No. I have family friend neighbours who work much more essential jobs than being atheletes...  id rather them get it first..

Nom starter for me.. wait in line like tje rest of us..

My brothers wife works at hospital she got covid becase was waiting in line.. my friends mom works at a hotel she got covid..

Ppl working at grocery stores gas stations serving 100s of customers per day for minimum wage so we can feed our families..  they should get it 1st..

Hockey players can wait their turn.. they dont have to play.. ill watch something else..

The point I’m trying to make here is that we shouldn’t be in this position. Everyone in Canada always has that “we got free healthcare” swagger around Americans, but we are a global joke right now. The Canucks getting wiped out by the virus doesn’t make us look too good. Like I said before, if we weren’t too cool to travel to our normal pacific division teams, the entire team could’ve walked into a vaccination hub and got vaccinated in minutes. This Canadian division hilariously backfired in our faces.

I dont know about all that...

You can watch a million different things on tv or listen to on radio.. you want every single person on tv or radio to jump the line?

Or just hockey players because you like to watch hockey...

    Thats rediculous

Amyways.. almost all of them have had it now. Built up immunity.. only like 1 in tens of millions get it twice..

We think one of our friends did but 1st time he was not tested and in south america.. maybe bad food or water...3rd world country...

I looked into it extremely rare...

You do know all Canadian teams turned down the vaccine due to fallout from US teams getting it right?

And no, they are not essential service, for most people they have zero impact on their lives.

Id rather they shut down the season then have one person die that could have been saved had they gotten the vaccine.

Let’s say +/-100 people per team would need to be vaccinated. That’s not even 1000 shots guys. They are at higher risk due to their proximity to each other. Fallout? Like I said before, I waltzed into the civic centre in the most remote county in Texas and got vaccinated within 10 mins. You don’t even need to be a citizen down here. The only fallout should be towards our failed government. They are vaccinating like 3,000,000 people a day in the US and we are sitting here making a big political song and dance o out 1000 shots to protect all the teams in the Canadian division. It’s not like we are putting black jack dealers ahead of nurses.

Attention: I was extremely intoxicated when I posted this. Please don’t quote me on this cause I don’t want to discuss it at all.

  3. And another thing, these guys should be considered essential workers. Cant go to the ski hill, can’t go to the gym, can’t go out to eat, can’t have a funeral, cant have friends over. Can’t go to a movie, cant travel, can’t blow money at the casino.

One of the few things we can do is stay home and watch hockey. They are doing a service to all of us. Vaccinate them god dammit.

MEDIA | Bo Horvat on Canucks COVID Situation

He looks like dog crap. My heart breaks for these guys. Who knows how this virus will manifest down the road.

I think the most revealing part of the interview was his snide comment towards the speed of the vaccination roll out in Canada. It’s funny how we had to put this Canadian division into place to protect us from the wildly rampant COVID spread in the US. Good job Canada, way to save the day.

Ironically. If we were making normal trips to the US in the pacific division they’d be vaccinated.

I am working in west Texas right now. On Wednesday I walked into the Reeves county civic centre which is in the middle of absolutely nowhere and got a Moderna Vaccine without any citizenship or anything. I’m down here on a work visa. I was in and out within 20 mins.

We have quite a few American players on our team and they must absolutely livid over this crap. Canada, BC, NHLPA, and the NHL should all be ashamed of themselves.

I would argue that he has changed, since signing Tyler Myers.

I don't consider Pearson's 3.25 mil/year contract to be outrageously overpriced like some of our fans.

Anyways, you might be right but I feel like we've seen a change in Jim over the last calendar year.

It’s not a bad contract if you have your core locked up and lots of flexibility. We don’t have any of that.

I think we have less cap space moving forward than most are thinking.

Everyone just thinks that when Eriksson goes and the Luongo cap hit is gone, then we are in the clear.

Unfortunately we have raises coming to a bunch of extensions every year and we should anticipate 5 years of basically flat cap... so we won’t get relief by it continuing to rise.

2021 - Extensions for Hughes, Petterson, Demko kick in for probably $19 million in total.  We can assume 3 year bridge deals for the first two since we can’t afford to lock them in long term.  Juolevi needs a show me 1-2 year deal.

2022 - this is the only year more money is coming off the books than will be owed in raises.  We can’t spend it all though, as we have raises owed in subsequent years.  Brock goes up to $7 million minimum this year

2023 - Horvat and Miller are due new contracts. Hoglander will be coming off his ELC and due a big raise if he is a top 6.  Conservatively say $6 million in raises between them.  Juolevi will need to get extended, if he works out that is a big raise... if he doesn’t, we need to find a top 4D somewhere.

2024 - The Petterson and Hughes bridge deals will expire and they will need to get locked in long term.  Podkolzin will also roll off his ELC and get paid market rate.

What worries me is that Jim isn’t changing the behaviour that caused these cap issues. We will be in a cap crunch as long as he is in charge. If he could just stop with the 3-4 year support player contracts for even a calendar year we would be so much better off.

    Yes there is.

Beauracracy  or however it is spelled

Feds by the vaccine.  Distribute it to provinces.  provinces distribute it to regional health boards.  regiuonal health boards distribute to hospitals and pharmacies.  none of which are equipped to handle the storage.  all of which have different and varying rules.

    It's kind of a mess

I got vaccinated in a gymnasium lol. That’s why I wasn’t even going to attempt to get vaccinated in Canada. I work all over the world and a lot of contracts are pending on proof of vaccination. I literally took this job in Texas so I could get vaccinated and go to Columbia.

A lot of people in Texas and in the southern USA are conspiracy theorists. Me getting a vaccination wasn’t received with much enthusiasm here at work.

Just set a new record so far.

    Wait...there's more

I’m working in Texas right now. As Canadian citizen who is down here on a work visa, with no US residency, I got vaccinated today by waltzing into the local civic centre in a remote town in west Texas. They took my name, shot me in the arm, and I was in and out within 10 mins. It was surprising organized and efficient. There is no restrictions here and nobody wearing masks in any public place. There is no reason a tiny corner of west Texas can kick it this well while Canada struggles mightily.

    Three words, Seattle Expansion draft.

According to Capfriendly, Rules for Defenseman

    • under contract in 2021-22, AND
    • played in 27 or more NHL games last season, OR
    • played in 54 or more NHL games in the last two seasons

Madison Bowey, point 1 check, point 2 no check, point 3 check. He doesn't even have to play a game for the Canucks to qualify

Prior to this trade, either Schmidt or Myers would have had to be unprotected. This way JB can protect them both now and 1 other my guess Juolevi.

    One Clarification.

I think there is a misconception around the expansion draft. So here is just a quick clarification on something I have notice,

Just because players fall under the Criteria for, Minimum Exposure Requirements, doesn't mean Seattle has to pick one of those guys the key word is Minimum.

    For example the Canucks, protect

    1 Goalie

    Demko

    3 dman

    Schmidt Myers Juolevi

    7forwards,

Horvat, EP, Miller, Pearson, Virtanen, Boeser, and Motte

Unprotected, Minimum Exposure Requirements at this point

    1 Goalie

    Holtby

    1 Dman

    Bowey

There is 4 forwards 2 are required

    Eriksson, Beagle, Roussel and Highmore

Seattle doesn't have to pick any of them. They could go with Chatfield, Or Kole Lind both will be RFA, or Vesey and he is a UFA there are rules about how many of these Seattle can pick but they can pick him if they want. Or they Can pick MacEwen who is under contract but might not meet the Minimum Exposure Requirements

Lol, thanks tips. I had no idea.

That year they had him, Draisaitl and Morrissey they were on another level.  I went 10+ games that year and Bowey was so dominant.

He almost has that power forward development syndrome. Relying on size and a physical advantage in Jr. Turning pro removes that advantage and it’s really hard to adjust to defending forwards as big and faster than you are. He isn’t even close to a write off and I’m quite pleased with this trade. We need this dimension in our Dcore.

Except that being unfollowed thing is malarkey.  I checked after that post and Horvat was still following him.

We don’t have to invent things.  He wasn’t that good of a player and got traded at his lowest value in a bad trade that won’t make or break our team.

If we are building a culture, there needs to be a standard players meet in order to wear the Canuck sweater. If trading a player that doesn’t meet that standard is what needs to be done then getter done. However. Don’t force it if you’re not getting the return. It’s very fair to say he is worth roughly half of Sam Bennett. That’s a 2nd round pick. Would any team give up a 2nd round pick for Highmore? Absolutely not. I doubt anyone would give up anything for Highmore. We lost this trade regardless of the outcome.

This is pure speculation but it almost seems like Benning isn’t articulate enough to finesse rival GM’s. He isn’t a salesman and that effects his performance on many different levels. Whether that involves pitching ideas to ownership or selling/ acquiring assets. He is too honest, he lacks creativity. I think a good GM needs to be likeable but also a snake. Ironically he is too good of a guy. That is why people are also empathetic towards him. He has a humbling persona and I think people take advantage of that.

Jim has a history of losing value.  Sure Gaudette was a5th rounder, but he was found value.  It could balance out somewhat with the ones like Jake who’s value never reached what was expected.  But no chance of seeing that balanced out now. Nor  Madden and a second gone for nothing.
in another department JB losses value by inking declining vets to generous contracts to the point they even become useless as trade bait for younger replacements. Stagnant value.

Then he also loses value by the domino effect of losing actual useful good team pieces because of those overvalued contracts.

It’s not so much dealing Gaudette away.  He was a tweener and was alright and I thought somewhat snake-bitten this season, but what disturbed me more was his playoff performance or lack thereof.  He was invisible and looked small out there. So maybe he did need a change in scenery.

all that doesn’t change the fact that JB has a pattern of losing value in the team. And the options to be more creative that go along with  that position

From the get go.  Lost Hamhius for nothing. Then Vrbata.  Yeah I know “the other GMs are being mean.... the only offer was a joke so I refused”.  But was that it or was it just Jim’s inexperience dealing with other seasoned more clever GMs to find a way?

i don’t know.  I gave JB a lot rope in his first 5 years or so, but he has slowly and cumulatively eroded my faith when in almost every occasion, less value comes back for what was invested.  That’s no way to run a hockey franchise

Today was a micro version of his tenure.
    Benn trade: Good

    Bowey trade: Ok

    Gaud trade: horrible.

That basically sums him up. Does some good things then kills them with bad things.

Just when I was about to write you off, you post this.

I appreciate the ability to see, and say,  both good and bad.

I shall read your future posts with a different tone than I was starting to hear.

I’ve complemented him quite a few time. I like the Bowey trade, I like making room for OJ but I’m not really happy with  Gaud’s deal. Although I complained that we only got Motte and that backfired.

Pick swap is basically meaningless, once you get into the success percentages on three digit numbered picks.

So, for basically the cost of a contract slot, we add a guy who can meet exposure requirements, and gain some flexibility on our protected list (don’t have to expose Myers).

And, I suppose we add a RH shot depth Dman with some “last chance” upside, as a reclamation project, on a cheap contract through next season.

But wow, Bowey’s fancy stats are really something.

I don’t like a lot of what JB does but there are a lot of things I do like.

I’m one of the few on the JB hate train that doesn’t actually mind trading picks for other teams disappointments. Especially defensemen. I mean, if we drafted a player of Bowey’s caliber in the 4th/5th round we would be over the moon.

I watched a lot of Rockets Games live and saw a lot of Bowey. He is physical, he shoots right, and he shoots hard. he moves like a potato but that can be improved on in the proper environment. I imagine he is extremely excited about getting a chance here in van. I can’t see Seattle selecting him.

Who knows? D men are tricky, maybe things just suddenly click for him. The chances of that happening are far greater than selecting a NHL player in round 4.

Every day is a beautiful day. My days and my emotions don’t revolve around hockey.

Depressive and negative people do get to me I will admit, for I do not understand how merely being alive isn’t of utmost gratitude.

Getting emotional about things one cannot control is kind of a waste of time when there are so many other variables in a person’s life which are in need of attention.

Those are actually really good coping skills. Ok I’m closing my eyes and telling myself how good it feels to be alive.

    This is awesome, thanks.
