[RUMOUR] Vancouver and Columbus in trade talks
billabong replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Kinda…A lot of that was chatter amongst Canucks fans not actually factual on the market value horvats trade value is higher than millers ever was…Miller is viewed as a winger by the league while horvat is a bonfire C who ever everyone highly values -

Friedman also mentions WSH is a team to watch when it comes to horvat Horvat has treated us with an opportunity we have had in a decade and that is trade a pending UFA when they are having a career year. It’s a golden opportunity to properly RESET this core. He is a pending 40 goal scorer, 1B center, 55% on face offs and plays a playoff hockey style game soooo I want the moon For example, If cbj wants horvat with an 8x8 extension in place the starting price is Johnson or jiricek (but that might be unrealistic) so then I want your next 3 strong young players To van: roslovic, sillinger, peeke or boqvist, 1st round pick 2023 (top 5 protected or moves to a 2024 unprotected 1st) to cbj: horvat with an 8x8 extension We acquire a 2nd and 3rd line center, 2nd pairing RHD and a 1st rounder -

I don’t remember what I had for breakfast but I still remember when Bob McKenzie came on the tv 14 years ago for a quick update after July 1st coverage was over and said gaborik has signed with the rangers and my heart sank in disbelief -

Boy that was ugly…not sure what to think -
this teams number 1 need is the most lucrative asset in the NHL, a top 4 right hand shot defenseman and everyone thinks the canucks haven't been trying to acquire one... "Trade Miller for Dobson" "Trade Horvat for Carlo" "Trade Boeser for Dumba" "Trade Garland for Severson" don't you think if these trades were available to jimmy he would have made the trade by now? Toronto has been looking for a top 4 right hand shot D for 10 years it feels like they eventually gave up and signed a left hand shot D who can play the right side in Brodie when Rutherford took over he said this is a 2 year project and I'd say he's still on pace to acheive that BELIEVE ME I am as impatient, frustrated, fed up and embarrassed as some of you might be and its hard to wait a another year so BUT that's how badly Benning F&*cked this team for years to come....no one was gonna clean up this mess in 12 months... no one

Let me clarify, they get the blame for moves they’ve made for sure BUT the overall performance of the team still echos benning’s doing after 7 years of mismanagement of the cap, bad drafting, trading away picks and prospect for “project players” and spending too much in free agency I didn’t support re-signing Miller and boeser then and I still don’t. They were signed to fair market value deals but it wasn’t the right move for the Canucks the market for wingers has cratered and the management group saw that so they held onto the asset…at least for now -

I think A LOT of fans seem to forget benning’s fingerprints are still all over this team and need to give the new management a little bit of a break. Allvin and Rutherford took over an impossible task of moving out money and turning this around within a year -

I don’t understand why the Canucks continue to put Miller out there on the PK his underlying numbers are awful right now and statistically one the worst penalty killers in the league -

Oh I’m with ya there Miller is a winger but it takes two to tango and if this team is out of the playoff mix around TD again and Allvin has said no one is walking for nothing if horvat isn’t signed at the TD, he’s gone …as he should be we can’t afford to let that asset walk -

Bruce finally found the right combo in the top 6 miller-horvat-garland kuzmenko-pettersson-mikheyev those 6 guys are leading the charge and that’s the way this team is designed to win horvat is playing with the best line mates of his career in a year BOOSTING his trade value …coincidence? Perhaps -

[Discussion] Do You Have the Stomach For a Rebuild?
billabong replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
Let’s Define “rebuild” first are we talking a complete tear down? That’s means bye Pettersson, hughes and demko and start aaaaaallll over again and be a tire fire for 5+ years Small Rebuild/reset where anyone but pettersson, hughes and demko are available for draft picks and prospects and suck for this year and next for sure. Essentially just turn the core over a bit retool and kiss this year goodbye flip a couple forwards for D or prospects/picks/cap space then come back next year to compete for the playoffs I wanted the core to turn over a little last summer so a small rebuild is still my choice
