I think saying they never really wanted Bruce has been way too often overstated. They had the option of not re-upping him this season but they did. Be thinking about this for a while. I don't see Tocchet as someone who will have a huge impact witht he team but as a Canuck fan I will give him a chance. I liked him as a player and he seemed to get Garland going in Arizona and maybe he can get some of the core guys to be more responsible. I am loyal to BB but in doing so I am wanting to see this team do well in the future so if Tocchet is the guy then he deserves the same leeway as all other new Canuck coaches have in the past.

Debatable who the best payer is, Hughes or Petey, either way the most talented player shouldn't be the default captain. You need someone who can be tough and play through injury and adversity and handle the media's tough questions and get the team to pay attention to them. I do not see an obvious choice right now but Petey and Hughes both look promising but do not seem ready just yet.

No captain this year or next. Petey, Hughes and one other can get A's and see who rises up from the bunch.
