is why he plays him so much after so much bad defensive plays.
  13. Green seemed like a good coach to teach younger players, he got the likes of Goldobin, Virtanen to be NHLers. We need someone like him in Utica. Also as far as I remember, we tried to get another coach who eventually got hired by another team, thus leaving us with the 2nd choice in cull.
  14. I agree, I think having him on the first 2 lines puts too much pressure on him to produce. He's perfect for our 3rd line though.
  15. As we're looking to pick in the later half of the lottery picks, I'm liking Victor Soderstrom more and more. Fast / Mobile two-way RHD. Plays physical but is not that big at 5'11.
  16. Given our team's inability to create any offence other then Pettersson while still being porous defensively, I am patiently waiting until the day we get Hughes to make high risk plays for us.
  17. Quinn's shot is bad, but the important thing is he get's it through. He's never going to beat a goalie clean, but he'll get pucks through and cause havoc in the crease. Mixed in with his skating and playmaking, thats a pretty good combo for an offensive defenseman.
  18. Green wants to play an uptempo fast transition game but he doesn't have the dman to transition fast enough. Hughes and Juolevi will help. Hughes also has some pretty good finishers to pass to in Boeser and Pettersson which could inflate his #'s
  19. Based on watching, Hughes defensive style is strong when he's defending an odd man rush. He cuts the puck carriers space fast and usually gets his stick on the puck, preventing a zone entry or the opposing team set up.
  20. I like the Bieksa comparsion but I think he's a bit more mobile. It's good he's producing as the #1 offensive and defensive option on the moose jaw blueline.
  21. I think he'll play the 4 years in Northeastern. When he was drafted Brackett said one of the reasons was that he would be growing in that program while he bulks up. Also NCAA players have more time in the gym.
  22. Noticed Horvat losing a lot of draws tonight, as well as not being able to keep possession of the puck as much. However he got better when he was placed with Eriksson and Roussel in the 3rd. Maybe just a case of Virtanen not being able to play the possession game in the zone as much as a north south game.
  23. Anyone know if Madden is elligible for next years WJC team as well?
  24. This is a positive as one of the massive needs on our blue line is getting the puck out of our zone and up ice.
  25. Kakko is sounding more and more like the perfect linemate to Pettersson and Boeser.
