"Substantial offers were made"
Yeah...substantial from who's point of view. Come on people, smarten up. Think a little before you start giving **** to GMMG.

The funniest thing about this entire Kesler situation is that it was completely generated by the likes of TSN and the rest of the media.
People, you need to stop believing all the crap that comes out the "experts" at Sportcentre. They're great when it comes to actually finding about trades and signings, but when it comes to rumours and speculation, they jump on that crap and blow it way out of proportion.
That's exactly what happened here. The minute the Canucks started to tumble down the standings, "experts" began to introduce the idea of a possible rebuild/retool in Vancouver. That led to ideas such as trading away core assets that Vancouver has like Kesler. By spreading these ideas and eventually elevating them into rumours and speculative reporting, it's going to to be natural for other teams who could use someone like Kesler to start asking GMMG about him. It's just happened to escalate even more when teams like the Flyers and Pens were making serious offers. With this, CDC suddenly somehow comes to the conclusion that Kesler was demanding for a trade.
I cannot find any point over these past weeks where Kesler was disappointed with his situation in Vancouver. He immediately shut down these rumours and said his heart was in Vancouver and did not want this to be a distraction. Does anyone not remember that interview?
You people need to pickup the slack on your critical thinking skills and quit believing in all the crap TSN puts out.
As for the negotiations themselves, if we didn't get a fair deal then, I'm happy that we did not trade Kesler. Teams should be overpaying for this guy, players like Kesler are not common. Don't know why people are pissed that we didn't finish the deal with Pittsburgh when their biggest asset to trade off was Sutter, and a couple of picks (which would be late picks by the way). We don't need another 3rd line center, we need young forwards on the wing who will able to play with our young guys like Horvat in the future.
GMMG in his interview was completely right. When you're in a position where your team under performs, you're going to a get bunch of calls from other teams checking to see if you're interested in parting ways with any assets. This doesn't mean that players are wanting out of Vancouver, it means that GMMG is considering the offers and thinking about them, like any normal GM should.

Because he has a no trade clause and right after he "said he wanted out" we were looking to trade him. If it was a rubbish report would MG jumped on the phone trying to trade him?
We were never shopping him around. We were only considering it because Gillis got serious offers from teams like Philly and Pitts when the league started hearing about the rumour and began to assume Kesler was available.

Why are people assuming that Kesler wants out...those rumours were all generated by the likes of TSN. He clearly stated that he wants to stay here.

Guys, don't be fooled by his play in Florida. Jacob Markstrom has some talent, he just needs some support at the NHL level to gain confidence.
Yeah, apparently he didn't even have a goaltending coach back in Florida.

The boards in Sochi are extremely lively....

Darn I missed it. Thought I would catch the men's 500m.
Btw, we just won a bronze medal.
Haha I did exactly the same. Just watched the replay of the Benn goal online.

Don't want to put down the women, but the reffing in this game has been quite amateur like for both sides.

Frack. Penalty.

Russia wins Women's Figure Skating. Commentators were surprised as Yuna Kim had a near flawless skate. With all these rumours surrounding Figure Skating and all the possible judging fixes, I have no choice but to feel a little skeptical of the integrity around the event this year...not to mention the controversy around Pairs and Ice Dance too.

Looks like Tampa Bay has their next goalie. Gudlevskis has been absolutely insane.

I was pretty skeptical of the initial forecasts to begin with. The Weather Channel was forecasting rain since last week.

Alex, well done, well done! How about the Dutch sweeping the 500? What a power in long track.
All of the Dutch's medals have been from long track

"the puck went off Edler's sk-..."

Seriously, Henrik just needs to take the two weeks off.

Need Burrows to do this again

I need to refill on protein powder. Do brand names actually matter? Is it alright if I just go to Costco or Superstore and pick up a random brand?
-
It isn't.
The 08/09 team's core was 5 years younger and on the upswing as we now know. This team is in the opposite situation. Our top "sniper" Daniel Sedin will be very lucky to hit 20 goals and 60 points this year.
Okay...maybe the 07/08 season then
Naslund, Morrison --> Sedins and Burrows
Now...Horvat, Shinkaruk, Kassian? Nevermind...still too early. I'm ready to brace myself for a couple of bad seasons with this team.
-
Hopefully this is just a repeat of the 08/09 season. I remember when everyone back then wanted AV's head on a stick and trade the entire team away.

These guys need to work on their passing and puck handling skills. Really frustrating to watch all these mishandles and bad passes.
