  1. Yes, really nice to see proper development of the prospects a la Detroit. I haven't seen Dahlen play in Utica, but my feeling is that apart from the new surroundings, smaller ice etc. he also isn't a player that drives the play on his own. I can imagine that being a problem in Utica where the talent isn't always there to get him the puck. He's not a perimeter player though, and has proven himself to be clutch around the net, so I think it will come for him once he gains a little experience and confidence and gets stronger and faster. Still hope he turns into a top 6 winger.
  2. Nah, would’ve been better if he had started slow and not been on that list ;-)
  3. Also that double minor for high-sticking he got by mistake against Pittsburgh will screw up his stats since he hasn’t played that many games yet. But he still needs to be effective without putting his team in the pk so agree on that.
  4. There was this one time last game where Jake came down the left and tried cutting to the inside of the defender going straight for the net. It didn’t succeed - although I thought it should’ve been a tripping call - but Ibrealky hope to see more of that instead of perimeter outside shots. Power your way to the net Jake and good things will happen.
  5. Yeah he looked really pissed and for good reason too
  6. Nice problem to have though with deserving players waiting for their chance... Mac’s time will come if he continues to perform
  7. Way too early too tell is my opinion. Mac looks like he’s ready now but that’s in the minors on a hot streak probably. The major’s a different level. Gadj can make the step in 2020 and be ready for prime time in 2021 when we’re contending...
  8. WTF, how and why did he ever take 19 faceoffs?!

Yeah but NVM he's still a draft bust ;-)
  10. Really hope Mac and Gadj pans out. Love EP, QH, Goldy, Dahlen etc. but we need some grit as well.

Yeah, but if you accept that OJ is not Burns or Erik Karlsson etc and that he will be better than Edler offensively and in time about equal defensively than that's one hell of a defender and a #2 D on any team. Lets hope for that.

Not saying you are wrong, I agree that +/- says something in the long run and Tanev is really a stud defensively. Though, take into account the games played the last 2-3 seasons and the heavy lifting Edler's done when Tanev's been injured and it's not as crystal clear. And of course, what it comes down to is who you'd choose for a cup run. As a role player Tanev's one of the best in the league defensively, but for most teams and seasons I'd still choose Edler simply because he's the better player.

Yep, judging from last game where no PP time and Tanev got 30 secs more ice time you are right. Stll, if Edler's just slow and they get the same ice time 5 vs 5, why is that? And I'd still say Edler's more trusted on 5 vs 5 althought that of course remains to be seen throughout the season

Nah, I agree that I'd take Stetcher and Guddy over Pouliot and Hutton and that Edler's more robust, but mainly he's just a better player, like a #2-3 d on a contender whereas Tanev's a #3-4 IMHO.

Those are definitely valid points and concerns - but one question, why do you think every canucks coach play Edler 5 mins more per game vs Tanev?

Still very happy to hear how highly Ryan Johnson thinks of Ollis performance overall. If he can be a 2-3 D for years and get the puck on the blade for Brock and EP it’ll make a big difference for the rebuild.
  17. It was Hutton that got lost in the ozone so Edler wasn’t on the ice.
  18. Nice game winner but still didn’t think he played a very good game. Seems off and a little late in to most situations, really feel it’s Horvat and Baertschi driving that line and that Brock’s a bit of a drag on them. But its nice to see the points starting to pile up anyway, maybe he gets going as his confidence grows.
  19. Granlund is a pro already and hard to tell if he had a down year offensively before injury or was just brilliant in a defensive shutdown role. Maybe both? However, unlike Goldy and several other forward prospects there is nothing to gain for him in the farm, so in my opinion he wouldn’t have been resigned - even on a one year show me type of deal - at all if management didn’t believe in him. But of course, if he doesn’t prove he’s worth a spot, sure he should be waived, it’s just not very likely since he can contribute on both offense and defense up and down the lineup.
  20. Like someone mentioned Baer would look really good on a contender’s third line. Maybe with the nucks in due time... Suppose both Baer and Roussel are LW but would like to see them on a line with EP playing C.
  21. Not saying you are wrong but Karlsson earned his spot with Torts and Columbus as a defensive forward before he went to Vegas. Somehow I don’t see Goldy doing that ;-) But agree on Goldys potential.
