Cap not going up for years. Players owe the owners over a Billion dollars because of Covid. That has to be paid back over the next few years before cap starts going up again. 1m cap increase was allowed at beginning of this year. So that's about all it will go up.

Going to the off-season also allows us to extend him. If the numbers make sense we can sign him to an extension or trade him in summer.. Unless the NYR make us an offer we can't refuse this most likely goes into the off-season. Miller is in his prime right now. He's playing great. But if we sign him to a 7 year big money extension it might come back to bite us in 3 or 4 years. It's a tough decision but moving him might be the best thing for this organization long term.

This is very true. We can end up with a 3rd liner in return for Miller. Very risky move. The package would have to be very substantial including a young budding star player who has played a year or two in the NHL. A sure fire future top line forward or top pair D..

It will be Rutherford's decision to trade him not Alvin's. All roads lead to Rome. JR is the big decision maker. He'll make final call on trading top players. The whole management team will have input. But JR will make the final call.

Honestly my most pleasant surprise this season is Martin. He took over the starting job in Abbotsford and has looked great in the big show. I've never been sold on Dipietro. He doesn't have the size for today's NHL. Players are too good at shooting the puck now days. Need that height and length. Martin is 6'3 calm in net and has been lights out 3 games he's played. We've found Demkos backup. And he won't be expensive.
