  1. Is it tough for the PP coach to understand that cross ice suicide passes during PP had led to numerous odd men rushes and at least 3 short-handed goals against so far? Yet they keep doing that ! The only play by EP in PP is to stop the puck and pass it back to Hughes who will never score from the point. EP should watch how Overchkin and Stamkos play the PP with a shoot first mentality if he wants to be good. Those guys are always a threat, but not EP. Does the PK coach know how to teach the PK or has he or they ever kill a penalty ? If yes, please at least teach this team how to kill penalties for the first 10 seconds. The PK is again a joke. How many times have we seen the puck in the Nucks net within seconds. It's time to fire whomever is coaching the PK
  2. It’s a shame and an insult to fans watching the game if the guy has the chance to play another game. Call up Spencer Martin. At least he fights hard.
  3. Can’t have a sieve like that as backup in the playoff race. Call up Spencer Martin to save the season. 8 saves on 14 shots, that will be a world record. This is not the first time and it won’t be the last if you keep this backup.
  4. Take Petey out of the 1st unit PP. He doesn’t shoot, make good passes or win puck battles. All he does is turning over the puck. So stupid doing it the Green’s way by giving the 1st unit PP 90 sec or even close to the entire 2 mins when they’re doing nothing. You’ve got a 2nd unit which is pretty good.
  5. By now Petey should also understand the big reason why he is not playing for a winning team is HE himself.
  6. Give Green 10 more years, this team's PP still won't have a clue as how to enter the zone, let alone set up to score goals. And they can't stop pucks going into the net during PK either. I haven't seen teams taken so many '' too many men'' penalties like Green's team. TG doesn't even know how to make line changes and it's such a big joke. Fire green now. The experiment should be over with two consecutive AHL coaches !
  7. Ovechkin and Stamkos in PP will shoot in 9 out of 10 chances they have and score often. Petey, in 9 out of 10 chances during PP will stop the puck , slow down the play, look for a perfect pass and end up turning the puck over for odd men rushes against the Canucks. Petey loves to carry the puck in the neutral zone, gets easily knocked off stride and again turnovers the puck. He is just a different player from his rookie year.
  8. With so much talents, the Canucks under Green surprisingly is not good at puck possession. They are not good playing the physical game either. Both PP and PK are also awful. Everything is chaotic, may be with the exception of goaltending. Green definitely is not up to the task and he should go sooner the better,
  9. The Nucks coaching is laughable. This team cannot make more than two passes without turning over the puck. They can win faceoffs in the defensive zone but have no idea how to exit the zone with the puck thereafter. The top PP unit is often given an entire two minutes of PP time just to enter the zone in vain. Petey and Hughes game deteriorate this season. Petey now loves to stop the puck to slow down the play and Hughes always dangerously carries the puck in his own zone when he's the last man back. A hit or check on either of them is enough to create turnovers. Hughes is not a good point man in PP as advertised. His passes to Petey, Boeser or Miller are mostly into the skates and too hard for one timers. So even if they can set up, all you see is their endless passing to each other until turning over the puck. JB spent so much money and many lengthy contracts to build one of the most expensive and yet among the worst 3rd and 4th lines in the league. Most of these guys only know dump in and chase. What was JB thinking when he gave up Madden together with a 2nd round pick to get Toffoli play just 10+ games in Vancouver? The lengthy garbage contracts he handed out will still be killing the Canucks next season. Just wonder why JB, Green, and all the assistant coaches with the exception of Clark deserve to stay. Given 7 more years and these guys won't build any contenders in Vancouver.
  10. This team is built for losers. If the top unit PP can't score, or even can't enetr the zone in the 1st minute, they will be rewarded 1 more minute to waste on endless passing of the puck. That usually ends with turnovers, odd men rushes and even SH goals against. It's sick to watch them standing still passing the puck until Hughes shot at the blueline hit a crowd. The Canucks never have puck possession for long. Too many passes end as turnovers. The set play for the 3rd and 4th lines is to give away the puck at center ice by a dump in and go for the change. The way EP and Hughes love to hold on to the puck for too long makes them easy to play against. Just one push or hit will rip them off their pucks and it's another turnover. Just how much longer will the Canucks keep these coaches?
  11. It's a stupid idea to let the first unit PP be on ice for the entire 2 mins of PP. These guys don't play with urgency as they think there's always lots of PP time left. All they do most of the time is to keep passing the pucks and not putting pucks on net to score. They don't create too many scoring chances even with 5 on 3s. Their cross ice passes are so predictable that they are easy to block to create turnovers, which give the PK shorthanded breakaways game after game. If this happens in the 2nd min of PP, Hughes and the entire unit will out of gas to chase. The idiot PP coach will eventually give the 2nd unit more time to play, may be only after the 1st unit PP gives up many more shorthanded goals.
  12. EP makes himself easy to play against once he stops that shoot first mentality which made him so fearful when he first entered the league. He has to make quicker decisions to put pucks on net or to pass. Every time he stops the puck to slow down play he gets himself in trouble. He will be checked and all shooting and passing lanes are blocked, resulting in turnovers. EP's only play in PP is to pass the puck back to Hughes or to look for making that perfect cross-ice pass for a tip in. Obviously it doesn't work. He simply won't put pucks on net which would create chaos for the PK. His pass only tactics had produced countless turnovers and even goals against. It shouldn't be difficult to fix. Just shoot more or at least fake some to move the PK around. Otherwise the top PP unit will keep passing the puck around for 2 mins without shots or goals. The only thing they will get are turnovers, breakaways and short-handed goals against.
  13. It's going to be a long season with such awful PP & PK. Oilers PP is so dangerous as McDavid & Draisaitl both love to shoot. If they don't score, the Oilers can still go for the rebounds. Petey had his chances in PP tonight but he repeatedly chose to pass for a tip instead of shoot. They eventually turned out to be harmless plays. If Petey keeps doing that, the PP is going nowhere as he is one of the best shooters on the team. The 2nd unit should be given more chances as Virtanen, audette and Pearson all love to shoot which would make them more dangerous. If you don't shoot you don't score. It's that simple Giving up 5 PP goals in 2 games and there's 9 out 10 chances the Canucks would lose both games and they actuallydid. The 1st goal has been the Flames set play for quite a few years now and I wonder if the Canucks coaches really know that by now.
  14. PP has to score to win. Stop the way too many, especially cross-ice, passes which are too easy to block and clear. Passes should set up for one timers. Shoot whenever possible and go for the rebounds. Would like to see the PP to shoot more often, rather than turning over the puck with those over passes. Give the 2nd unit more time on the PP as I believe they are as dangerous as the 1st unit because both Audette and Virtanen love to shoot. These two scored 10 PP goals with limited PP time last year. TG should stop using Virtanen as scapegoat whenever the team underperforms.
  15. The PP is awful. What's the use of making those endless stck to stick passes until the PP is almost over, leaving not much time for the 2nd unit? You have to set up for more one-timers when passing the puck to be intimidating. Gaudette and Virtanen of the 2nd unit are more productive as these guys have the shoot first mentality in PP. Petey especially has to shoot more and make quicker passes. Once he stops the puck, the play is dead as all shooting and passing lanes are blocked and it often ends with a turnover.
  16. The difference in this series was that Vegas played a north-south game, putting pucks on net whenever they could. The Canucks however played a east-west game and often looked too afraid to shoot. Every Canucks line change began with a dump in to give away the puck and the fresh legs had to start defending to begin every shift. That's how you won faceoffs but didn't have puck possession. You can't score if you don't put pucks on net and this should be the most important lesson to learn from the loss.
  17. Why not rest Markstrom to prepare for tomorrow night’s game when you’re down by 3? Record not good for Markstrom playing back to back !
  18. Bone head Myers penalties are killing the Canucks. How can guys be so stupid ?
  19. Sick to watch the nucks outmuscled, outskated and with countless turnovers. TG should be fired for putting AV in the press box Guy is way outcoached.
  20. Thank you TG for putting Virtanen in the press box. After 5 periods, the Nucks scored only 1 goal. Now the top two lines are under extreme pressure to score as the others lines won’t. Nucks are outmuscled and outskated. TG is outcoached. Sick to watch TG chose to play games with Virtanen at the worst possible time.
  21. Virtanen provides the most goals for the 3rd line and 2nd unit PP. He is big, fast, can forecheck and has that intimidating hard and accurate shot. Team is more exciting to watch with Virtanen in the lineup. Hate to see TG prefers to play games with this important player in the qualifying round. The Canucks 3rd and 4th lines are punchless without Virtanen. They will be outmatched. The Wild is a very good defensive team. All they have to do is to shut down the Nucks top two lines and they will win this series.
  22. Teams need at least 3 scoring lines to succeed in the SC playoffs. Virtanen scored 18 goals playing on the 3rd line and he scored the most PP goals in the 2nd unit PP. This guy has speed, can forecheck, hit and is never a defense liability. With Virtanen, Audette playing on the 3rd line, adding either Rousell or Ferland the Nucks 3rd line has speed, can score, forecheck and hit. It's a shame to see a 18 goal scorer to sit on the bench and watch the Canucks lose to the Wild. If JB and Green dislike Virtanen, trade him away in the off season but don't let him sit and lose the series.
  23. Why would you sit out a 18 goal scorer in Virtanen who scored the most PP goals in the second unit ? Nucks needs his speed, forecheck and goal scoring. Replace either Beagle or Sutter by Virtanen or else the Nucks will lose to the Wild.
  24. Time for a change. Green cannot only preach dump in and go for a change in the 3rd period to protect a lead. 4 goal leads against Washington and Pittsburg we’re not enough and he did the same against Columbus. Sutter was so afraid to shoot in an odd men rush with only the goalie to beat in a 2 goal lead and his back passed created a turnover instead. Absolutely sick to watch. Fire Green and get Gallant.
  25. Playing dump in and change to protect a lead in the 3rd period is the biggest problem. Sutter on an odd men rush with only the goalie to beat chose not to shoot but back passed to create a turnover also a big problem. Sutter taking an unnecessary offensive zone penalty with a 2 goal lead started the collapse.
