  1. Looks like nfl.com has Seattle #1 in the week 17 power rankings but hey what do they know? Probably just a bunch of Hawks fans and homers. But who wants to talk about that amirite? On a side note Tom Brady just farted. I bet it smells like rainbows and unicorns.

  2. Thought you would've picked up on the sarcasm. And I know right, too bad Brady was covering Tyree on that miraculous glue to the helmet catch. Oh well, undefeated regular season in today's NFL is still an incredible feat.

The Jets were playing for their coach, if the reports in the Bay area are accurate, the 49ers players probably didn't care whether they won for Harbaugh or not. And besides maybe a handful of players [boldin, Davis, Gore, and a couple LBs] the 49ers don't seem like a team made up of proud guys who would've been extra motivated to win. [Didn't 1 of their players go rape/sexually assault a girl after their loss to SD?]

I'm not negating the fact the Seahawks are a great team. Just thought calling them the best team in the NFL was a bit farfetched. But again, it's Seahawks fans who called them that, and that's their opinion, and my opinion was that they haven't been as impressive as other teams [Like the Packers, not the Patriots].

I've already predicted a NE/DEN GB/SEA final 4. Don't think I'd have them in the NFCCG if I thought the Seahawks were a terrible team.

The majority of NFL pundits had Seattle ahead of Green Bay last week so not just Hawks fans. Many had the Patriots as number 1 too so it's okay to give football jesus and co. a little love if you want.

  3. I never said the Pats are the best team in the NFL nor did my original post imply that. If I had to pick a best team in the NFL currently, I'd have to give it to the Packers even with their blunder in Buffalo, who also shut down Peyton Manning.

As for the Jets game everyone keeps referencing. It was Rex's last home game as a Jets coach versus his biggest rival. His players wanted that W for him so bad. They were playing on an emotional high. Kind of how Seattle was playing on an emotional high in week 1 after they raised their first ever Super Bowl Banner and blew out Green Bay.

If we're judging teams based on how much they beat each other by, Seattle lost to San Diego and and only beat Denver by 6 while the Pats smoked both those teams. So hah, argument settled. :bigblush:

Well, if we are using that logic. You don't think the 9ers wanted to beat Seattle in Santa Clara given what happened in the conference final last season? Or beat them in Seattle given the post game turkey feast on the 9ers logo after their last game? How about the fact the game in Arizona was for the division lead? For that matter all teams were going after seattle being the reigning champs and all that as well.

As for your second point, how much did the Pats lose to KC by?

  4. What happens if Lions beat Packers, Cowboys beat Redskins, and Seattle beats St Louis ?

    All 3 will be 12-4

Seahawks and Lions never played each other but both will have beaten the Packers (Lions beating them twice)

Cowboys beat the Seahawks and never played the Lions

Barring a tie between Green Bay and Detroit next week, if the Seahawks win there will be a three way tie so head to head is thrown out as the teams involved haven't all played each other and thus no sweep. Seahawks win the divisional record tiebreaker against everyone but would tie with Detroit thus they use their record against common opponents, Seahawks win.....again
  5. Yes Saturday for sure would be hard because that is for College but I think Friday night could be arranged maybe just one game on that night like Thursday night football and keep the rest on Sunday with one again on Monday night.

For high school football it's more of a respect thing. Historically Friday night is high school footballs night. They see it as a developmental league for both players and fans and they encourage everyone to get involved. They don't want to take anything away from that and I truly respect them for that even though the selfish fan in me just wants more opportunity to watch nfl.

  6. Hard to see Sunday top today.

Some of the best games of the year today to date. Impressive.

If they can do Saturday. Would love if they changed Thursday Night football to Friday Night instead.

I would love nfl on Friday and Saturday. I think you might have mentioned this before but the nfl has an agreement, don't know if it is in writing, that they will not have Friday games so people can watch high school football and no Saturday games because of college football.

  7. If Packers, Cowboys and Seahawks all end in a tie who gets number one seed?

I'm pretty sure it's the Seahawks. If it's just Seahawks Cowboys then the Cowboys take it because of the head to head victory. In a 3 way tie head to head is thrown out and the next tie breaker is based on their record against similar opponents iirc.

  8. Honestly it makes me shake my head that rather than put more discretion in replay, these leagues like the NFL and NHL put more discretion in the hands of officials. Every team has plenty of fans who think the refs are out to get their team (they confuse overall mediocrity with conspiracy), but I think it would help if the league would stop upping the refs' ability to do so. I'm resigned in the NFL's case that it's going to be bogged down 4-hour game commercial Supreme Court politics league.

I think the penalty kick in soccer is the worst of all. Literally decides games based on the refs discretion. There is too much riding on calls in all of these games to be left to human eyes in the heat of the moment at full speed.

  9. On the call, I agree it wasn't the best call. But I can see at least some justification. He looked where he was going, but he tucked his head down for the hit. More like a forehead butt hit than a crown hit though.

If you look close it looks like he got his left hand around and made contact before the helmet even got there so I don't think it was a penalty but I have seem similar calls made this season. I think in stuations like this replays of at least challenges are in order.

  10. You can't have a penalty named helmet to helmet hit but have the criteria include shoulders and necks.

They could've called hit to a defenseless receiver, it would've made more sense, but Al Michaels even noted that Green saw Browner at the last second and prepared for the hit.

Either way, it was a reputation call like you see on Burrows in the NHL.

That's what I mean. Even though it wasn't helmet to helmet it could still be a hit to head of a defenseless receiver and the result would have been the same. Refs often anounce the wrong calls and player numbers etc. due to miscommunication between refs but it doesn't mean there wasn't a penalty. Not saying that was the case here as a didn't see the replay but that still shot sure looks like shoulder to chin. That being said, had the receiver not bobbled the ball for 20 feet this never would have happened anyway. Browner got unlucky on that one.

Wow, surprised the refs let that Akeem Ayers interception stand, surprised they didn't make up a helmet to helmet penalty again.

Although they may have got the call on the field wrong, isn't a shoulder to head or neck area of a receiver the same penalty? I didn't have time to see the replay so I'm not sure if that's where he got him.

  12. The PI changed the entire game. Could of gone either way without that bs.

The Eagles had 153 total yards on offense. If not for Ryan fumbling the ball on the punt it would have been even worse.

  13. Kaepernick is far too off than on.

And Seattle has gotten away with quite a number of non-calls, namely a block in the back on that big TD run, a number of defensive holds not called.. Pete Carroll thinks it's a conspiracy when it's the fact that his team's overaggressiveness is what should be getting them more calls. He should be thankful he gets so many non-calls too.

It's not just the penalty yards on the Seahawks they are talking about. It's about the fact that 8 of the 10 opponents they have played before this week were below their season average in penalties. 6 of those 8 were well below their average.

Just last week the NFL said there were 2 missed interference calls in the KC game including the non call on Baldwin in the endzone. Last week against Arizona the refs seemed incapable of calling false starts against the Cards including a running back taking 2 steps before the snap seen by entire Seahawks defence.

What's funny, I am watching the post game interview with Pete as I type this and he commented on this again. He clarified on his earlier comment by saying he just wished they would call the same things against the other teams.

That being said I think a lot of stuff was let go by the refs for both teams this game but a lot of the Seahawks calls just happened to be in big plays. Marshaun taunting, wtf? Two touchdowns called back as well.

  14. Beckham Jr. wtf? They showed him making crazy one handed catches in warmup, now he does it in primetime, for a touchdown, while being held. Holy crap

Edit: the least I could do is spell his name right

  15. Sanchez and Stanton will fill in just fine. SF has Aldon, Bowman and Willis coming back. That defense suddenly becomes that much scarier. Sea will be lucky to go 2-2 against Ari and Sf.

Seahawks are getting healthier too although losing Mebane on Sunday sucks. You want to talk about luck you may want to take a look at Arizona's schedule.

  16. Nope because Denver had a full healthy squad. A 50% Gronk is waaaaaay different from a 100% healthy Gronk. I guess you know how it feels to be that poor boy in Africa who cannot use grammar or understand English for that matter feels.

Are you a poor African boy?

    With internet nonetheless.
