  1. I think we need to pool some money to mail Mr. Devorski some glasses. That was something special of a missed call. I ref rec league... and with his point of view that's a call *I* would have made. He's paid a lot more than me to NOT make that call...
  2. Good shift by booth. If he plays like that I think he'll get more ice time and less pressbox time.
  3. I don't think we should do a damn thing. Unless we can pull off a Stojanov for Naslund type trade for someone, trading for Ott, Jagr, Jokinen or any other rental is stupid. We're likely more than a single rental away from a serious cup run unless Luongo decides "Ok I'm winning a cup now" and pulls off a series of 16 shutouts in a row. Rentals are bad news. I'd rather have the prospects in the cupboard so we can either use them, or trade them for contracted players that we need later.
  4. Nash is the only pick I don't like. He's never gotten it done with the game on the line. MSL should have been there; but why bring a fast skater to a large ice surface and a skill game, who has chemistry with Stamkos? Yeah, no need for that. Everybody else probably has a decent case to be made for being there. I used to really like Rick Nash, but he is a lazy player.
  5. Holding the lead: Something impossible. Leaving players out too long: Something too often done Missing a sniper: Still. I want a few showcase games for Canucks here, so a few of them are out of here. Not necessarily in a "Raymond Ballard +1st" fashion, I mean as in we start getting young players / picks back. It's clear to me that while we can go on a hot streak, this team as is is not built to compete for the cup anymore. I can't name any one player who should have the bags packed. Aquilini wants the playoff revenue, but it'll be a short playoffs assuming we get in at all...
  6. Orrrr... Go get some prospects of our own on account that we aren't likely to make much noise in the playoffs, assuming we make it at all?
  7. Don't discount the Isles ability to re-sign Vanek, should they want to at season end. They've had a number of players end up on the island who "didn't want to be there" only to re-sign later at or even slightly under market value. I think a first, second and moulson was a bit steep, but when you look at the talent Vanek has I think this is simply a gutsy play by the isles. They're a .500 hockey team and this is not the lateral motion alot of CDC seems to think it is; Moulson is good, but it's Anson Carter-itis. He's playing with Tavares, of course he looks great. If Vanek and Tavares develop any sort of chemistry, look out east coast. There's a reason Edmonton sheeted Vanek all those years ago, and not just because they were stupid.
  8. Country clubbers: Holding their breaths Winners: Excited.
  9. I don't understand why people seem to think AV and Lindy Ruff are 'the same coach'. The difference in team talent has been massive for those two coaches. One Vanek and one Teppo Numminen did not a Sedin Twins make. "And then', etc. Whereas Buffalo has... Hodgson on the first line. And then that's about it. Ruff also has tactics, and a visible fire when something is not right. AV has gum. And a slot machine for picking lines. Torts would be my other pick, but Ruff is my #1, #2 and #3 on this list.
  10. They did that for the last number of years already. Now they need a real coach.
  11. I wonder if we can trade them to New York for Brad Richards. I'd eat the contract just to get rid of them.
  12. If Tony Gallagher doesn't like it, it's probably the right option.
  13. Go to stanley park and get a sea lion to stand behind the bench. That's a better coach than vigneault. At least it would do more than just look menacingly at things and defend the 1-0 scoreline in the second period. And the slot machine line selections. My pick is still Lindy Ruff. He has experience, knowledge, ability to actually play hockey for more than a cup of coffee, and he shows emotion and actually coaches players.
  14. I can cheer for this team again, knowing that they now have a chance to win.
  15. Sportsnet also hired Nick Kypreos. ... ... So yeah, I wouldn't put too much stock into their HR policy It's pretty easy to 'make up' a rumor, and getting legitimate people to be at your site is rather easy. Flash some cash and there you go. He gets cash from his ridiculous ads and/or pay site. Uses cash to pay real sports journalists to say a few words on his site. Gets more cash from idiots listening to his insane ramblings. It's an awesome business model, but realistically, I remember someone doing a post not too far ago about his accuracy on some of the 'higher' rumors, and it was something like 3%. Throw enough of it at a wall, something will stick.
  16. Trent Klatt! Magnus Arvedson! ...wait
  17. I sent it to an even -200. Yeah, this is the post that keeps on giving. This goes out to all those young CDCers out there. Before posting, think "How will this bite me in a year"
  18. Backup Bob!!! Bobby Essensa was really good for the 30 games that you wanted him to play. Sadly I don't have a picture for you.
