Either this year or next year. Some of the stuff I've read (quotes and such) it sounds like Boeser is inclined to sign after the season ends. But that is just me speculating.

Gallagher is correct in thinking the NCAA and particularly the NCHC is much better then the CHL. Much better to watch too. Especially the NCAA tournament, that was some great hockey. It reminded me of world junior hockey. The frozen 4 should be a treat.

I'd say NCHC and Hockey East are pretty equal as far as quality of competition.  the teams in the northeast and Midwest are pretty much  always the top teams.

Yes.  I was being facetious with how bad benning has been with handing out contracts to plugs like sbisa and dorsett.

I do hope dimjim gets Demko signed though so he can play in the AHL next year.  One of the few bright spots for our nucks.

maybe pepper in a few less "dimjims".  you're clearly peddling a dumb rhyme you came up with but you're oversaturating the market.  it's like when the Nintendo wii came out.  if you only release a few at a time, you can keep interest up enough to compete with xbox and playstation.

Anyway, I don't think Miller is going anywhere next year; even at the TDL.  markstrom and miller will be a good combo again next year.  it gets interesting the year after.  will demko be able to step in as the backup after only 1 season of AHL experience?  depends if he signs on for next season of course. but it would be great if he could fill that role so the org doesn't have to pick up a vet to be markstroms backup for a year or 2.

lol. Just imagine the life style change from the KHL to the NHL. I suspect Tryamkin will keep doors open for a possible Soviet national team spot but I doubt he will want to train in Russia after this run of games. Add to that his exposure to other Russians playing here now. Send the kid up to the Kootenays and we will feed him up on good beef! = 10 pounds more muscle!

I hope he stays in Van for summer training.  there has to be some of the guys sticking around that he can skate and train with.

Also, the Soviet Union dissolved 25 years ago.

we get it. you were in favour of drafting Nylander. what can we do about it now? lol. water under the bridge if you ask me.

There is no such thing to him.  save your logical thinking for someone else

I agree that his summer will likely determine his fate next year. But unlike this year, we don't HAVE to keep him up to develop him. If Utica was an option this year, that's where he'd be right now IMO. We also have a LOT of forwards we'll need room for next season. I don't see him making it on a crowded roster when he can be sent to Uitca as depth and to dominate.

I'd prefer to continue to develop him as a C frankly and just do it at a lower level (as he's clearly not ready yet to do it in the NHL now). Though I'd agree he might still spend at least part of his next run on the Canucks on wing,  in 2 seasons, before moving back.

You make good points, him remaining in Van as a winger is just my preference.  I think what you or I have presented are the better options than a sink or swim type of season as a center in the NHL.

Why? McCann has all the talent in the world but he needs to get bigger, learn to be a pro and learn to play against men. Short of a KILLER summer, he's better off in Utica next season IMO. He'll be a leader on that team and play all situations. Far better for him IMO.

There's no better place than the NHL if the guy can handle the speed.  he'll be a little less exposed as a winger.  plus, it gives some versatility.  He's got a long summer to gain strength.

I guess you could in theory, we need him to play in the nhl and use his size more, neither he or Boeser are LW so they wouldnt all be on the same line I dont think.

If we are truly rebuilding I think Virtanen is for sure on the team next year and Likely they make room for McCann if he has a good off season and that could push Vey out or on a 2way deal.

McCann would need to be on 3rd line though, maybe they try to convert him to a winger for a year or 2 to take some stress and responsibility off of him.

Boeser I would like to see in Utica hopefully working with T Green, but he could easily stay in College and that would be fine also. Just dont rush or put too much expecations on him and let him develop. Let him go into next years WJC and lets see what he can do their, I know I am curious if he can step up and be a key guy for the US

I'd much prefer to see McCann in a secondary scoring role as a winger than to see him sent down to Utica.  though I find the Utica scenario to be entirely an invention of this fan base and not something that is a truly viable option.

I was totally just being a douche and making commentary on how inexact scouting and drafting is.  I love do Virt's game though.

As for Larkin, I have a good friend connected to the Wings and I can tell you from their mouth, to my ear, to my fingers, to your eyes, that he has exceeded their expectations thus far.

this was fun to read, thank you.

Vey was 'gifted' a spot for two key reasons.

    1-A lack of better options.

2-Regardless of what you think of Vey's ability/skill set, 9/10 times WD put him on the ice, he knew what he was going to get.

    It's really that simple.

and it completely ignores the fact that Vey has actually been pretty good.

  10. I personally think he could be persuaded to spend some time in the AHL, once he gets to Vancouver.  If they can show him that it's all part of the process, I think the positives of staying in NA to tune up his game will shine through.

5 shot attempts in 4 games.

Yeah, I'm not feeling this trade at all. Hope he manages to do something that impresses me.

how many different ways do you need to say you didn't like trading away shinkaruk?

Sergachev?  Another big mean Russian D.  His ceiling comparable is Dennis Potvin.

that's what i'm hoping for.  or one of the forwards, preferably Dubois.

Getting sergachev would be great.  a few years ago i would have never expected we'd be in a position to have russian defensemen being half of the D corps rebuild.

Trust a guy named Brad over Igor, on Russian players?   :o  The Big Russian Bear is on his way.  He wants it.  The Canucks want him.  It's a done deal.  I'm pretty sure this Ziemer doesn't speak Russian, and Igor does.

Correction, we want it.  there's work to be done to make it happen.

Hope he destroys somebody before season ends, goals are nice but as a Canucks fan seeing an opposing player enter slumberland would ease my frustrations about this yearB).  And for those who say "Hey, how can you wish that upon anyone?"  Simple:  I hope he injures someone with a legit hit.

Bizarre.  this comes off like you forget that NHL players are humans.  you shouldn't wish injuries on people, no exceptions.

Just wish for a highlight reel hit and leave it at that.
