  1. Yeah, Jazz is popping around but not saying much and I wouldn’t even know Toews was playing. (Yes I ironic coming from me.) zfetch and Aladeen could both he either - but both so prominent I wouldn’t vote them yet. I could really see one of the subs being mafia but that feels unsportsmanlike until they’ve had a chance to say something.
  2. Kind of bizarre Mafia would go after NIK given he was up for lynch. It was a bit of a hectic nightfall but not so much they couldn’t just pick a safer target. Does cast some suspicion on a possible inactive (at least at nightfall) mafia, unless it is all just some elaborate ruse, which I doubt.
  3. vote J23 - simply because AT seems like he’s dialed in this game.
  4. 10 pages and haven’t seen a single Aladeenis pic. Vote Aladeen
  5. Oh, jeez. Didn’t believe it would happen. Very disappointing - probably the most pro-Canucks (I mean, understandably) place to talk hockey online. HF is straight up toxic and Twitter is incredibly polarizing in Canuck land and just a cesspool of an app. This place was great for talking with actual fans of the team - whether they were positive or negative you could have a good debate and know in the end you were on the same side. Some absolute beauty people on here - and some new faces that I was looking forward to getting to know as well. Admin need to take a tip of the cap as for guiding the whole thing. Overall, a very mature (if sometimes entertainingly spicy) place to talk hockey. In the end most regular users were super respectful - a very rare thing online. Hope to keep in touch with you everyone wherever we migrate to.
  6. The regime will return for one last game if there’s one to be played. (I’ll try my best to stay active!)
  7. nice to see Fin getting some pre season work in. Not even a contract year for him.
  8. Well… there’s Hirose and Johansen making something happen.
  9. Yeah, Hirose not being noticeable means he’s doing his thing. Raty could be on the scoreboard with a bounce or two. I haven’t watched him much but reading / watching highlights hint that he’s one of those guys with a solid foundation and is working on building his peak - in other words, not the type to dominate even in a game like this, he’s just all around quality and working on that flash.
  10. Was he not an overager as well? 2nd round is wild. He couldn’t even hang with the Chicago Wolves - although good for him, still playing Pro in France. Not a bad life, all said and done.
  11. I deleted a post earlier because I didn’t want to look it up (I know I wasn’t going to memorize it anytime soon)
  12. I like the little quips from Rutherford in those clips. Exactly what you want a president to be adding after letting everyone else do the leg work.
  13. I know it’s just the *prospects game* but a top line of Klimovich and McDonough has the kind of size and skill you love to see. (And Sasson / Raty as the top C’s aren’t small either.)
  14. Good news! Although I think my appreciation for Shorthouse thus far is more about him being a part of “the Johns.” We’ll never replace Cheech but hope he finds a good colour guy.
  15. I know we’re still seen as in bottom half of the league, but the prospect pool has really taken a huge leap under Rutherford and Allvin. Even without our blue chippers in Lekkerimaki (who’s been on fire lately) and Willander there’s a lot of interesting guys to watch. Maybe not top of the lineup guys but some nice depth to the pool and a notable uptick in development.
  16. It will be interesting to see how he does anyways.. there’s enough variables (better top 4, better team structure, healthy Demko, better bottom 6 two-way C’s, contract year) that I’m high on him having a bounce back. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise if he struggles either - but my bet is that he does fine. I’d also be legitimately shocked if he’s traded. We’re already thin at 5 regular NHL d men - 6 if you count Irwin. He’s been the go-to RHD on the team for the last 3 coaches. I’ll eat my hat if they move him without a replacement during a “go for it” year. Based on the rumours, I think they explored a Myers for Labanc trade with the idea of buying out Labanc… something changed management’s mind to buying out OEL (SJ dragging their feet and the fact Cole/Soucy/Bleuger wouldn’t wait until Sept 16 to sign with us? Just flat out unconfident in OEL?) but now that that move is made, why trade Myers now? Only exception would be if there’s a move to bring someone in - IMO also unlikely given how late it is in the offseason but I guess we’ll see.
  17. Myers played 2nd most even strength minutes behind Hughes, but was infrequently partnered with Hughes last year. He played mostly with an injured OEL who couldn’t move or even flip the puck up the glass out of the zone last year. He’s been miscast as a shutdown D - and actually held his own when paired with Edler and a healthy OEL. No one is saying he’s worth a 6 mil cap hit but if he’s partnered with Cole or Soucy… or deployed as a 3rd pairing guy in reduced minutes, there’s a lot of reason to think he has a good year. He’s had 2 good seasons with us. It’s not like he’s sucked the whole time. That’s 100% false.
  18. I like this for a few different reasons. Quinn rarely has a bad game, he’s even keeled, he seems to be a straight shooter and with all due respect to some fantastic former captains, English isn’t a second language to him. It’s a pretty easy choice and allows Petey and Miller to bring some intensity without getting bombarded whenever they or the team have a bad game.
  19. I think OEL’s struggles were injury related, not fitness. I can believe Boeser, particularly last year. But it never seemed like a team issue. Edit: I’m all for it if the team is focused up this offseason in the weight room - but I’m always a little cynical about this stuff as we really only see what gets shown to us.
  20. It sure seems like the team is taking this offseason very seriously. I wonder how much of that is hype / media pumping up how hard the team is training. Off the top of my head I’ve read about Boeser, Kuzmenko, Podkolzin, Petey, Hughes and saw a before/after pic of Hronek. All on the topic of training. I didn’t feel like the team (outside of poor Juolevi) was particularly out of shape in previous years. Green ran a notoriously tough camp. But it sure seems like Tocchet’s message was picked up by the Canucks media team - if the players are actually training harder than usual is a nice thought but really - who knows?
