  1. Not a fair comment to make, IMO. Many people have seen this story play out before. It happened with Linden Vey, Sven Baertschi, Emerson Etem, etc. Maybe Ethan Bear is more established than those guys, but at this point in time, is it really worth chucking a pick for? Shouldn't we be trying to hold on to picks? As well, person you quoted isn't a Canucks fan..
  2. A bit better on the surface. But still, not a player I would have paid for, retention or now. That's just me.
  3. Lol. They couldn't have waited a week until he hit waivers? Dumbest franchise in the league. By a landslide.
  4. Podkolzin is just not that great at hockey, at this moment. He's young, and time is on his side, but if Bruce is trying to win hockey games, I don't blame him for shortening the bench and relying on his producers.
  5. While I agree that the present (i.e "Today") is, perhaps, the only guarantee we have, we've been in that mode for the better part of 10-11 years now. We talk about a losing culture, but what exactly has our culture been since 2012/2013? Has it not been a losing one? If there is one thing I'm certain about, it's that if management and ownership came out today and said that it's time to take a step back and re-start again, the fan support would be larger than ever. That, if the team made moves to rebuild properly (i.e trying to acquire picks, not committing huge contracts, or making trades that try to accelerate the team state), there would be more appreciation toward the team. I mean, the team is in such a dire state right now and the outpour of support from some fans is still as strong as ever. You have some fans looking at 1-5-2 start and thinking the season is still salvageable. Tell me those fans wouldn't support a rebuild - of course they would. We may have to agree to disagree (and that's fine), but I'm positive that if we finally admit we got it wrong all these years with how we approached building our team, we'd be on a much better path toward the future.
  6. Sorry, I guess I was once teammates with another "bishopshodan"... And no, tanking is 100% the way forward. The only thing I'll be wrong about is that this management and ownership won't bother to see it the same way. Regardless, I demand transparency and responsibility from others, therefore, I will admit my faults and wrongdoings, if and when they happen. So if you were, in fact, not in the mafia game, my apologies. Likewise, if this team, by some miracle, manages to have a fairly good season (let's say, making playoffs and winning a round), then I will hold my hands up and say I got it wrong.
  7. I appreciate the structure and segmented comment here. As I've always maintained, I never aim to offend or be harmful toward people, so I would like to apologize for the remark. Perhaps, I should have said "Those with disagree with me, which may include you" as an alternative. As for my closing statements, they are simply something we all must deal with. We live in a world where comments should be helpful, and things should make you wonder, or people's word are their own and not mine (or yours). I just try to say it as I see it in real time. [Whatever you want goes here]
  8. Actually, I was praising D-Money. Not sure how you interpreted this as a condescending remark. I would like to see a consistent and legitimate winning team. A team that could mount a challenge for the Stanley Cup, and not one that just squeaks in and makes up the numbers. I would encourage the supportive fans, as you say, to continue to supporting as they see fit. I would strong recommend against, however, seeing such a performance from last night as a defining moment in the season. The Vancouver Canucks, for some time and certainly in this moment, are NOT a playoff team. In other words, as happy as fans can be with the win, I would not suggest to use this win as a time to get back at the "haters" or "trolls", much less think the "true" Canucks played last night. This win, in my opinion, is simply an opportunity to be happy for a quick moment. If people like yourself disagree, so be it, but always remember that I will be spot on this matter, as I have been with virtually everything else. [You know what goes here]
  9. Celebration police.. The truth is, the celebration police are not great in my books. Individually, we live tough lives. We live lives that require resilience and fortitude every single day. And sometimes, for the two and a half hours a game is on, we need that for nourishment, reset, and restoring balance. It's a hobby, but it's also an escape, and there's no shame in admitting that. That's just how powerful sports are, and regardless of what you think of sport culture, a reminder that we (as a collective) can share so much together. It's a reminder that life, as hard as it is, can be fun, or relaxing, or exciting, so on and so forth. So, when we watch a game and the team we support is successful, we should celebrate. Full stop. If celebrating means having smile on your face, or coming on to a forum and posting "WOOOO" - so be it. Fans deserve to be as happy as they want. On this note, it's important for all fans to remember that not everybody wants to support the team in the ways in which you do. In particular, a win isn't the time to be vengeful or spiteful. Happiness doesn't need to be a zero sum game where we need to throw into people's faces. At the end of the day, there are no "haters" or "trolls"; just fans, all hoping for different outcomes. Hope this helps.
  10. Not a word of a lie spoken here. Naturally, as we've come to expect from D-Money, a great post here that sums up what Canucks fans should have been seeing from the game last night, beyond the final score.
  11. Hopefully Miller is healthy...can't exactly trade him if he's on the IR.
  12. Boeser out of the lineup and the Canucks score 5 Makes you wonder...
  13. The Big Unit a fan of the Canucks?
  14. I'm inclined to agree. Forsling was having a huge D+1 when we traded him. I suppose I just look at it as: We don't draft D as it is, much less RHD. Probably should at least see what we have before shipping them off?
  15. Odd trade. He'll probably be put on waivers within the next six months. Other than that, good to get DiPietro a home after we all but ruined his career here. As well, let's hope Myrenberg isn't Forsling all over again - would be the funniest thing if the team, that can't/refuses to draft good defencemen as it is, manages to give up yet another solid defenceman.
  16. And for good reason. I could never lie to paying supporters and customers over and over again about pipedream cup aspirations. Fans deserve transparency about the team they funnel money into, not performative "votes of confidence" or "state of the unions" like we see now. With this, I leave you with a parting message. There will be a day in the future when you will realize what I have been saying was correct all along and that I only wanted the best for this team. You may not see it now, but you damn well will. I promise you that. Until then, cheers and enjoy the game.
