  1. With the addition of Connor Garland, there is no doubt in my mind the number one line on this team is Horvat, Garland, and Pearson. They compete harder, and they seem to have better overall line chemistry. I do think if we subbed out Pearson with Hoglander it becomes even more dynamic, but Greener just doesn't have that in him, as he to a fault remains loyal to his veterans. I can't wait to see how the bottom two lines fill out when Motte and Sutter get back because I do think Motte and Hoglander might have some nice chemistry as well, speed matched, play drivers, relentless checkers, and both have offensive abilities.
  2. PACIFIC DIVISION 1. Vegas - 104 pts 2. Edmonton - 102 pts 3. Vancouver - 101 pts 4. Los Angeles- 90 pts 5. San Jose- 88 pts 6. Calgary - 85 pts 7. Seattle - 82 pts 8. Anaheim- 79 pts Rathbone and Podkolzin will be finalists in the rookie of the year award. Pettersson will break the 100 pts/season mark, scoring 41 goals. OEL will recapture his Norris ways. Hoglander will supplant Boeser from the top line. Garland- Horvat- Boeser will be as equally dangerous as the perceived first line. There will be a massive deal for a true #1 right side defender that will include Myers + +, and Canuck fans will be pissed because its a Bruin coming the other way- I think JB gets hyper focused on trying to acquire Charlie McAvoy and Jake Debrusk. The last prediction is not one at all. The Canucks made an amazing pick with their 41st OA pick, Danila Kilmovich is going to be a superstar in the NHL
  3. We won't be in the bidding for Parayko, but if Podkolzin, Garland, and Hoglander all look like legit top 6 forwards then we'll have forward depth to deal from for a legit, young first line RD.
  4. The only way I trade Hughes is if we are getting back Nico Hischier, Ty Smith, 2022 unprotected 1st round, and 2023 unprotected 1st round. I actually think that both teams would be happy, as NJ overpays a bit, but has the Hughes Bros. to lead them for the next 10 years. With that said I would put Nico with Pettey and JT, and deal Boeser to Vegas straight up for Theadore. This puts the Canucks into the very best position to win a cup and be a heavy favorite for years to come. Look at this lineup: Miller- Pettersson- Hischier Hoglander - Horvat- Garland Pearson - Dickerson - Podkolzin Motte - Sutter - Highmore OEL - Theadore Smith - Myers Rathbone - Hamonic The really amazing part about this is our defence is even stronger with this lineup then with Hughes in it. Plus what could JB do with the two probable lottery picks over the next two years. These two moves would set this team up for years. Thoughts...
  5. Your hilarious, Lind will never be Dickinson, which isn't saying much, but the third line is complete. So I'm completely fine with the cost. A third line center at 1.5 million that plays hard both ways, and this part is important- is a NHL'er not an AHL'er, good job JB.
  6. "My sources" not Eklund...LOL are indicating that JB is working on a huge deal. Boeser + Schmidt to Columbus for Domi + Jones. As well, JB still wants Reinhart from Buffalo, and the cost of the 9th OA is palatable for JB, it's the extra pieces that is posing a problem. This deal could be a draft day event. JB is also looking at swinging that 9th OA for a deal which includes Manson and Rackell from Anahiem. This might be the better option for the Canucks.
  7. This is actually a really good trade, for both teams. If we can't sign Jones long term we'll get a bucket load of assets at the deadline.
  8. Good, Edler still wants 4.5 million per year for 3 years, so bye bye Edler. Thanks for completely holding the club hostage, when you could have accepted a trade and possibly returned the club a 1st rounder in the last few trade deadline events. His true colors coming out now, as now he's willing to move cities because the Canucks don't want to pay him what he thinks he's worth. Can't skate, won't take the body anymore, makes lazy plays, and on the decline, sounds like 2 million per season would be totally fair for the 3rd pair LD.
  9. There is no way the Canucks are interested in Hyman at the price and term that he's expecting, so a hard pass says JB. We already have a lower end Hyman in Motte, and a more skilled version of Hyman in Podkolzin. So no thanks.
  10. Sorry, we're not going to get rid of erikkson's contract this year, but look what we have to look forward to for next year. Erikkson, Luongo's, Beagles, and Roussel's deals off our cap. Feels good...
  11. Granlund and Roslovic do play a 200' game, but they also provide a playmaking piece that allows for the third line to provide scoring as well. All good teams in the NHL have three lines that can contribute.
  12. With the expansion draft, Entry draft, and Free Agency all set to occur in the next two weeks things are going to get crazy for many NHL clubs, and I predict this will include the Canucks. First of all, the Canucks are poised to improve their roster as they have 1 and maybe 2 spots on their protection list that could be vastly improved. They're a few teams out there that stand to loose a very good player for nothing. Some GM's will be fine with that as they'll loose only one player, but in the case of Tampa, they'll loose a good player and still be way over the cap, so they'll be looking to shed a few players. To be honest with you there will be countless teams lined up to expose these vulnerable teams and the asking price will be way to high for the Canucks to effectively maximize their offerings...9th OA pick. So this leaves the trade route, and I believe there is already a deal in place which involves our first and DiPietro for Sam Rienhart. This deal is contingent on who is available when that 9th pick is on the clock, as Buffalo loves McTavish. This deal will be announced on the draft floor. From there the Canucks will look to the UFA market to pick up their RD, and with a flat cap, JB will sign A. Larsson from the Oilers to a 6 year deal at 5.5 million per year. JB has recently made offers to Edler and Hammonic, which if he manages to sign one of the two I hope it's Hamonic because he would look amazing with Rathbone as the second pair. The last piece is the Nate Schmidt Sega. Schmidt wants out, and never actually wanted to be here, the truth is in how he played- terrible. He doesn't want to play in Canada, but would love the opportunity to be a number one or two on a team like Columbus. With Seth Jones looking to go to market in the near future, Schmidt could be a viable option-with cost certainty, and stability that the Blue Jackets will be looking for. The Canucks flip Schmidt for Jack Roslovic and a 5th. Roslovic has one more year at 1.8 million which makes him a perfect fit for the Canucks, not to mention he would be that perfect third line center. In summary, Miller- Pettersson- Boeser Hoglander - Horvat - Rienhart Top 6 looks very legit!!!! Pearson - Roslovic- Podkolzin Oh look a third line that can score and compete!!!!! Motte - Graovac - Lockwood/ Mackewen/ Highmore A fourth line that can crash, get in on the forecheck, and add a goal every 2-3 games. Hughes - Larsson Strong first pair defender tandem. Should be better than Hughes/Tanev combo. Rathbone - Hamonic Hamonic is sound enough that Rathbone takes a massive step and is in the Rookie of the year talks. OJ/Edler - Myers If Edler is back, this might be the best third pair in the league, if not, Myers helps develop OJ into the next Edler.
  13. The real, real question is will the 9th over all pick be able to help the Canucks now or do we need to wait a few years and keep our fingers crossed. Or we can move the pick along with Dipetro and get a bonafide top 6 player that will help us now and for years to come. This is an absolute no brainer if you want to build a championship team.
  14. He's going to be available, as they can only protect 7 forwards and 5 have NTC/NMC. Plus he'll be in line for a big bump in salary.
  15. Why would you drop Miller to the third line, this is a terrible idea, hasn't he proven that he's a top line- play driver that should ride shotgun with Petey enough for ya? If I were Miller and you treated me like that, I would be requesting a trade.
  16. It helps because it does exactly what you said, it gives a cap crunch team extra wiggle room, that would not have otherwise.
  17. So I've been listening to some of the local sports talk radio, and thinking about who the Canucks management team might be targeting from a trade, UFA, expansion draft pick-up(s), and the armature draft perspective. The team has a number of very obvious needs; A legit top line Right shot defender to pair with Hughes, a playmaking winger to play with Horvat, and a versatile-speedy center for the third line. They also need to add sizeable skilled wingers that could score 20 goals and get 150 hits per year (Really hard to find, and expensive). So here's what I think the Canucks need to do. Firstly, say goodbye to: Edler- Too slow, too clunky. Sutter- Too slow, doesn't pass. Baertschi- He's already gone. Vesey- Really poor end of the year addition. Boyd- ^^^^ Virtanen- Enough is enough- I don't even care if he becomes a good player, he needs a change of scenery... Holtby- Hopefully, Seattle selects him, and if not give them a pick in order to do so. Hawryluck- Please don't let him play in a Canuck uniform again. Michalelis- ^^^^ Schmidt- Trade In the expansion draft the Canucks have a ton of opportunity to dramatically improve their roster; St. Louis and Tampa are breaming full of forward depth. St. Louis is in a bind and will be looking to move a player like Jordan Kyrou, who is an RFA and will be looking for a contract like Virtanen's maybe even a little richer. Kyrou would be an absolute perfect fit with Horvat as he's very speedy and creative, and honestly if Hoglander completed that line I think Horvat will take another step offensively, which probably translates to 65+ points. Jordan Kyrou for Beagles LTIR cap savvy contract and a 2021 2nd. Tampa Bay is in the same boat, a plethora of forwards and no cap space, at all... Yanni Gourde is the perfect third line center that to be honest with is a true "jack of all trades" forward, he reminds me of Hansen with more skill. Gourde would be a really nice fit with our incoming rookie forward Podkolzin- a possible Rookie of the year candidate, and Pearson would strengthen that third line as well. Yanni Gourde for Ferland's LTIR cap savvy contract and a 2021 3rd. Everyone is hot and heavy about Seth Jones, and for good reason, this is a player that full fills our most integral need- Right Side Defender. This must be a priority for JB and crew. Seth Jones for Nate Schmidt, 2022 unprotected first, and Kole Lind. Columbus gets a Right Side defender that will make 5.95 million over the next 5 years, a hell of a lot less then Seth Jones will make over the same time. An unprotected 1st round pick is a gamble in a very deep draft (according to experts), and Lind could work into a third line center role with Columbus. In the upcoming armature draft to me its a no brainer in our number 9th overall selection- MacTavish- A player that tics all the marks in what our team needs, a fast, physical, skilled winger, of which we will have 3. Miller, Podkolzin, and MacTavish. If the Canucks brass can get Hughes and Pettersson signed for reasonable deals, and that's a big "IF", they might even be able to go fishing for another defender, and If I could have my way, that would be Adam Larson. New Look Lines: Miller- Pettersson- Boeser Hoglander- Horvat- Kyrou Pearson- Gourde- Podkolzin Highmore- Motte- MacEwen MacTavish, Lockwood, McDonough... Hughes- Jones Rathbone- Hamonic (Larson) O.J. - Myers Those four acquisitions instantly become foundational (core) players for the team moving forward.
  18. In order to shutdown you need to be able to keep up. We don't need another Gudbranson...
  19. Your seriously asking that question. Seth Jones is a bonnafide superstar in the NHL. What has any of the upcoming first round draft picks done in the NHL?
  20. If the Canucks win the draft lottery, Owen Powers would fit the bill, or deal the pick to Columbus and add a prospect for Seth Jones. We would need to deal Schmidt, but he doesn't fit well on the Canuck team anyways.
  21. you need to make cap room! you don't wait for cap room, that's wasting another year of our cores ability to move forward.
