Kessel, Bonino, Hörnqvist & Hagelin were all JR acquisitions & all played a HUGE role in both Cup wins. That HBK line was massive in the 2016 run, Kessel was the playoffs leading scorer that year. I live in Pittsburgh and know a lot of Penguins fans, in fact I’m married to one. I hear a lot about the team. JR played a huge role in those back to back Cups.

Ok, and ? Maybe they won 2 and haven’t had a sniff since due to GMJR absolutely pilfering the cupboards, trading multiple 1st rounders and giving out terrible contracts, which then lead to him being fired.
I would take 1 Stanley Cup for 10+ years of sucking, let alone 2 Stanley Cups!

Some CDCers seem to think a great GM is perfect and never makes a single bad trade, a single bad signing, and must be able to draft 3 or 4 players that play in the NHL every year...
So accurate, even the best GMs make errors. He made some awesome moves when he got to Pittsburgh. He gets a huge chunk of the credit for those back to back Cup wins. He acquired Kessel, Hornqvist, Bonino & Hagelin…all key contributors to their Cup teams

The man has 3 Stanley Cup titles as a GM, he’s in the Hockey Hall of Fame. This is a guy I definitely want in our organization

Confident players always want the puck. So many Canucks players can’t wait to get rid of it

Pettersson right back to not skating as soon as puck hits his stick. Starts coasting and looking for cute passes.
The mind is a powerful thing isn’t it? If the physical skills are already there, It can make you a superstar or a guy who’s a borderline healthy scratch

I hope nobody got their hopes up too much after the LA game. There are still a myriad of problems with this team that are going to take quite a while to fix. The good news is they’re beginning to take those steps to do just that

Yeah. Last game was such a tease
Boudreau wasn’t going to magically fix everything in a few days. Our problems run deep and will take weeks & months to completely eradicate. The good news is the path to redemption begins with a single step

If anyone ever thinks about wanting to hire Green they should just watch this game and that will quickly change their mind.
Green should never ever be a head coach in the NHL ever again.
I know right?! I keep hearing from the media “oh Green will absolutely work in the NHL again, and soon.” Because his record was so impeccable? The bubble year is an asterisk and we were sliding when the pandemic hit, so we were very lucky to get to the playoffs that year. Other than that, we were never close! He’s probably my least favorite Canucks coach ever, that includes Mike Keenan.

Pettersson has to be the mystery man
I keep hearing Bobby Heenan going “he’s the third man!” EP Leg drops Drew Doughty, forms the nWo with Hughes & Miller

If you gave Boudreau a white beard & the suit, he’d be the PERFECT Santa Claus!

I know we still have lots of work to do, but this is the first game I’ve watched where the Canucks look like they’re taking risks and trying things, playing more free & loose. It’s definitely engaging the fans more too!

It’s clinical depression at this point, I think. Im truly worried about him.
Be supportive!
If it’s something real serious like that I truly feel bad for him. But he’s being paid $7.5 million a year, he’s got to start playing like it and being held accountable

My word, Pettersson has less confidence than the captain of the chess team asking out the prom Queen. Cmon man!

Wow both Green and Benning are gone. We will see what Boudreau can do with this group. If it is much of the same, names like Horvat, Boeser, Pettersson which were considered untouchables like 3 months ago may have to go too. A clean house, really.
Wayne Gretzky was sold to LA by Edmonton, no one is untouchable

That must be fun to be able to do that.
This is what a good team should do to Ottawa. The way we’d been playing I take nothing for granted

Unfortunately. Same. Apathy has set in now.
Yeah when they lost I shrugged and without any emotion, basically said “oh…shocking.”

I have less than zero interest in their tired cliches or anything else they have to say unless it’s “we’re making a coaching/GM change.” Actions mean something, words don’t. Put up or shut up

I never understood the need to complicate a PP. I once heard Jim Robson say that the late Roger Nielsen, whose statue stands outside Rogers arena, made it as absolutely simple as possible.
”Put the puck on the net, and everyone crash the net for a rebound!” I have no idea why that’s so difficult for teams that are struggling on the PP to grasp.
The most beautiful PP goal I ever saw from the Canucks wasn’t aesthetically “pretty” at all. Trevor Linden’s OT winner against Calgary in ‘94. Bure with the nice low shot, Vernon can’t handle the rebound, Linden shovels it in.
Hockey is certainly not an easy game to play, but what you need to do to be successful is extremely simple to understand.

Our options?
As fans nothing,
period.
I myself, I won't watch. I'll look at highlights etc but that's it. No more merch, no more games, no paid anything. Speaking with my wallet and refusal to view. Shame because the kids were supposed to get Nucks jerseys for christmas
Also, do not support advertisers. If most of the Canucks fan base stops supporting the team financially and the advertisers too, it’ll almost certainly send a message

If tomorrow Aqua said “you know what, to heck with this, Green & JB are fired, we’re going to blow up the entire roster, sell off assets, and completely rebuild this thing from the ground up,” what would you guys think?

Damn, whatever happened to Valk I forgot about him
Oddly enough, Garry Valk & Travis Green were once teammates in Toronto. The funny thing is that Travis Green was a very hardworking player, far from the most talented guy on the ice. But as a coach, his teams seem to have a huge problem playing with any kind of intensity or effort

Good move. Wayne Gretzky used a very short stick, Peter Forsberg used an even shorter one. I know a lot of the current players like them longer for defense, but a short one is a heck of a lot easier to handle the puck with. But i guess it’s personal preference
