I just find it ridiculous to put a ceiling on a guy that was just drafted, and hasn't had a real chance to prove himself yet.

And where do they get Hagelin from? Other than going to Michigan I don't really see the similarities. Kind of pulling that one out of nowhere.

Well, realistically there has to be some form of ceiling on the guy...he's not gonna become the next Jagr.

These guys get paid to make analyses, they need to make some form of firm stance/predictions on players. It wouldn't be very effective sports journalism if they just said "well, time will tell" with prospects (even though that's the truth). I'd like to read the prospect profile on Duncan Keith, see where folks thought his ceiling would be.

Why do I keep checking back to this thread?

Maybe the musician in me wants to see something actually worthy of the title 'best bass player'.

Instead, I get another of Cabinessence garbage threads that gets kept alive by people posting videos of old crap.

I like classic rock as much as the next guy, but freaking for really guys?

The Who?!?   Give me a flipping break!

This isn't the 'which classic rock song do you enjoy?'.

it is the 'BEST bass player' thread.

We should change this garbage list for the poll by doing some actual research, using others opinions, etc....

Geddy is prob the only one on that list that deserves to be there.

    Couldn't agree more.

. Regardless, you thought it was Peter Tork before you googled it, right? Bass keeps playing!

Of course I did, I'm not a Monkees officiando...you didn't know he was referencing a bass player in your own list!

I understand that you think the bass is cool & wish you could play, but you should just buy one and practice instead of trolling.

What a lazy comment! Yes, Peter Tork played bass on many songs. But he did not play on Last Train To Clarksville! That part was played by Larry Taylor.  I'll await your retraction. Cue bass solo!

While the Candy Store Prophets did write and record backing tracks for many Monkees songs (Boyce and Hart wrote that song themselves), Carol Kaye was the bassist on that session. There's even an interview with her discussing that songs tempo vs lyrical mood.

Go back to the farm, you're not ready for the big league yet.

Off the popular poll, but fantastic contribution!

It's a bass cover of The Monkees...ya know, that band that Pete Tork played bass for?:picard:

You don't even know the players in your own list! For shame, being a poser is so '90's.

    Wrong Rick Lewis.

Haha, well there might be some dude named Rick Lewis who plays bass, sure, but there's a real famous Rick Lewis who drums and nobody on two pages of Google searches named Rick Lewis of any fame who play bass.

You got a link to any of his music?

This is the list of the people. The question is who is, not who was, so we're dealing with living legends here. So far w're in a 50/50 split for first overall between Lewis and Lee.

The list is still poor, even only considering currently alive bass players.

Victor Wooten, Billy Sheehan, Anthony Jackson, Bobby Vega...I could go on and on.

You are a bass enthusiast perhaps, but you're not ready for the big leagues.

    Re

    posture:

    These have worked for me

    As well

i stand with my back to a wall and do two different exercises(with no weights)

1.)back to wall arms back against wall with arms out elbows bent at right angles.  Simply raise your arms till your hands touch.  Keeping arms and back right to the wall

2.) back to wall arms in same position as above.  The back of your hands should be touching the wall in both exercises.  Lower your forearms until your palms touch the wall but maintain the right angle position at the elbow (right angle meaning a 90 degree bend). Then raise the forearm to upright position so the back of the hand touches the wall.

    repeat say 20 times.

be sure to keep as close to the wall as possible especially the small of your back.

i did these for three weeks straight every day, three sets in combination with shoulder and chest stretches and my chest opened up great.  My posture improved and overall range of motion increased.

as a carpenter I spend hours with repetitive motions that pull my shoulders forward and shorten my chest so to speak.  Not only have these exercise improved my posture but I have lessened my trips to the chiro at least 50% over the last four months and I have improved my swimming speed (front crawl)

Omar has great vids with great info!
