  1. It is already a moral victory for Habs. They have shown that Leafs is not a contender.
  2. That is awesome, congratulation. Hopefully it will work out for you. I am a big fan of this sort of books and would love to read yours.
  3. https://thebulletin.org/2021/05/the-origin-of-covid-did-people-or-nature-open-pandoras-box-at-wuhan/ "By the end of this article, you may have learned a lot about the molecular biology of viruses. I will try to keep this process as painless as possible. But the science cannot be avoided because for now, and probably for a long time hence, it offers the only sure thread through the maze. The virus that caused the pandemic is known officially as SARS-CoV-2, but can be called SARS2 for short. As many people know, there are two main theories about its origin. One is that it jumped naturally from wildlife to people. The other is that the virus was under study in a lab, from which it escaped. It matters a great deal which is the case if we hope to prevent a second such occurrence. I’ll describe the two theories, explain why each is plausible, and then ask which provides the better explanation of the available facts. It’s important to note that so far there is no direct evidence for either theory. Each depends on a set of reasonable conjectures but so far lacks proof. So I have only clues, not conclusions, to offer. " Interesting read...
  4. Team’s effort level tonight will speak volumes about team’s desire to have Green as a head coach, IMHO
  5. My kids were delivering "Burnaby Now" in 1998-99 when we came to Canada, they loved it because it was the first time in their lives there were making money. I think that experience helped them later in lives
  6. British Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency provided new data for Thrombo-embolic events: " These events occurred in 93 women and 75 men aged from 18 to 93 years and the overall case fatality rate was 19% with 32 deaths. One case was reported after a second dose. Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis was reported in 77 cases (average age 47 years) and 91 had other major thromboembolic events (average age 55 years) with concurrent thrombocytopenia. The estimated number of first doses of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca administered in the UK by 14th April was 21.2 million giving an overall case incidence of 7.9 per million doses. 7. Good source of information, even though it is in German. It has a column with 7- days average rate of infection pet 100 000 population. Neuinfektionen (7‑Tage‑Inzidenz) Also, infection rate (Infektionsrate) and mortality rate (Letalitätsrate) Also, tag “impfungen” has all up to the date information about vaccination (Canada over 26% now) https://www.corona-in-zahlen.de/weltweit/
  8. Seems too late. Variant is already in Canada. But, better late than never
  9. As crazy as it sounds, but Habs will have 3 games in 4 nights starting today. Canucks plays 2 times during the same time. So,by the end of Saturday Canucks might be just 4 poins out (with 2 wins vs. Ottawa) with 3 games in hand vs. Hubs. So, go Oilers and Flames.
  10. In addition to that - this situation creates a perfect conditions for virus mutations.
  11. Agreed , Deb. New variants are targeting younger folks. In my company all 40+ old have registered for a shot in the next 2 weeks.
  12. Maybe 50% at most. Back in the day, when I played student basketball in the former Soviet Union, in a fair high level, a had to play a few times after a week off due to flu/cold. It was tough, everything was off, I could not feel ball, court, etc. Covid is much worse. I think effort will be there, it is all I am asking for. GCG
  13. I think 4 and all of them during 3 games in 4 nights Tough schedule evenfor the best times...
  14. At this point my main concern is the health of our players Forget about this season, it is done. Get healthy, have a great summer of training and come back next season stronger than ever.
  15. OK, so we are in the second year of this pandemic and we still have shortages everywhere. I really want to know why?
  16. Got my first shot of Moderna today. Very well orginized process, the whole thing took me 25 min including 15 min. mandatory obsevation after the shot. Thank you, volunteers. Well done,Poirier 618 , Coquitlam.
  17. Yes, I am thinking that some protection is better than no protection. Thank you,
  18. https://financialpost.com/diane-francis/diane-francis-canada-is-ignoring-the-science-on-second-doses I am scheduled to receive a first shot this coming Friday (Pfizer or Moderna). Now I am thinking maybe I should wait until the second shot will be available?
  19. Government and health officials had over a year to increase ICU capacity. I wonder what was done on this front?
  20. France is set for a really strong push on vaccination front They have created 46 huge vaccination centres across France, using soccer stadiums The plan is to vaccinate 500 000 people a day starting next week
  21. I am very sorry, but I think that closing restaurants is a wrong move. I was at IKEA store today- the place was completely full, so , how such store can be less dangerous than a restaurant where 20-40 people eating at most, far from each other? Was at Coquitlam centre mall on Friday- same story, place was full I would like to see an evidence on transmission rate at restaurants . Before that closure we were told, that it was safer to eat out, than host people at home. Now looks like this is not a case anymore.
