Everyone just needs to calm down and see how things play out. No point in analyzing a player when he hasn't even put on a Canucks jersey yet. Some players succeed in different systems and different roles, I'd take Shaw's word than anyone else's on this forum. Yeah the term sucks but for all we know he could be the perfect fit on our team and our scouts and coaches may have seen something special that we haven't.

Didn't Benning already come out and say that Schmidt never asked for a trade? I think it was last month he said he already had talks with Schmidt and he's happy in Van so this reports interesting.

That's a solid top 9. If we can get a two-way C for our 3rd line along with a great Top 4D to play with Hughes, we'll definitely be up there as an elite team, depending on how Podz pans out.

I watched Podz play a bit and didn't really see any weaknesses besides maybe his skating. For people who've watched him play more, are their any other weaknesses to his game? Or maybe some things he can improve on? I think he'll be a hell of a player for us and I'm super stoked to see him play in the fall!

What do you guys think Laine would cost? Seems like he wants out of CBJ and I'd happily leverage our 9th pick plus prospects for him.

I don't think so. As much as I'd love Reinhart on the team, we need solid prospects on ELC's for cap purposes. The top 10 of this draft looks good, I feel like if we need a player of Reinharts calibre, we can look at Free Agency in 2022 when a bunch of space clears up. Maybe not Reinharts calibre, but a player that can be a legit top 6 winger or a solid 3C would be perfect.

I don't understand people not being happy about Green coming back. We were one game away from the 3rd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a mediocre team. Even this year, with injuries and COVID, I was shook with how well this team played. Expected them to be much much worse. Given a good team, I think Green can do very well. I think the main issue was the assistants if anything, Baumer needs to go. Oh, and Benning..

it’s not always about getting a player that’s better than the usual 4th/5th pick, it’s about leveraging draft picks to use for trades when trying to clear cap space. We have a lot of $&!#ty contracts that we need to get rid of, and I feel like if we stocked up on draft picks, it makes it much easier to get rid of these large contracts and sign better players in free agency with the available cap space we free up. But yes, I do agree that I’d rather just have Bowey than a 4th round pick, but specifically for the canucks, we need as many picks as we can get.

JT Miller has been such a treat to watch over the last few games, especially since Petey has been out. He took that role of being that offensive force and man he's taken full advantage of it. Still gives up the puck at times but he's been dominating in the offensive zone as of late, glad to have him on the team.

Agreed. Myers has been one of our best DMen this year, but people keep using him as a scapegoat. I'd be terrified if he were to get hurt, not sure how bad we'd be without him.

I honestly don't think NT is coming back. He's doing well in Russia and things are going well for him, not too sure if he's going to want to leave a comfortable life there to play in Van. Hope i'm wrong though.

I agree, but I don't think we'll even have enough cap space to retain all those guys... that's the real issue. Unless our core takes substantial pay cuts to remain intact, we really need to start competing soon and hopefully become contenders.

Hughes isn't going anywhere. Shocked that people are actually considering this, especially for a kid who isn't proven at all.

Hughes and Petey are getting at-least 7M. I'd be shook if they get anything less.
