  1. I'll let other people be the judge of that. Great comeback though.
  2. Really? Reading what you're writing is not giving me a clue about you? You should really stop writing, because all I'm gathering is that your IQ is quite low. Either that or you're knowingly writing like a dumbass, but that puts you as one in my books anyways.
  3. says the mindless drone that doesn't even think for himself. Look in the mirror buddy.
  4. Welp, no point attempting to have an intelligent conversation with you...
  5. To some extent, yes. It's not hard to see some of the mistakes our coaching staffs have made over the years. To think just because they have closer interactions with the players that they have a better understanding of how to utilize them is foolishness.
  6. You're right. Green is a flawless coach with perfect talent assessment. Absolutely no possible way he incorrectly assessed this player. Not a chance. /s
  7. I'd rather have him than Di Giuseppe, and both Motte and Sutter are currently out. IMO he's a guy that can slot up the lineup if other people aren't producing as well. Had 8 goals and 3 assists in his first 8 games in Utica (IIRC) last year, and 15 goals overall in 19 games played.
  8. Speed doesn't win you games. Goalscoring does. I like Lockwood and Podkolzin, but goalscoring should take precedence. I remember a number of years ago we had both Tuomo Ruutu and Jack Skille on PTOs during the preseason. Ruutu put up points, while Skille brought energy. We kept Skille. He didn't really do anything for us. When goalscoring in your bottom 6 is a problem and you have a player on your team that has shown the ability to score goals and put up points, you don't get rid of him because he's not as fast as some other player.
  9. "So why did you send a guy down that actually put up points in the games he played playing with 4th line teammates?" "We didn't really like his defensive play and hustle." "He was a +1 in the 2 games he played. Do you not want goal scoring from the bottom 6?" "We want guys with hustle. Players like Highmore and Dowling. That's the kind of energy we need." "So not players that will help your team win by increasing the score?" "HUSTLE, DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME?!"
  10. Unless you're the Oilers or Leafs. You don't have to start winning. They give you the credit regardless.
  11. I think it is a big loss. Unlike someone like Corrado who people were getting up in arms at letting go back in the day, Gadjovich has size and the ability to score. Why isn't he tried out on a line with Miller? How do you look at this player, see his ability to get to the net and score (with 4th line teammates), and not try him with some better offensive players? Where's the talent assessment? So dumb. Like AV having no idea that trying Burrows with the Sedins would necessarily do anything (he said he decided to try it out in an interview. Didn't give any particular reason). If you watched him play you could see he had very good hockey IQ and both offensive and defensive awareness before he ever played a shift with them. Case in point the One game he actually got to play with Bertuzzi (him and Kesler) where he got his first credited hattrick, and that wasn't even enough.
  12. Yes. Goals make a difference between winning and losing. Having energy doesn't. Glad we have Highmore and not Gadjovich. 2 points in 2 games? (goal and assist) - Get rid of him! Need more Dowling!
  13. Gadjovich - 2 points in 2 games. Better keep Dowling!
  14. Don't worry, guys. We get to be excited about Highmore putting up 0 points. He has more energy!
  15. I've been quite impressed with Garland so far. I've actually noticed him more (positively) than OEL, personally (though I didn't watch all the pre-season games). This trade was so good.
  16. How many teams were the Canucks trying to negotiate with? Were the offers just too low from Vancouver? Was he not bothering with counter proposals? Sucks that Benning didn't work hard enough last offseason /s
  17. If I had to pick just 1 genre? Probably Alt Rock, though most of the newer stuff I listen to is Prog. For a 10 year stretch I'd go from 1995-2005
  18. Went with Matthews. I imagine he'll be the highest scoring American by the end of his career. Already has 3 40+ goal seasons in just the 5 he's played so far (including 41 in 52 this past season) and the 2 seasons he didn't make 40 he was injured. Took Kane until his 9th season to pot 40. Will be interesting as well to see how Adam Fox's career goes as far as Americans. A Norris already at just age 23 in his 2nd year in the NHL. Probably be another 4 years before he even reaches his prime as well.
  19. Usage isn't just oZone starts though, it relates to how teams play. For instance, dump and chase is going to affect certain types of players differently than controlled entry into the zone. Some players thrive more on the one style while some players thrive more on the other. Offensive formations is more what I was thinking about though as the way players set up and position for scoring chances will affect how productive they are offensively, as well as how effective a players linemates are in being able to play to the style of play they're being used in. I really have not been impressed with any of Vancouver's coaches' ability to create good offensive systems (5 on 5) since before the lockout in '04-'05. As for the the oZone starts stat itself, what's the difference in offensive draw totals vs defensive draw totals between the 2 teams? I'd imagine that Vancouver had more defensive zone draws (relative to offensive zone draws) than Boston so all players' zone start usage would naturally be less in the oZone than what they would have had in Boston the previous year. But I do also agree that the team overall was much worse than what Boston had iced. In any case, you expect more than less than .5 ppg from a player you're paying 6 million dollars towards. As was pointed out though, none of that free agent class lived up to their billing.
  20. The other thing at the time to consider is that the cap was expected to continue going up. This obviously has been a factor as to why it's been problematic to have Eriksson's 6M cap hit on the books with the low amount of point production he's had. I personally don't think Eriksson was used as favorably as he should have been, but I also don't think much of his offensive play warranted more usage. Would have to analyze how his goal scoring came about in Boston to know if a significant difference in play style/usage affected his ability to put up similar points here (I imagine that's the case). Regardless Eriksson really didn't play like a 6M man. I personally don't fault Benning for that signing though, and was happy with the signing when it happened.
  21. Wrath Of Man - 8/10 Guy Ritchie's latest film. I enjoyed it. Opening scene didn't feel as well acted as the rest of the movie, but an interesting way to work through the story was used. Free Guy - 8/10 As one IMDB user described it, Ready Player Truman. Seems an apt enough description. Was pretty interesting, even if it was a bit flawed. Plenty of good humor.
  22. I'm glad we got him back. Really liked what he brought in his game with us before he signed that deal with the Lignthing.
