  1. style of play in NYI also has a lot to do it with lower point production. Boeser would still bring skills that could complement their team well. Boeser has also put decent PPG stats his entire career with the Canucks, even when they weren't as offensively inclined as last year. Horvat's season was an anomaly last year ... Boeser had a down season. Lee - Barzal - Boeser Nelson - Horvat - Bailey Seems like 2 well balanced lines to me
  2. What are your thoughts on this proposal? Boeser (VAN) for Pageau (NYI) Why for Vancouver? Save 1.6 mil in cap Add 3C Add PK1 option Add 57% FO% centerman Plays Tocchet style hockey Why for New York? Get younger (i think NYI has the oldest, or close to, forward group in the NHL) Add more offense to an offensively challenged team Add PP1 option on a PP that struggles Deal JGP from a position of surplus as NYI would still have Barzal, Horvat, Nelson, Cizikas at C Shed 5 million of committed cap space for 25/26 when they have to resign Dobson and Ramonov NYi is in win now mode and not a lot of options on the UFA market. They have cap space with only bottom pairing D and back-up goalie not signed. Thoughts?
  3. Q, just curious myself on your assessment of the Canadiens. From what I've seen/heard Dvorak has not been fitting in Montreal (fit/style, positional need, etc) and ive heard they are looking to add skill and shooters on the wing to complement Suzuki and Dach long term. Dvorak is in a position of surplus. They have a lot of wingers but their wingers as a whole lack skill and shooting touch. Caufield is the only exception at this point Now that's my perspective from what I've seen/read so I'm curious on your take .
  4. I agree with this and it's way I don't think Green is cut out for HC. And I don't think he has it in him to be a development coach But, I still think Green was a good X and O coach. The canucks did have structure under him, the players he was given just did not match what he was trying to do. For the right time and plays a style of game he coaches, I think he will make a valuable bench coach.
  5. There was sarcasm in my comment But in all seriousness I think Green should get a chance somewhere as an associate/assistant coach in the NHL He had many flaws and I don't think he is ready for another HC job yet, but at least the Canucks were structured under Green. Considering the lack of talent Benning assembled for him, they managed to be in games.
  6. But Travis Green has a .588 winning percentage in the playoffs. Winner
  7. I strongly feel it's a possibility. It all depends on what Nashville pro scouting department and their management think of Boeser skill, and fit within their system. It's no slam dunk trade proposal for any team. But at the end of the day the likelihood of Nashville getting value for Johansen in a trade is the same as the Canucks trading their cap problems away and expecting value. My whole proposal is based on simply swapping cap and giving players fresh starts with Nashville getting the younger player and better goal scorer which they lack... a la Jakub Vrana in St Louis.
  8. Yup so would I, take Johansen over Boeser. But that's why I suggest Boeser+. So I'm hoping Nashville sees value in Boeser+. Boeser is he bounces back could also bring in some assets in 2 years at TDL if they decide not to resign him. Also I know Trotz mentioned to play fast but in many of his commentary over the years he has stated that fast doesn't mean just skating but, being able to play fast with pace. We can also debate that Boeser is a better skate than Johansen.
  9. Yes potentially. Johansen is pretty much a finished product, doubt he will get much better. At least with Boeser he is still only 26 and there's potential there for him to become a consistent 30-40 goal scorer. Something I think Nashville needs as Forsberg is their only sniper. I also think it's important to remember is similar to how we say Myers, OEL, Boeser, Garland etc have no value or negative value due to their contracts and we have to pay to get rid of them, well how much value does Tyan Johansen have with his 8 mil / year contract? Taking a gamble on a younger winger who can still improve (Boeser) and acquiring a prospect (Woo, Jurmo, Bains, Karlsson, Lockhard or similar) in the process may be enticing to the Preds.
  10. Hi All, i really think that Christian Dvorak or Ryan Johansen will be realistic trade targets for the Canucks. Christian Dvorak (down season in Montreal but, check out this article with what Rick Tocchet has to say about him). our 3C? trade Garland or Boeser for him ... cap swap and fresh start for all. https://theathletic.com/2819009/2021/09/13/what-the-canadiens-should-expect-from-christian-dvorak-breaking-down-his-game-with-former-coach-rich-tocchet/ Ryan Johansen (down season in Nashville and overpaid). But, check out Barry Trotz's comments. pretty much Johansen better have a great summer or he will be playing less minutes. How about a Boeser + fringe prospect for Johansen swap with NSH retaining 1.35 million in cap? Cap stays the same for both teams but, the Canucks get another C, PK option, PP option, and one of the best faceoff guys in the league. Nashville rolls the dice on a potential 30+ goal scorer. https://theathletic.com/2819009/2021/09/13/what-the-canadiens-should-expect-from-christian-dvorak-breaking-down-his-game-with-former-coach-rich-tocchet/ personally, all the players i mentioned above have terrible contracts for what they currently offer but, it wouldn't cost us assets, we wouldn't add term, and we would just be shifting cap from position to position.... overall i see us being a better fit.
  11. good post. it's always nice when people summarize. I wouldn't re-sign Bouevellier at 5 mil per season though. I think going forward the Canucks need to do a better job on finding value on the wing and spending the big money on C and D. Also i think there's a possibility that OEL can be traded if he can have a rebound season. Salary % of Cap is a much more important indicator of how much a player is paid than actual dollar value. For example, OEL currently represents 8.7% of the cap. if the cap goes up to 92 million in 2 years than he would represent 7.8% of the cap which is the equivalent of 6.6 million in todays cap. Now if we were to retain 2.5 million on his contract that would put his cap hit at 4.76 million which is 5.7% of the cap or 5.2% of a 92 mil cap. At those figures if OEL has a rebound season with 2-3 years left on a contract i think that's absolutely a tradeable contract if he waves his NMC. Much better option than buying out in my opinion. Heck retaining 50% is better than buying out.
  12. I also think one option for the canucks is making hockey trades where you're not sheding cap but just relocating the cap to different positions. Christian Dvorak in Montreal played eally well under Tocchet. If Tocchet is a fan of him maybe the Canucks will try a Boeser or Garland for Dvorak type deal. All 3 players could use a change. VAN would get their 3C and Montreal would get a 2RW to play with Dach. Boeser could also be PP1 in Montreal. Tyler Myers + prospect for Dennis Savard? I'm sure there's more players out there I'm not thinking odd that are in same situation as Garland, Boeser and Myers and we could look at swapping so both teams get players with fresh starts.
  13. I agree I dont see the point in moving down in the draft if the cap relief is guys wth 1 year left on their contracts (I.e. Myers, Pearson, Poolman, Beauvellier). If we pull the trigger on something like this it'll be Boeser, Garland or (pipe dream) OEL
  14. I like the idea of targeting Dvorak. I think both Boeser and Garland would be good fits in Montreal. Montreal has lots of speed and playmakers so I feel Boeser would be successful scorer in their system and playing PP1. Garland could also fit well with Dach and Josef. If we can do a 1 for 1 we would be saving cap space and give us a 3C who has played under Tpcchets system before and was successful. I feel if Tocchet is a fan of Dvorak than this would be a real possibility Beuvellier - Petey - Kuzy Podkolzin - Miller - Boeser/Garland Mikheyev - Dvorak - Hoglander (may be a very good line... speed/forecheck and decent skill) Joshua- Aman - Kravtsov Extras & Minors: PDG, Studnicka, Raty, Bains, Karlsson, McDonough Also another trade idea with the Habs how about Tyler Myers, Jett Woo and a 4th for Dennis Savard? Hughes - Savard OEL - Hronek Briesboia/Wolanin/Hirose - Bear Extras and Minors: 2 of Biesbois/Wolanin/Hiroshima, Burroughs, Juulsen
  15. The fella on the right is also a millionaire while the fella on the left just got out of college
  16. Can you guys take this discussion to an appropriate thread? Some of us actually check this thread for Josh Bloom updates not opinions about Dave Nonis and Mike Gillis
  17. Couldn't agree more. Fans getting mad we aren't losing are like people who buy V8s and complain about gas
  18. Couldn't agree more. the morning show and Riccio and Shah are enjoyable... they try to be objective and argue both sides of the story. Drance is continously negative. I have no idea why sportsnet continues to give him air time
  19. Ok .. is management not trying to surround our future HHOF players with a strong supporting cast to make the playoffs? How is just losing going to help us make the playoffs later? Does Connor Bedard mean we will make the playoffs and win cups? Edmonton arguably has 2 top 10 all-time NHL players in McDavid and Draidatl when you take into consideration Era adjusted stats... how is it going for them?
  20. You really think the canucks could be as bad as the bottom as Anaheim, Columbus, Hawks or Sharks?
  21. Hey all. I have an idea. Let's tank. Forget the fact the fact that we have a generational defenseman on our roster
  22. Mind boggling to me how Petterson, Hughes, Miller, Kuzy, and Demko are not one of the top 5-men core in the league... Some people will always find something to complain that. Syndrome of living in Vancouver I guess. Got it too good here... people always need to complain and want something different. I remember in 2010/2011 despite the team being one win away from the cup how people could not stop complaining.
