  1. They get a C+ - Did well to move Hamonic. Average player, awful contract, and represents everything that was wrong with the last regime. - Overpaid a bit to get Dermott, but younger, cheaper, and bit of untapped potential. - Didn't do too great with the Motte trade, but got something for a player that would have been walking More moves hopefully made in the summer.
  2. Also, loling at the OP. Apparently, two days ago we weren't allowed to complain. Now, we can
  3. Pretty meh deadline, but you take the positives where you can. Saved 1.5M going into next year, didn't overpay to re-sign a 4th liner (and got a pick out of it). Small + for bringing back a fan favourite in Richardson. Benning's destruction of this team + Aquilini's chokehold on decision-making will takes years to fix, but nobody said this would be easy.
  4. Is this was a "low-blow", what was losing Toffoli/Markstrom/Tanev for free?
  5. Make no mistake, Allvin/Rutherford got a meh deal, but they did the responsible thing to get a pick. Take the wins where you can. We'll be fine.
  6. Wait, why didn't the Red Wings re-sign him? How will they ever replaced him!?!?!
  7. Meh, it's easy enough to read in between the lines here. If all it was going to take to get Motte to stay was under 2M, he'd probably still be here.
  8. The "reasonable extension" wasn't going to come. As for the return, Max Domi just returned a late 3rd from last year in the CAR-CBJ deal. Ryan Carpenter got a 5th. Mason Appleton a 4th. Forward market dried up towards the end. The Canucks did the responsible thing to get something for Motte.
  9. Sorry. My apologies for generalizing the five or so people with a brain who understand why this was a fine move, and how things will turn out just fine without Motte.
  10. How about we worry about making an effective 1st line, 2nd line, and 3rd line. Sounds good?
  11. Because the fanbase is losing their minds. I agree, this trade was a good move.
  12. If the price to keep Motte was gonna be expensive (and it likely was), they did the responsible thing of moving him out. For every Motte, you can also find Lammikos, Highmores, etc. willing to do the dirty work. Remember Ronalds Kenins and how gritty he was? Are we missing him in 2022? Bet you haven't thought about that name in years. It'll be the same thing with Motte. Again, good player, but not worth crying over.
  13. I'm crying of laughter lmfaoooo This Canucks team is so capped out that they can't even afford to put fuel in the team bus, and you guys wanted Motte to stay for over 2M. This fanbase never learns ahahhaha
  14. This is legitimately hilarious. Bunch of boomers losing their $&!# over some guy that could be replaced in an instant.
  15. Because I'm not starstruck over 4th liners. I like the player, but the cost to keep him would not have been feasible. How many Beagles, Roussel, Ferlands, etc., do we need to go through before realizing you don't overpay to keep these guys around?
  16. If he was going to cost over 2M per annum, which is what he would, it's way better to have moved him than to keep him around. Hope that helps.
  17. Colour me shocked Allvin's first move is to bring back the C that should have never left in the first place. Makes you wonder...
  18. Sensible. Of course, the chance to capitalize on moving Tanner was last season, but if we can get an asset out of this and clear out money, that's helpful.
  19. https://eprinkside.com/2021/02/07/travis-dermott-deserves-a-chance-to-shine-in-a-top-four-role He'll get that chance here.
