Welcome to the 2023 CDCGML Entry Draft!
The draft will begin on Saturday June 24th at 1:00pm Pacific time.You can follow along in this thread as well as on the CDCGML 2023 Entry Draft Sheet where the picks will be updated and recorded.
Also in our Discord group we will be calling on GMs who's turn is up, and those who choose to can listen in or join the live discussion on the server as well.
The guidelines are as follows:
- For the first round, teams will have 5 minutes to make their selection. In the 2nd thru 4th rounds, teams will have 3 minutes to make their selection.
- Please do not post your draft pick until you are called by either @canuck2xtreme or @Relyt Krets. The time to make your selection begins when your turn is called.
- Trading is permitted during the draft.
- Teams not present during the draft will not be awarded the "best player available". You must be present to make your draft selection, and if you cannot be present, please submit a draft list to canuck2xtreme, or designate someone to make your selections for you. In order for another GM to select for you, you must inform @canuck2xtreme prior to them making selections for your team. If everyone on your list is already gone, you will be passed over.
- Teams who make selections out of their turn order, or select a player who is already taken or ineligible to be taken, will miss their turn and the draft will continue.- Missed draft picks or invalid selections can be made up at the end of the round during the 10 minute intermission between rounds, or after the draft until 8:00am June 25th.
- In order to be eligible to be selected, a player must be 20 years old or younger as of today.

A note for future reference!!
PLEASE!! Nobody make an attempt at being funny by telling people the wrong draft time. It's confusing to some and has caused some issues with some people's scheduling.
The 2023 CDCGML Entry Draft is scheduled for 1:00pm Pacific time today.
Also, the 2024 CDCGML Entry Draft is scheduled for 1:00pm Pacific time June 22nd, 2024.
Telling people the draft is ANY other time than this may lead to losing draft picks! Don't mislead your fellow GMs!

We have always matched our salary cap to the NHL's salary cap in the past. However, given that we've reduced 2 teams (6.25% fewer than the NHL's 32 teams), that's 2 teams worth of players that are now spread across the league, including star players etc., which puts an unexpected strain on everyone's cap numbers.
To compensate for this, the league in implementing the following salary cap provision that will take effect beginning next season and continue each year until re-expansion.
When the NHL salary cap is announced for next season, the league will increase the GML salary cap to 6.25% above the NHL number.

As per this report: NHL Salary Cap set to rise $1M for 2023-24, I have set team charts 2023-24 Salary Cap at $88.725 million as determined above.
I will adjust again if needed if the official number differs from the reported $83.5 million NHL cap.
