  1. "Our mission remains the same: to win the Stanley Cup. Last summer we said we had to make some changes to our team. We need to get younger, faster and stronger to succeed. That process is happening now, as we look to retool by surrounding our veteran stars with new, young talent. You can look at Anaheim as a recent example of a team that has retooled successfully." I'd say that's Gillis talking, I'm not going to defend that signature, though. I'm still confused by it.
  2. I've been a supporter up until now. Didn't agree with everything he did in the past, but still believed he could pull something off that would put our team back on track. This trade deadline was the last chance I gave him and he done basically nothing to help our team. The Luongo trade was horribly timed, now we are using Lack as our starter who is great, but I think I don't need to explain why that is risky. His beard alone symbolizes how our team is doing.
  3. Man, I'm really going to miss Luongo. Great goalie, person, and poker player.
  4. This is one of those times where I am embarrassed to be a fan. This is a Heritage classic game and Lu deserves to start it. You know, that guy that who is at the top of most Canuck goalie records? The "increases our chances" is a such poor excuse. That's a very minimal percentage that your increasing by sitting out Luongo in a game he may never play in again. Our goal-tending is not why we are losing. It's the lack of offense and ability to score when it matters (AKA the third period). This is a coaching problem in my opinion and to see Torts say there's a goal-tending issue bothers me. Also the "We want Lu" chant. Doesn't matter what you (the chanters) say, it was disrespectful given the timing of it. Before the game started, maybe it would be okay, but it started after 2-3 goals were let in, and that's not very supportive. You can say whatever you want, like how you still think Lack is great and didn't mean anything by it, but that doesn't really help. Put yourself in Lacks' shoes and it's still a disappointing feeling regardless.
  5. Snowing in Coquitlam, but only sticking to grass so far. Instantly melting on the roads and sidewalks.
  6. Seems like they were too shaken up from Team Canada to care about the Bronze.
  7. Gonna be interesting to see how Edler plays on the opposing team. I have a feeling if we win, it will be because of an Edler turnover.
  8. Perfect game by Canada. Played most of the game in USA's end and shutdown a team that was had a strong offensive up until today.
  9. Canucks don't usually give up when they play the Leafs. Have a good feeling about this game.
  10. I don't think benching the twins is good for team morale right now.
  11. Dang, I liked Weise. He didn't always bring his A-game, in fact he rarely brought it, but when he did, he was quite effective
  12. People wonder why the Canucks aren't doing so hot. This is why. Either our team is injured, about to be, or has been.
  13. Once the Canucks made it 2-0, I knew they were going to lose.
  14. Dang, didn't realize Lain is an inch taller than Sestito. Now we have 2 giants on our team.
  15. Yeah, but Thornton snuck up behind Orpik, slew footed him, and gave him a few good whacks before Orpik even knew what was happening. Sestito on the other hand made sure his opponents knew he was there, and what his intentions were.
  16. There are a lot of GM's that are waaay worse than Gillis. Firing him now won't change anything since a lot of our players have a NTC and still have a few years left in each of their contracts and it would be tough to trade some of them. Has he made some bad decisions? Yes, but he has also made some great ones too. Just like Baggins said above, Canucks were really close to the cap limit, and were short on players so they were basically forced to sign cheap players like Stanton, Richardson and Santorelli and I'd say he did a good job on those signings.
  17. Injuries are killing us and The Canucks seem to be lacking a certain emotion that they had in December. It's almost like they forgotton how to play well and aren't motivated enough to get it back. And the last few games REALLY haven't helped them mentally.
  18. And If I was Vancouver, I wouldn't do this in a million years. Your just dumping loads of talent for a guy who hasn't had much effect on his team since being drafted.
  19. I'm just throwing this out there, I remember when the Canucks won game 2 of the SCF, CBC showed Mike Gillis' reaction right after they won and he had a frown on his face, did not celebrate and just did a little handshake and walked away. Thought it was a little odd considering he celebrated every win before that.
  20. What was he thinking? "I'm on a team that this city absolutely dispises, and am also one of the dirtiest players in the league. Maybe I should go to a bar at 2am in DT Vancouver." And usually when someone says they want to "blow off steam" (especially after a 6-2 loss) it means they want to get into some sort of altercation.
  21. Que every Bruins saying how their team was injured and was sick. Not a good enough excuse when you lose 6-2
  22. No way... You really want to give up 3-4 first round picks + one of our most solid defenseman for him? That's way too much talent your giving up for one guy who may not even fit on our team . I also have this feeling that him and Torts won't get along.
