  1. Schroeder was picked when the NHL announced it was going to promote fast skilled hockey, he fit the bill admirably. The league has now moved the goal posts ( yet again ) and his style doesn't fit. It's not MG, the scouts or even Schroeders fault but the league that keeps blowing wind up every ones ...a$$
  2. IMO any team has to be able to match what ever the other team throws over the boards, I believe the Canucks can do that. If the opposition wants to play tough, or speed or skill we have to be able to match it. We have enough toughness to do that
  3. IMO for what it's worth he is to hesitant in his own end which leads to uncertainty. He has to be more of a take charge sort of guy. You gotta love his shot from the point, who wants to get in the way of that shot
  4. Apart from the odd hiccup he seems to be improving. Interesting comment he apparently made. The difference in the system here to Florida is like comparing Kindergarten to University. Put's in perspective what AV is doing when compared to other coaches and teams. The problems seems like they're (other teams ) onto you AV
  5. I'm still not convinced myself. His play in his own end too often result in turn over. He passes to others who are under pressure, his work along the wall is not great. His shot ( when he decides to use it ) is great...assuming it's on net. He's still a job in progress
  6. He's better than he was, but still has some improvements to make IMO. If I'm honest I don't believe his hockey IQ is that great. He plays like a player that's been taught rather than natural ability?
  7. Buffalo and the Islander are not great teams with great depth. I think the standings prove that. It's different being a 1st line player on the Sabres rather than the Bruins/Canucks
  8. I like the idea of a future line Kassian-Gaunce-Jensen that's a lot of beef :-)
  9. Well Hodgson and Grabner are on poor teams with poor rosters and getting more ice time than they would else where, both are minus players while Henrik is a plus 14....it makes a difference
  10. The best part about Gaunce and any prospect is he is still on a steep improvement curve. Many in fact most players plateau at some point. In the case of Gaunce he's still young and still getting better. When he plateaus we'll know where he will play 1st/2nd line etc. Speculation is wasted but watching the improvement is good cause to expect more from Gaunce and that is good. Similar for Jensen and Corrado ( I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the team next September ) In fact with the Cap going down next season many of the youngster on Entry Level Contract by necessity might get a chance
  11. With the drop in salary cap next season Vcr has to blood some of it's young players who are on entry level contracts. Gaunce may be one of them. Jensen, Corrado, Connauton and Lack may be others, Sweatt/Archibald for instance I'm afraid Alberts, Malhotra, Barker, Raymond and maybe Booth take your pick will be either traded or not resigned to make way. It might come down to either Higgins or Raymond both UFA's.
  12. IMHO Kesler should be moved to wing where he had great success with Sundin and really started his journey to greatness. Schroeder shows to much skill and talent to waste, so put him between Kesler and Burrows or if he must play as a third line player keep him with Raymond and Hansen, speed kills
  13. He easily get confused or drawn out of position in his own end plus for a guy that's supposed to have rocket shot I've seen mostly wrist shots. I agree there's still time but his decision making is not top 4 IMO
  14. You could argue with the Canucks doing so much better under the MG regime that it's more difficult to make it on the MG team versus the DN team, which accounts for the discrepancy
