  1. I wonder if Van pays out his KHL contract to get him over next season? Canucks have never done well with Russians other than

    Larinov and Bure.

Saw the young Russians beeking off against the WHL team last night. Bad sports.

There were some rumours that this was managements plan.

  2. I think we re-up on one of Matthias or Richardson. I think it'll be Matthias and we'll look to Bo Horvat and UFA market to fill the void of Richardson.

Regarding Green - I don't know - personally I think they should. But I also think they should not have signed Niskanen and Orpik to those big contracts, which might force their hands on Green. That should be a trade deadline decision - they probably don't want to lose Green for nothing.

I think Spezza might stay in DAL unless he strongly wants to move back east, as it seems like a good fit for him behind Benn at this stage of his career. I love Chris Stewart's potential, but the guy is just such an enigma. The right price would have to be pretty low for him, but I think another team would overpay for his potential.

If we resign anyone, it's probably Richardson. However, I doubt we resign either of them. Jensen will be ready for full time duty next year, as will Bo and maybe even Gaunce/Kenins.

  3. why does Lazar look way ahead of Bo in terms of development?

Lazar has had consistent line mates all year and Hoffman has been a revelation so far this season. I also think Lazar is a bit better than Horvat as well as a prospect, but him having the same line mates consistently, that he has chemistry with is huge.

  4. I thought Gary Valk brought up a good point during the 2nd intermission.

He said something along the lines of if you are going to keep up a rookie in place of sending him back to junior he needs to be showing up on the score sheet.

I would love to see Horvat up the whole year as much as the next 'nuck fan but I think Gary is right on the money in regards to Horvat. Send him back to Junior and the WJC to work on his offensive game.

We can see he can play D, lets develope his offensive game.

Furthermore, who are you going to ship out to get Horvat in? Mathias has picked up his game, Vrbata and Kassian are both out at the moment, I dont see room for Bo despite his decent play.

5 years from now we may very well be happy we sent him down.

I agree that Juniors is probably what's best for his development, but...How can you expect him to put any points up when you're giving him under 20% offensive starts, playing him under 8 mins the last few nights and having him play with a revolving door of line mates ?

  5. This, I think he's definitely ready for the NHL. I don't get why people keep saying he was invisible, no duh, he barely got any ice time and when he did he always made the right play and looked like a vet out there.

It's crazy that he's only 19 and looks quite poised already. I'm excited to see his progression throughout the year and hopefully he can work his way up to 10-12 mins a game.

  6. I know he's in his overage season but it's still a nice turn around for McEneny. Went something like the first 6 games without a single point. Hope he keeps this recent play up!

  7. From Botchford:

Rollie Melanson is fairly pleased thus far with how Jacob Markstrom has fared in Utica, giving up just one goal in three games, with a .988 save percentage, while currently enjoying a scoreless streak of 172 minutes and 33 seconds

I doubt theres anyone who knows where Markstroms at right now more than Melanson. Hes big time bullish on Markstrom after all the work the pair have put in and is confident he is poised to surprise people who doubt he can have a long, successful NHL career as a starter.

He says he reminds him a lot of Ben Bishop.

  8. you're allowed 4, on your 5th you're gone.

    i have none.

Do they ever reset? I have 2 lingering from at least 2-3 years ago..

On topic: looking forward to seeing Bo in action tonight, hopefully he's on one of the first two lines and gets ample opportunity!

  9. Really windy outside right now. The power almost went out and lost internet connection for around 10 minutes.

The gusts are intense wow. There's a severe rainfall warning as weLl

  10. These games will not count as part of his nine games. He can play up to two weeks in the A, which is 6 games right now based on Utica's schedule

  11. Could horvat be the next Toews :frantic::frantic::towel::towel:

Absolutely not, but he could definitely be the next Ryan O'Reilly. I think because of the lack of his showing of offensive prowness people are writing off Horvat. He's trying to establish himself as an NHL regular and the easiest way for him to do that is to be responsible defensively. It will take him a few years to show his offensive potential, but in his prime he will definitely be a key cog to this Canuck team, no doubt about it. ATM he knows that what will get him on this team is his defensive awareness so that is what he will be focusing on. IMO, if we give him the chance he will make the team and move his way up the lineup as the season progresses and establish himself as a formidable 3c option by the end of the year. It will be years until we see his offensive upside on a day to day basis.
