  1. 2009 -2010 season Mikael scored more than Kes in fewer games (30 goals in 74 games) had more shots in fewer games and a better shooting percentage.Took less penalties, scored 4 GWG's and added 7 on the second unit PP. During the playoffs he led the entire team in scoring, tallying eight goals to Kesler's one. Leads the team in playoff scoring and tallies 30 reg season goals for $2.5 million. In 2010-11 he gets 50 points. In 155 games as a Canuck MS scored a goal ever three games he played in and was a .68 PPG player. In the playoffs he was that same goal scorer and a .77 PPG contributor. How are the Canucks and Kes doing with Mikael's replacement these last few years? Booth's $13.5 million for these last few years for his 22 goals and one playoff assist smells pretty bad. Mikael was the one that told us about management while the fanboys and gushers were still hyperventilating. Never mind the success he had here or the team's success with him in the lineup,I will always admire him for speaking his truth.
  2. I agree as that is Gillis' legacy. Hung it all on the Sedins without supporting them or protecting them. Mikael did lead the Canucks in playoff scoring a few years ago while scoring 30 goals in the regular season. Santorelli is a small sample size and Higgins has been a borderline second liner during most of the time he has been here. Booth and his contract hurt this club over the last few years. Gillis took a gamble when he should not have.
  3. It will be two years this coming March that Daniel took Keith's hit to his head that changed his career. Some borderline serious head injury victims recover after a couple of years ,so there is upside to his game. Hank should be healthier after a much needed rest. Olympic hockey will help both of these two guys (and Edler) as int'l play is up tempo without the WWF NHL torture routine. The twins have been this team and I see them as being in a better mental position to lead this team come this spring. No NHL second line wingers for Kes are what has hurt this team since Samuelsson left.
  4. CDC needs more guys like you with your hatred of free speech that defines any democratic country. The Canucks are a bubble team that have more goals scored on them than they score. First to 2nd in league scoring.Highest scoring PP to 28th. Despite your vulgar, personal attacks on those critical of your beloved Mikey,it is my guess that Gillis is not being nominated for GM of the year.
  5. That's nice.Proffesor. Now that you are officially ignorant : Jim Nill- 10 year playing career Four Stanley Cups Six President's Trophies 16.5 years in a GM's position. Amateur scout Head Scout Draft Day decision maker for the Red Wings and their affiliate Nill fired the head coach and made BOLD MOVES in one month.Try to grasp facts. Nill was also a Canuck and I followed his career. What has Gillis done again? Get back to wiping baby bottom crap,Professor. You're done and not a moment too soon with the pablum drying.
  6. Give it a rest ,professor of your CDC opinions. Nill did in one month what took GIllis five years. Gillis was handed Art Ross and Hart winners and had a hard time figuring out if he should keep them. Ottawa and Detroit After he retired as an active player he joined the scouting staff of the Ottawa Senators as Amateur scout. He was promoted to professional scout after only 2 years. He joined the Red Wings front office in the summer of 1994 following his 3 year stint with the Ottawa Senators. Jim Nill's duties with Detroit included directing their amateur scouting and selections at the annual NHL Entry Draft. He had also served as the general manager of the Adirondack Red Wings. Nill continued to oversee the development of the Red Wings' prospects that are currently assigned to Detroit's main affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League, as well as those in the Canadian junior and European leagues. In his management role with the Detroit Red Wings he has helped the team to 4 Stanley Cup Championships in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008. Maybe you can start comparing now, Hippy Professor.
  7. Being sensitive over wording is not the issue. You got owned. Gillis saddled his team in mediocrity for over two years - IN THE CORE OF THE WINDOW-with those two moves. Eight and a half million bucks in cap space plus a first plus a first rounder pus a 35 goal scorer. The Canucks are still paying for Ballard-two million next year. Both had serious injuries before coming here. Those were the two major moves that shut the window tight.
  8. Nill-eight months on the Job,Hippy. Gillis-5.5 years. Dallas have two games in hand over Vancouver with three less wins.
  9. Good,I can start calling you out without having to reply.Makes it easier so my thanks for your ignorance. There were only three wins separating the Canucks from the Stars before the Islanders won last night.Dallas still has two games in hand. The Canucks have made the playoffs for five years. The Stars have not.Three wins separate the teams. Nill made a huge trade, the trade of the year that significantly improved his team. Gillis's 'boldest' move in 5.5 years has been trading Hodgson for a third line project,if you don't count throwing $20 m at a player that should have retired. Nill-eight months on the job: Immediately fires the coach and hires Ruff. Drafts Nichushkin-makes the opening night roster and is playing first line minutes. Acquires Sequin ,Peverly and Button. Dallas has not made the playoffs for five years and yet have 47 points after 42 games. The Canucks were a Stanley Cup contender and have made the playoffs the last five years ,have played two more games than the Stars and yet have only three more wins.
  10. No Crosby. No gold. He showed up on the scoreboard at the most important time but you are sick of that.
  11. Sundin taught him everything he knew in those forty games of lack lustre performance. AV couldn't even put him on the PP for 20 games he stunk so bad.
  12. Sundin was a blight and joke that made Gillis look like an amateur.
  13. Each NHL team is allowed 50 players under contract. 29 potential trade partners X 50 players= 1448 potential candidates not named Vanek or Gaborik.
  14. Dallas have three games in hand on Vancouver and three fewer wins than Vancouver. Vancouver is in 7th place in the Conference -soon to be eighth. Dallas is in 10th-soon to be in 9th.Not much difference in loser land. Gillis is not a 'Bold Moves' GM.Nill has already proven he is capable of a significant trade that markedly improved his team.
  15. Thank you. We all watched Luongo hung out to dry for an entire year.
  16. What big trade? You mean a junior player hopeful for a roster player? Waiver wire pick ups are depth players,at best.Santo is a miracle on a real struggling team.First line with the twins, you know? The Canucks have won 23 out of 43 games. Anaheim have 31 wins. The conference is tight.Canucks are looking at 9th place in a heartbeat. It's a process.
  17. Two waiver wire pickups. The Canucks are now in a position to fall into 9th in the West, statistically. Three of 14 teams in the West have scored fewer goals than the Canucks. From Stanley Cup contender to fighting for a playoff position. There are plenty of teams not in this position.
  18. Because the core of the team he inherited was very good- and peaking - with many of them giving Gillis cap room to make additional moves I believe Gillis overachieved very early in his tenure. Since the Finals we have had years to judge his style and performance for ourselves. The Luo and Hodgson fiasco's have hurt his reputation with remarks such as Roberts and Samuelsson's shedding a light on the inside. The Manny thing also smelled bad, given the timing of Kes coming back to play and the cap space needed. All in all he has done a fair job but there are blemishes regarding decisions ,comments and character. I would not want his job and I hope he can pull it together for all.
  19. The fact that I am still here posting is a testament to Deb as having an open mind. I have never been met with resistance from Deb concerning my criticisms over Gillis' style, character or record. It has always been the 'OMG ,Gillis is God' fanboys/girls that provided resistance to criticism.
  20. That was exactly what I thought. Make the boss take a long look at what the coach has been served up.
  21. Average Length of an NHL Player Career A typical career of an NHL player can be summarized with one word. Its short! Over half of all NHL players play less that 100 games during their career and for approximately 5 percent of players, their first NHL game is also their last. If we look at this from a different angle, long careers are extremely rare. Only 4 percent of players (that's 1 out of 25) dress up for more than 1000 games. Over 20 percent of retired players appeared during one season only, and over 40 percent never made the playoffs. On average, NHL players play between 5 to 6 seasons in the league. http://www.quanthock...eerLengthGP.php This is Kassian's fourth NHL campaign.
  22. Google could be your friend if you used it. The median retirement age of all NHL forward players is 27.28 years. The height of NHL forwards retirement is at age 24 (see graph). http://www.quanthockey.com/Distributions/RetireeAgeDistribution.php Zach Kassian is 22 years of age.
