  1. 8 million for 7 years for an elite puck moving defenseman that will probably have a bump in play, playing with Hughes is not a bad contract. He's going to remain elite for most of that contract.
  2. I don't think people realize how close JB was to acquiring OEL, and I think ultimately JB will be successful in landing this very big piece to the Canucks being a contender. It's become evidently clear that the top teams in the league have three excellent defenders, and by acquiring OEL, JB might just have one of the top trios in the league. With guys like OJ (who looks fantastic and getting better with every shift and will be ready to replace Edler next season), and Rathbone ready to make the jump next year on the left side with Myers the Canucks might just have the best D corps in the league. The OEL deal will happen prior to the deadline and will look something like this: OEL (8.25 x7= 57.75 mil) for ERIKSSON (6.0 x 2= 12.0 mil) GAUDETTE (950k x 1) Protected 1st- 2021 (Like Miller deal), but if Canucks retain their 1st this year, then Arizona receives an unprotected 1st next year and a 2nd this year.
  3. Wow, your drinking the Kool aide, big time! Demko is not even close to being the top goalie prospect in hockey. That's friggin halarious, oh let me guess you and the other idiots who thought the kid was the real deal from the playoff series against Vegas. That was our opportunity to sell high, and get a 1st rounder in the upcoming draft. We're still building and the strong goaltending provided by Markstrom allowed for the club to play a style that suits our high end players.
  4. 35 years of Canuck fandom has had its amazing highs, and some pretty low lows. This year something feels very, very, very off. Covid-19 has caused "Bubble hockey" where the team was definitely punching out of it's weight class, but really exciting to watch. Coming into this season I had tempered expectations, because let's face it they were only a .500 team last year, Where the wheels have fallen off; 1.Why did we let Markstrom (Petersson's only good friend on the team) walk for nothing? Why did we not trade Demko right after he shone in the series against Vegas? We would have gotten a good 1st round pick for sure. It's called asset management. Markstrom 6years for 6 million was completely fair. We now witnessing what bad goaltending results in. 2. Letting Tanev walk was just as laughable, as he had solidified his position as the 1st best defender on the team and the very best fit for Hughes, if your doubting just ask Hughes, I did, and he's pissed. 3. Benning gave up Madden a blue chip prospect and a 2nd for a really good top 6 forward that solidified our top 6, why did he abandon this plan? Why sign a forward in Virtanen for 2.55 million, and your truly don't believe in him, and you even said as much. I love JB, but whoever's behind these moves needs to pay a price. With all this said, some will say "oh, easy to say now, but no one has a crystal ball,,," Are you kidding a blind man could see this a mile a way. Until this team get's this sorted out, I'm done, it's way to painful to watch, it's like seeing someone you care about destroy themselves. This won't be fixed through free agency, only through a few more years of strong drafting and a couple of astute trades.
  5. Are you watching the games? He looks amazing, and I think he and Petey will develop serious chemistry.
  6. Hoglander needs to be playing with Petersson and Miller, and for that matter should sub-plant Boeser on the Power play. Hoglanders skill set, speed, and will is a better match with Petey. Thoughts?
  7. We're not winning many games when we give up at least three every game. To think we had a Vezina type goalie in Markstrom just to save 1.5 million.
  8. Mark my words, Hoglander Petey Boeser Miller Horvat Virtanen Roussel Sutter Gaudette Motte Beagle MacEwen Hughes Hamonic Edler Schmidt OJ Myers Pearson is dealt for a defensive prospect.
  9. No thanks to RNH, too small, and will want too much money. Plus he's played with the best player in the world for a few years and done what exactly...nothing.
  10. Jake is in the best shape of his life right now, and will get 20 goals on the third line, and considering there is 26 less games this year that's seriously impressive.
  11. That's right 56 games, and I truly believe Hoglander is that good. He will play on Petey's leftwing, and they will be magic together. He will be the third most talented player on the team. Just wait and see.
  12. Best Team Colorado Avalanche Worst Team Anaheim Ducks Hart Connor McDavid Norris Quinn Hughes (60-65pts) Vezina Jacob Markstrom Calder Nils Hoglander (55-65pts)
  13. Podkolzin needs to be compared to first round talent. His skill and work ethic put him in a category of Gabriel Landeskog. If he keeps growing and turns into a true power forward he could be a smaller version of Todd Bertuzzi. This is a bang on comparison- Gabriel Landeskog is whast I think iPod will turnout to be. He will look amazing on Horvat's right-side, and Miller will play on Bo's left-side. Leaving Hoglander, Petey, and Boeser as our first line. A top 6 built the right way, and young enough to grow together.
  14. Podz will be verbatim Victor Arvedson, and I would take that all day long. He will help drive the second or third line for ten years. The real story will be Hoglander, as he'll sub-plant Miller as Petey's LW and win rookie of the year. Hoglander might be as good as Barzal. I know that sounds like a deep-reach, but he on his own can create offence, add him with Petey and Boeser and watch out. This allows the team to move off of Pearson for a defensive prospect or 2nd round pick, and add Hoffman. Miller- Horvat- Hoffman = a very good, hard to play against second line. iPod slots into a kid line with Gaudette and Virtanen, and I think this becomes a very quick, tenacious, and as a group has plenty of upside as a line.
