  1. The way Seattle are playing is how a team desperate for a result should play! I hope the 'Caps a watching this game and taking notes.
  2. This says it all right here, PuckDrop. You hit the nail on the head. In the second half, when the 'Caps actually had some possession in the Timber's half, they would walk back when they lost possession. Robson... Miller... Camillo... pathetic! Also, since the Mid-season purge of Chumiento, Hasseli and Le Toux, the 'Caps seem to be second to every ball, on the ground and in the air. I can't think of an instance tonight where the 'Caps won an attacking header or beat a Timber's player to a 50-50 ball. Once again, pathetic. A completely pathetic, lackluster effort in the franchise's biggest game since their return to top flight North American footy. Sad thing is, I still love 'em! Just like I will never stop cheering for the Canucks after 41 years of futility, i will always support the 'Caps despite their troubles. Go, 'Caps, go! And go, Sounders. 1-1 at the half.
  3. Astute observations, Scottish. My thoughts exactly. The 'Caps play like English / Scottish football of the 70's... Hammer the diagonal long ball and hope to get in behind. The gaps between 'Caps players is always huge, too. No support on the ball. Players are always left isolated and when the defensive shape shifts to the ball, there are no options available to the attacker. Dane Richards is a very speedy wide player, but, his head hasn't been in it since he agreed to play with Burnley a couple of months ago. What a shame. Miller has been a giant turd of a signing. Absolutely useless. Robson has been good all year, but not great. It says a lot about your club when its MVP is a 35 year old Right Back!
  4. It's artificial, Scottish. Long blades of plastic grass kept level by rubber pellets. The non-greenness comes from the paint from the Lions football lines which are removed and re-painted before and after every Lions game. It kind of looks like a terrible pitch in Central America or the Carribean. As for the scrappiness, yes, they are always this scrappy. The technical abilities of MLS players are nowhere near other "major" leagues. Also, playing on artificial turf cause the ball to bounce much more than on real grass. 7 minutes to go and Vancouver doesn't look like scoring. Where's the desperation? Dallas Seattle game is on TV tonight after this one. Go Sounders!
  5. Reds dominate once again but blown chances, especially by Suarez, almost cost them again. Should have been 5-0. Could have been 1-1. Sterling looked good scoring the game-winner. Hoops stomped St. Mirren 5-0! Wanyama will probably move at the next window. Man U? Liverpool? This guy is the real deal!
  6. Reilly was awesome in his first start. After that crappy INT at the start, he played really well. Keep on resting the elderly, battered and bruised for the West Final at the Dome!
  7. There's a lot of snow up here every year!
  8. What happened in the Winter of '08, Vintage?
  9. In Dawson Creek, I had 4 inches of snow on Friday / Saturday. It all got washed away on Sunday with lots of rain. Winter is just around the corner!
  10. Has a great sense of humor and appears intelligent on an internet forum.
  11. NHL '13, FIFA '13, The Masters Collector's Edition (Tiger Woods '13).
  12. It's so awesome to see the support that Seattle gives the Sounders. 66 452 for a Cascadia Derby! There's no reason that the 'Caps can't do the same, except that BC Place only holds 59 000, or so. It baffles me that the 'Caps struggle to get 20 000 to home matches. If I didn't live in Dawson Creek, I would have season's tickets, for sure!
  13. Thanks to Chivas' late goal yesterday, the 'Caps only need to win one of their last 2 to clinch a playoff spot. The Cascadia Derby v. Timbers sure looks even bigger now!
  14. O'Brien played well defensively, but, he plays like a 1970's fullback when he has the ball at his feet. Almost every time he started an attack, the ball was heaved 50 yards forward to Seattle. No thought at all. I know he's not in there to score goals, but, he's not in there to turn possession over in 3 seconds, either.
  15. Oh... In that case, 3. Gurpreet holds the lightbulb and the other 2 turn the ladder.
  16. 4. The Jack of Clubs holds the lightbulb and the other three turn the ladder.
  17. Here in the Great White North of Dawson Creek, BC, we use "roody poo" as a verb. Matthias Ohlund was our main focus. Ohlund used to "roody poo" the puck softly off the glass, often turning it over in the process.
  18. Villa - Albion match was a bit of a plodder. 2nd half was OK. Would have been nice to see Albion at the top with Chelsea. I totally agree about Saturdays, Scottish! I watched footy all day, too, except I had to get up at 5am to watch the Gunners - Blues match and my late day match was Whitecaps v. Sounders... pretty entertaining 0-0 tussle.
  19. If you live in Canada and can afford $15 a month, Sportsnet World carries all of the matches live and on delay.
  20. Liverpool puts up a fiver against Norwich! Suarez is certainly an enigma. I wish that the Reds played the Canaries every match. That's 6 for Suarez in the past 2 at Carrow Road. 66-34 possession in favor of Liverpool. They sure have held the ball well this year, they're just not scoring. I'm at the point with Skertl where I'd rather see Coates playing. Skertl is a liability. Lucky his blunder today didn't cost any points. Speaking of liabilities, Reina is looking pretty ordinary this year, as well. I hope he picks up his play. Nice handball by Ba to squeak a point from Reading... 23 year drought at Old Trafford broken by Spurs (Man U certainly don't look to have a Championship side this year, so far.)... Great first match of the day at the Emirates. Looks like Torres is in fine form without Drogba around!... Albion can tie Chelsea at the top against Villa tomorrow... Hoops had a dominating win at Motherwell, too. They deserved more than 2 goals today. Go 'Caps tonight!
  21. I agree that you can't blame the ref for the loss, topbanana. I do, however, think that Shelvey's red was harsh considering that Evans went in just as hard with 2 feet as Jonjo did. A yellow for both or a good "talking to" might have been more in order. A red for one was extreme, IMO. As for United being Champions, obviously, you can never count them and Sir Alex out, but, I'm not sure you'll ever see this squad at full strength this season. And I have to say, the back 4 look poor with the exception of Evra, who may be the best left back in world footy. DeGea is weak, too, but he is young. He's certainly looked no worse than Pepe, so far! I hope Reds rebound during the "soft" part of their schedule. They need to score some goals to get some confidence and no one, not even Suarez, looks capable. I would have liked to have seen young Carroll in the middle of the 4-3-3 that Rogers is employing right now. Obviously, he wasn't a favorite of BR's, though. I can't count how many Red's crosses have gone through the box without a challenge this year. It would also be nice to have 11 men on the pitch more often!
  22. Man U had no business taking 3 points on Sunday, topbananas. They were completely outplayed and outclassed. Man U will not be Champions, or anything close to it, if they continue to play the way they have so far this season. Reds and their "hacks" have every right to moan about this one.
  23. Too bad that Reds couldn't come up with a win today on an emotional day. Fans were absolved of all charges in the Hillsborough tragedy. Again, though, Liverpool found themselves down a man early. I think both Shelvey and Evans should have been booked, not ejected, and play should have continued. Both players were wreckless, neither, in my opinion, deserved a red card. Nice goal by Cap'n Stevie to open, but, a poor decision by Johnson late to set up a gimme penalty for Man Poo was the difference. Reina got a touch, too. Damn. Rafael's goal was a gem. Liverpool dominated and came away with nothing. Again. Sign a striker at the mid-season window, perhaps?
  24. Another "did-just-enough-to-eke-out-a-win" performance tonight. Important players, on both sides of the ball, were important when they needed to be. CDC is hilarious. So many of its members are blind to anything but "bad referees". The biggest excuse for when a Vancouver-based team loses any game. It's always the officiating. Tonight, it wasn't the Lion's inability to move the ball or the kicking game, it was all about the referees. 2011 Cup Finals? The referees. 5 Whitecap's losses in a row? The referees. We need a new excuse. How about we blame Mayson Raymond? Or Lu?
