  1. nice. Did you get a chance to talk to the other fighters or did you just pass by them and say hi or something?
  2. there are more failures than champions with TUF. Forrest Griffin is the only champion TUF has ever produced. Matt Serra was already a UFC fighter before the show. Plus without that straight title shot Matt Serra would not have worked his way up to GSP. Look what happened when he lost, he basically fell of the map. The reason why The Ultimate Fighters are frowned upon is because the UFC doesnt want to sign the best fighters out there always. They sign a few big names and then they fill the rest with tuffers to save them money. When they say they will win a 6 figure contract, the reality is that its not a one fight deal. They have many fights on their contract. MMAPAYOUT.com did a story on that. So basically if you lose one or two fights out of that 5-6+ fight deal they kick you out of the UFC and you dont get paid the six figures. And if you divide that amount, it basically only adds up to something like 15 grand a fight or something. There are some fighters there with good pedigrees like Rashad Evans who was an all state wrestler and trained under Dan Severn the old UFC fighter. Kos who was an all american wrestler or something, but generally the guys are picked because they are cheap. They could easily sign better talent from other organizations but they will want too much money. But this way UFC sign them cheap to a long term contract, makes money off the tv show then hypes this person up and when they lose they kick them out of the UFC and hype someone from the new season. These arent guys that fought their way into the UFC. Thats why you dont see guys like Sergei Kharitonov, Alex Emalieneko, Fedor, Ninja Rua, Frank Shamrock, Matt Lindland, Cung Le, Frank Trigg, Jason Mayhem Miller etc. Because they want too much money and UFC wants someone cheaper to fill out a division. Lower quality but increase quantity. Werdum was suppose to get a title shot but he lost last fight and was kicked out of the UFC heavyweight division. Forrest Griffin is legit though. I mean he beat Shogun and won a close one to Rampage. But generally TUF fighters are brought in because they are cheap substitutes they can make more money off of. Bisping is 3-0 at middleweight but he beat McCarthy (not in UFC no more after loss) Jason Day (average fighter) and Leben (average fighter who is suspended now for steroid use) And i disagree, I think Bisping got his donkey beat by Hammill. It didnt even look close. Horrible judgement. Thats why the UK crowd was booing bisping that UFC. They thought the judging was bad) Who did he fight at LHW? Josh Haynes? Erich Schaefer, Elvis Sinosic?? who are these people. Bisping is sheduled in a way where he can avoid the big names so that the UFC market him in the UK by keeping him winning. If he loses they lose their main UK draw. Thats why 4 of his 6 UFC fight have been in the UK. In general the ultimate fighter winners are made to fight other cans to hype them up. ...damn i write a lot.. I guess i just type fast....
  3. an earthling cant vote in an intergalactic alien election!
  4. I think the crappy thing about the middleweight division is that they are all just The Ultimate Fighter cast members. Cote Leben Lutter Bisping. Anderson Silva is basically fighting all the TUF cast members as contenders. That division is lacking real big name talent. Just tv show people that arent pros yet and the UFC hypes up. Since then Lutter has gotten kicked out of the UFC for sucking, Leben is suspended for taking steroids in his fight against Bisping, Cote shouldnt have gotten a title shot in the first place but the talent pool was weak, and now Bisping as a contender is lacking because he lost to matt hammill but the judges for some reason gave him the fight. I was kind of excited in seeing paulo filho come into the UFC. But that dude has some major issues. Did anyone see his last fight in WEC? man was it brutal. I dont know if he threw a punch the whole fight. He went 3 rounds of ducking punches. He was battling depression before and it seems he still hasnt beaten it yet because he seemed uninterested in the fight. Theres talks that Chael Sonnen will get the next title shot against Anderson Silva. Some dude from WEC who lost to babalu, jereremy horn and couldnt finish a depressed Filho. heres that fight if someone wants to watch http://www.mma-core.com/videos/_Paulo_Filh...067&tid=100 hopefully he wont get a title shot right away because hes an iffy fighter from the little ive seen of him. Maybe someone here has better insight. I want Denis Kang to be the middleweight champion. That would rock.
  5. Florian fought great. I like the fact that he finally called out BJ Penn. Because im pretty sure hes annoyed that he should have had a title shot a few fights ago already but they made him fight stevenson, and now they probably want one more fight from him since bj wants to waste another 6-8 months for the lightweight division. Im not sure if Kenflo will just wait it out. Couture vs Lesnar was ok. I actually wasnt that impressed with Lesnar this fight. I mean the dude hits like crazy but it was shocking to see him getting pushed around by Randy in the fence. I was thinking that he would just bowl his way out of there or pick randy up and slam him back. And Randy was able to get out of the mount position quite well. Gonzanga vs Lesnar seems like it would be an interesting fight. Two big guys throwing bombs at one another. Tim Sylvia would be a good fight too since he has the reach/power to punch brock at a distance. I think Noguiera is going to take a beating from Lesnar if they fight and then go on to submit him like he usually does in all the fights. Mir vs Lesnar II is rediculous haha. After 2 fights he gets a rematch after not proving much. But then i guess they want more of the WWE viewers to watch UFC to make it more popular. Same reason BJ gets a welterweight title shot without actually fighting his way up just like his first title shot against Hughes where he didnt fight his way up. Its pretty much why BJ is considered great. Because he only fight title shots really. If he loses its to the champ, if he wins then they hype as the greatest ever. Chances are that if he had to fight his way up he would lose to a bunch of guys at Welterweight (fitch, alves, kos maybe diego) and then they wont be able to hype him up and they would lose pay per view draws. Heres video of BJ and GSP behind the scenes on Saturday in Dana Whites blog. If you dont know by any chance Dana White keeps a video blog of what happens behind the scenes at the UFC. You can check out the rest of his video blogs here: http://www.youtube.com/user/UFC
  6. Too bad Gonazaga is fight someone ive never heard. I wanted to see him in a good fight. in regards to Lesnar vs Couture. I think if Lesnar wins he will maul Couture like a bear. If couture wins it will be a long 5 round decision. The WEIGH INS ARE ON RIGHT NOW AT UFC.com 4pm!!! or ESPN http://assets.espn.go.com/livenow/MMA/mmaLive.html and YAHOO if are you trouble finding it.
  7. I think the lightweight division fight is being overlooked because BJ Penn is screwing everything up there. Stevenson took an donkey kicking from BJ then won one match and now he fights florian? I mean florian should have gotten his title shot when he beat Huerta.. Stevenson should be out of the mix. Plus the crappy thing is that whoever wins this match will have to fight again anywasys since the BJ/GSP fight is in January 31 or something. So BJ will fight again in LW at probably.. May 2009? If he wins then does he stay at Welterweight? Because then if he fights at WW for one fight then the next LW title fight is scheduled for Oct 2009? Poor florian haha the dude might lose the next couple of fights and get no title shot at all. I dont know why Dana did this. He should have waited until GSP lost or BJ was able to fight his way to the top of WW. BJ now believes that if he beats GSP he is the best in the world....as stated on an interview on mmarated.com without fighting anyone else at WW... how lame. He should have to work his way up. He probably would lose to many of the WW's. Beating Hughes in 2003 shouldnt equal a title shot in 2009.
  8. Well i think Pratt and Taylor are a little off. Someone asked Pratt a question before i remember. THey said would you rather have the Canucks win the stanley cup or the lions win the grey cup. And he said Lions with the grey cup. I was like what??? Winning the grey cup is whatever. With only 8 teams in the league the odd of you winning a grey cup are pretty good. Stanley Cup is a whole different level. CFL is the best team in Canada. NHL is the best team in the world. I shocked to hear pratt say this but I guess he just loves football that much. So i guess it wouldnt really matter what they say. Taylor says that he is a cheapskate. So i doubt he pays to watch any of the UFC's. He just reads the teleprompter. I think Taylor said he didnt even watch some canucks ppv games. Pratt missed some too. Kinda odd. Cause when its your job to talk about the previous night of hockey... well you should at least watch the game even when its not free. Im kinda surprised that the event isnt just comped to their business. Not sure.. maybe they missed a couple games... Anyways though... this is being billed the biggest fight in UFC history.. I have to say.. ugh no though. Its good but honestly its an old dude vs a rookie mma fighter. To me a big fight is 2 guys in their prime both doing damn well. But i guess viewer wise this is big because the fact that so many WWE viewers will want to watch brock fight Randy. If Randy loses though, this will look bad. I mean someone billed as the best heavyweight champion in the world (UFC does not mention fedor here or give Nog that much love compared to couture) losing to a guy in his 3rd fight in the UFC. Hes massive but his skill level is low. I guess we have yet to see though if Brock can take a punch. He hasnt been tagged before so it might interesting. Like Bob Sapp who looks massive but couldnt handle getting punched well. Tough to call though.. will lesnar mandhandle Randy being 60 pounds heavier.. or will Lesnar drop because he cant handle getting punched in the head. Should be interesting to watch though..
  9. in a recent interview GSP said that BJ has some holes in his game that he wants to exploit. seems BJ took that as an insult and is taking a few pot shots at GSP at the end, saying he doesn't need to wear fancy clothes or try to be professional like GSP. I like it. BJ always talks trash but no one delivers it back. I like GSP giving that subtle shot. I think it was an interview from Brazil in that one. http://www.themmanews.com/?p=2068
  10. ^thanks for the heads up panda. i was thinking it was on at 6-7 ufc style. Paulo Filho was 7 pounds overweight.. haha he didnt even try.. so now its a 3 round non title fight. Looks like he did this on purpose so he could take the title to UFC when that division is merged into the UFC. He should be stripped of the title though because this was not fair to his opponent. Weigh in pics here http://www.combatlifestyle.com/pics/view_a...1343&page=1
  11. YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!! B) Vancouver represent!!!!!! Finally a good fighter in the middleweight division that isnt overhyped from The Ultimate Fighter.
  12. hehe I think Dennis was kind annoyed by the fight too. Later he said that he trained 3 months for 48 second or something :D seems Chuck vs Silva is not happening it seems.. UFC 92 list is out Are they serious? Putting Okami on the undercard. This is a guy that is suppose to be top contender in the middleweight division and they are not even televising his fight? It got bumped off for someone on the ultimate fighter??? outraaaaage!
  13. http://mma.fanhouse.com/2008/10/28/ufc-95-...on-february-21/ actually the rumour is that Anderson Silva will fight Chuck Liddell at UFC 95 on Feb 21 at the moment. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_ylt=Aqvt...o&type=lgns I think Chuck weighs around 225 as well before cutting. Finally he would fight a dude his same size/reach for once. Id like to see this fight more than silva/gsp. GSP is an actual welterweight. Dude is 5'10 walks around at 185. But it would have been better when Chuck was actually winning, then to fight him when the dude just got knocked the hell out. Both Chuck and Anderson are 6'2. So none of that long reach jabbing to keep the person at bay. He would have to fight from the pocket for once. He should have been in Lightheavyweight all along actually. Its bizarre why he cuts so much weight to fight smaller guys at MW. Probably always wants a reach advantage.
  14. if only Patrick would have tweaked his nipples! The GSP Song!!
  15. yeah you have a point. Thats probably what he meant. That Anderson couldnt figure Cote out with Patrick changing his stances over and over.
  16. haha :D yeah when Rashad Knocked out Liddell Rogan was like "oh look at him showboat." Silva runs for 3 rounds and they are like "wow, fantastic! amazing!" Completely disrespecting Fedor, GSP, Wanderlei, Shogun etc. Like what they do is complete crap. And they really disrespected Cote by making it look like he was fighting some highschool kid. Anderson could have taken a nap in the middle of the octagon and they would be like "this is incredible! he is p4p the best sleeper in the world! i mean look at how his legs are perfectly aligned sideways, look at the angle of his neck!" I mean i think Anderson is a good fighter but the hype they've created around him is so large with Dana, Joe, Goldy that its just a huge lie to the public. This is as bad as how Kimbo was being hyped as the face of MMA. When Seth knocked out Kimbo the announcers said "OMG!!!!! this is the biggest upset in MMA HISTORY!!!!!!" hah i was like eh.. no. Not even close to like Crocop vs Gonzaga. Cote looked super drunk when he said that haha. He goes "yeah i effed him up" and then some drunk in the back goes "HE EFFED HIM UP!!" hahah.
  17. hmm yeah thats odd. the fight went back and forth. Griffin has a short reach so this was a perfect fight because they both pretty much has the same arm length. You know I have no idea what Anderson was thinking. It looked like he didnt know what to do. Like he tried to throw some combos at Patrick, but then Patrick took them and punched back. When he tried to kick cote, cote caught them. Cote kept moving forward and Anderson kept running away. No idea what the hell happened there. I dont even know what he was trying to prove. He was either scared that Cote would knock him out, or he was so confident he would win, he got cocky and started playing around by doing Muhammed Ali stuff, then bobbing his head, fiddling his fists, jogging sideways. The crowd started booing Silva, and so I thought that he would realize this isnt cool and go in for the kill. But like the dude did nothing.. The weirdest thing out of all of it is hearing the crowd booing at their displeasure while Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg are praising Anderson for being so quick.. haha it was like eh? what the hell is going on here. At the post fight conference even the reporters were confused as to what the heck that was. I guess you are going to have to watch the fight then you can post what you thoughts. You kept thinking he was going to bring it any minute now but more jogging. It kind of felt like you are watching 2 brothers play fight in a park. like this moment: edit: the ref says should i stand him up, and Silva kicks him and goes um ill help him up instead, and cote is like what the heck??
  18. The sherk griffin fight was awesome man! Alves/Kos was good not great but i wont ruin it for ya Yeah lots of people were turned off by Anderson's antics. When Cote was on the ground he didnt move back to let Patrick up. He just hovered and Cote was in the defensive position. Then he sticks his arm out to help him up. And everyone was like eh? this is a fight if you want him to stand up just move back and the ref will stand it up.
  19. far too many times? Well thanks for being a lurker and never actually contributing to the ufc thread until you see a spelling error and jump in. Is that all the insight you bring to this thread? That I spelled it Sylvia in one paragraph and then the correct Silva in another? Look what Dana White had to say "“If you don’t know him and you showed up for the first time, you’d [think] that guy was goofing around, he was acting arrogant and cocky and trying to play with [Cote] like he was a little kid,” White said. “That is not this guy’s style, that’s not his personality, that’s not who he is.” Heavy blows? they did nothing. Why do you think Anderson Silva was booed? You mean punching 2-3 times every 5 minutes action? Cote was not even hurt. He ran from his plain and simple. You probably didnt even watch Pride Fighting did you? You probably only started to watch the UFC because of The Ultimate Fighter. Yes pretending you are Michael Jackson when shaking your opponents hand after beating him is real humble? Then after walking away going "whooooooo" over and over again is real modest. have you ever seen this footage before? oh probably not because your just some lurker that thinks he knows mma. If you have something to contribute here go for it, or do you want to wait another 20 pages until you find another spelling error that you can pounce on?
  20. seems a lot of people are pretty outraged at Silvas antics at how he disrespcted Cote. people are pretty pissed off on a lot of the mmaboards like sherdog, mmaweekly and stuff. They felt he disrespected Cote by jogging around him, and then giving his arm out to help Cote up, among other things. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/mma_experts
  21. I think his bone popped out. If you check out his knee look at the side of it. You will see it pop to the side a bit. Heres the video people: http://www.mmaroot.com/anderson-silva-vs-p...e-ufc-90-video/ watch it in mute haha.
  22. hah you know I thought you were at the fight. While i was watching i was thinking.. hmm johnny from CDC must be pissed at this crapfest. Good thing you missed it. The Kos fight was pretty good and the Sherk Griffin match was probably the best fight to start a UFC ever. Back and forth. there there, we all have to let go of the shaolin monk dream sometime.. Sylvia looked like he did in the Ryo Chonan fight where he fought someone that can take his punches and Sylvia can do nothing else. For the first minute it seemed like he was trying to find his range. But i mean 10 minutes later if you are still trying to find your range.. well then you have no range. Cote fought smart, he kept changing stances so confuse Anderson. Anderson kicked him, but Cote checked it, then Anderson kicked and Cote drilled him, he let go Anderson kicked him again and again Cote caught it and tried for another punch. Anderson hit Cote in the head with a couple of combos but Patrick was not even fazed. Patrick waited for anderson to get in the pocket like he usually does and then he was going to take his punch and hit him. I think he even wobbled Silva for a bit in a close encounter. Patrick was actually the agressor in the whole fight. He kept pushing forward and at one point Anderson actually jogged around the Octagon, like he basically did one to two full laps as Cote kept chasing him. And it wasnt a slow jog, it was liek a super quick workout jog. I mean i guess you can check out the fight when its up, because I dont like Anderson because hes overhyped and yesterday proved what happens, but Anderson had nothing for Cote. He didnt want to get knocked out so he kept jogging around the octagon for 10 minutes. In round 1 he probably threw like 3-4 punches. Even the crowd started booing Anderson. The funny thing was the commentating was sooooo biased. When Kalib Starnes started running the commentating was like "and kalib keeps running away, he will not stand and trade" When anderson did the exact same thing "anderson is trying to find his range.." like 10 minutes go by and the crowd is booing "ooooh the spider throw a combo oh my!!!!" and the dude threw like 1 punch ever 3 minutes or something. It was pathetic. Most people that say he was trying to find his range were influenced by the commentators on Silvas nuts. They believe he won round 1 by throwing 2 punches or something.. and cote was chasing him for the ko. If you get a chance to watch the fight... watch it in mute first. Then listen to the commentating... and you will see a huge difference. UFC makes fun of kimbo on how much hyped he gets, yesterday was horrible. No mention of GSP or BJ or Fedor. They were praising the guy that ran for 3 rounds. No one was ever in trouble. Basically the fight was 11 minutes of Anderson running and Cote chasing him. Nothing really happened.
  23. What a horrible main event. I cant believe how much nut hugging went on for anderson by goldie and jo rogan. "P4p the best! he is above all else! people like this only comes once in a lifetime, they will talk about anderson for centuries" then when they were commentatiing they kept salivating at everything anderson did... and he did nothing haha. He ran around the octagon for 2 rounds basically and into the 3rd before that freak injury. p4p my donkey. He cant even take out Cote and cote is an average fighter with no ground skills. Good on Cote though the dude went in there and was the agressor in the fight. What a snooze fest man.. If this was the first UFC someone saw and they saw all the silva hype and then watch him run for 10 minutes.. and the commentators saying his great he looks running around.. man.. they would be confused..
