  1. No mystery here. I've been critical of you, but I am impressed with your attitude to stick with this game. Maybe you're being a good mafia teammate, but if you're town and you're sticking with this game, despite not wanting to play, all props to you.
  2. Wow, naslund.is.king playing a top game thus far. No cap. I am impressed.
  3. Idk, just believe me. It would be pretty lame if I lied about that at this point in the game. Probably not. But, again, just believe me.
  4. The members of the mafia can come out and say that I am not in their PM. Or they could lie and say that I am. Yes/No.
  5. An internal deadline will be set to negotiate terms. I'd be shocked if he didn't sign OR wasn't traded by the TDL next year.
  6. Hamonic and Motte gone and the Canucks win against the league's best team, I'm hearing? Makes you wonder...
  7. Neither team has managed to shoot the puck past either goalie yet.
  8. Some very odd behaviour in this thread... Anyways, cool trade. Future considerations will help solve the goaltending issues in Toronto.
  9. If only there was a voice of reason who tried to tell you that things were fine..
  10. I'm sorry but that's incorrect. The games in hand for Edmonton, Dallas, and Winnipeg would have meant that we were not in control of our playoff spot. Besides, if our seasons hinged on beating Buffalo and Detroit (it didn't because things were finished a long time ago), were we really deserving of a playoff spot?
  11. The season has been finished since November/December. What exactly would be the need to improve down the stretch? To watch meaningless hockey in a more exciting or proud way?
  12. McCann, Forsling, etc. Not to mention, their draft records are near identical and win percentages also quite similar. They're closer in legacy than you think, although, lumping Chiarelli in with them is totally fine.
  13. Indeed. I can't say as to whether or not Gillis would have been the correct man to execute and lead a rebuild since his drafting (as we would learn in hindsight) was dross, but he had the right idea and correct philosophy. He understood where the game was at and where it was headed, and knew that his team had shortcomings in that regard.
  14. I reiterate: This deadline was meh. Nothing special, nothing amazing, but the fact remains, the Canucks came out with a younger defenceman, a trim to the wages, and recouped a pick. This regime shouldn't be celebrated for their work at this TDL, but in no way should they be criticized since they quite literally just did the bare minimum in terms of responsibility and stewardship of this team. Judge them at the draft and in the off-season. If they fail to clear more money, or find a way to lose picks, or make boneheaded moves akin to the last regime, by all means, roast them.
  15. No matter what the opinion is on Gillis and how his regime did, the fact remains that Benning made things exponentially worse. The Canucks in 2014 were better off and in way less of a mess than the Canucks are in 2021/2022. In fact, the mess is so bad, Benning will undoubtedly replace Milbury in the history books as the poster boy for the worst GM in modern NHL history.
  16. Life after Motte.

Yeah, if Motte pulled a Hamhuis and just left, I'm sure the reaction would be different.

      Life goes on.

LOL at those lamenting the loss of a third/fourth liner whom team and player couldn't agree on a contract within Canucks' budgetary/cap constraints created by Benning.

I'm a fan of Tyler Motte, but he like nearly every player in the universe is replaceable. In fact the third/fourth line winger may be the easiest player to replace on an NHL roster.

Time is now for Highmore to take Motte's spot and for Lockwood to take Highmore's spot.  Executing a succession plan.  Happens every single day.

  17. The only thing Hamonic was good at was finding reasons to not be in the lineup. Dermott quite literally just needs to show up to be an upgrade on Hamonic. As for Motte, I promise everybody will forget about him when the next new shiny 4th liner gets brought in. If our competitive hopes lied in a bottom-six player, well, we were pretty $&!#e to begin with then, wouldn't you say?
  18. As I've always said, we are now seeing the true damage that Benning and Weisbrod caused. His most ardent supports are drowning this forum with their tears, upset at the fact that this mess couldn't be fixed in half a season. And here's the thing: It's not going to be fixed any time soon. It will be YEARS before this team sees the daylight. Was this a good deadline? Hell no. But the fact remains the team came out of this with less money on their books going into next year, a younger player, and an asset for a player they weren't bringing back. Small wins, small wins. Way better than if Benning and Weisbrod were still here. Knowing those two, they'd be salivating at the sight of being 4 points out. They probably would have tried to bring in Rackell, Copp, etc. and hoping that they could sneak into 8th place and go on a miracle run. Imagine how disastrous that would have been. Look, this is the state the Canucks are in: No money, no future, but for now, the guys in charge are chipping away and making small improvements. May as well support them until they give us factual and tangible reasons to distrust them.
