  1. He was never a top-4 guy, though. Well, not in the traditional sense, anyway. More like a Poolman in Winnipeg, or how Aaron Rome was for us way back when. Isn't about time we stop with the lotto tickets and just go out and get the real thing?
  2. One post from one user, in which he was saying that line in response to a comment about there being "haters" doing their usual bit. The gist of his message is what you should be reading into, anyway. For any given move that happens with this team, there are two sides. Those that like it and those that don't. Guess which side makes it a habit to tell the other side just how wrong they are, how vile they are, how negative, how toxic, how fake, etc? Consider that for a moment. Hope this helps.
  3. I don't believe that's true, but for argument's sake, if you are correct, that's one of about ten moves I listed there that's "necessary". Not a great view of our asset management, is it?
  4. When and where did anybody talk about oppression? The only thing disingenuous here is taking what I said (rather innocuous comments from an opinion, I should add), and crying about it.
  5. It's only a 2nd for Linden Vey It's only a 6th for Emerson Etem It's only a 3rd for Andrey Pedan It's only a 2nd with Jared McCann It's only 3M for Sam Gagner It's only 3M each for Antoine Roussel and Jay Beagle It's only 1.9M for Tim Schaller It's only a 2nd and Tyler Madden It's only 2.5M for Tucker Poolman It's only a 2nd to dump Jason Dickinson And when playoffs roll around, it's ALWAYS the Canucks on the outside looking in. Makes you wonder...
  6. It's no surprise the same guy who had the Loui and Confuse react removed is now trying to police fans and their behaviour because it doesn't align with his. Evidently, he's used to complaining and getting his way, so I'm not surprised to see him at the forefront of this pathetic gatekeeping. How so much would be different if people exercised their privileges of not clicking threads, not responding, using their ignore functions, etc. without their first thought being "how can I impact others to suit my needs".
  7. Indeed. Whether injuries led to this, or previous interest was always there in some capacity with other teams, they didn't need to resort to the nuclear option.
  8. Your words, not mine. I just laughed at this move and pointed out the obvious here (he's a waiver-tier player, retention or not). That's the extent to what I said. Some don't take kindly to hearing the truth, I'd wager.
  9. The idea around this is that Carolina was actively looking to find a solution for Ethan. If something hadn't materialized in the form of a trade, they would have waived him to get him games in the AHL.
  10. Who's bitching? The majority of the complaints are from the individuals who don't want to see the justified criticism stemming from this move. They feel the need to mindless protect the team, as per. The truth is, Canucks shouldn't be dealing picks, nor is Ethan Baer fixing anything in the grand scheme of things. These are just facts and the people pointing this out and discussing this aren't bitching, or trolling, or whatever buzzword. Hope this helps.
  11. Probably not. But, because he's a new shiny toy, some fans will forego using their brains and engage in anti-intellectualism to convince themselves this is a good move.
  12. Getting cap retention on *maybe* a 6th dman. Who got beat out by...an 8th defenceman...that couldn't crack our team. I mean, at this point, yeah, I probably am smarter than management. The bar is pretty low though, I'll admit.
  13. Thank you for the personal anecdote. I always enjoy reading these as an out-of-town fan. The thing that sticks out to me the most is the comment about 3 years or so it took to turn things around. For whatever reason, people here assume that bottoming out means 10 years in the gutter. Not at all. I mean, look at some of the progress we made with just Pettersson and Hughes in their second and first full seasons, respectively. Could have been even better, I imagine, if we had made better 1st round choices in 2014 and 2016. While I maintain we're quite a few years away from fixing this mess, taking a step back and getting a Bedard, for example, would go a long way to fixing that. Another top selection the year after, as well. This irony in this is that trying to remain competitive, as we have been, has put us in this decade long purgatory of mediocrity that people seem to fear with rebuilds. Maybe it's time some fans, but importantly, the ownership, rethink things.
  14. What? I'm saying whatever benefit he could bring to this team was not worth trading for. He got beat out by Jalen Chatfield - the same guy who couldn't win a spot on our terrible defence group. Put that into perspective for a moment. So, yeah, what do I care if another team claimed him ahead of us? I don't, so it matters not.
