  1. Luckily this management group is being patient and not overpaying in trades and free agency but non-moves are getting mistaken for being happy with status-quo.
  2. I wasn't too sure about Guenther but he's definitely an A prospect. He's lighting up the WHL in his draft and draft +1 years.
  3. I didn't mind the trade but it definitely wasn't one we should've made. Guenther + 2nd round pick + 12 mill in cap space would be more valuable to us right now.
  4. Our top players (EP, QH, TD) look determined to take the next step. Miller will play with his heart on his sleeve as well, just needs to take out the frustration moments. But we lack that second wave of heart and soul players right now. Hopefully someone can step up.
  5. Defs not worth the money, but we don't have the assets to move him and he's more than competent as a #3. So we have to make due with what we have. We are missing a #2 and #4 glaringly.
  6. What's your guess for why it's been like this the past couple of seasons. I miss not having to question effort when we had guys like Burrows, Bieksa and Kesler always shifting momentum for the team every shift of every game.
  7. OEL has been solid in a Canucks jersey. He's definitely competent enough to hold down that second pair. Dermott is also a really good option for the third pair, he's played well. Hughes - OEL - Dermott - Schenn Burroughs That right side NEEDS help, too bad we can't afford to do anything yet.
  8. JR and PA dangled almost every asset we had last year minus EP, QH and TD to see how much value they had. It's pretty clear our players didn't have the value we thought and he already mentioned the price was too high to dump cap or acquire a RD. We can't trade any young or future assets because our cupboards are so bare. Let's not confuse patience with status quo.
  9. Minor correction, but I believe he said he could play in the top four, not that he's a top four quality. Regardless, Poolman is bad lol
  10. Too many plays die with Pearson, it's time to move on. Hoglander deserves that spot in the top 9 more (when healthy).
  11. Agreed. I wasn't expecting Bo not to be signed by now. Interesting thing JR said was that the only risk they were afraid of was losing both JT and BH, but now that they have one, I wonder if they feel less the need to compromise on the price of the other? PA has already stated too that they won't keep any unsigned players past the deadline, including Bo. Makes me wonder if something like Christmas time could be a deadline before management starts looking at trade options with Bo.
  12. Every player has a tool box, aka their ceiling. Some take longer to realize it, and some realize it early. JT had to mature and improve his work ethic much further into his career, which took his development longer. Bo has had the same offensive metrics since his 3rd year in the NHL. Personally, I don't see him magically gaining certain elite abilities such as an elite hockey IQ, elite playmaking or elite 2 way ability. If he does have another step left in his development, then I will welcome it happily. Anything to help us win a cup!
  13. Bo isn't playing 1C on Anaheim (Zegras is better, even Strome has outscored Bo the last 3 years), Montreal (Suzuki is the better playmaker and 2 way forward), Nashville (RyJo and Granlund had a couple down years but they bounced back last season and are better play makers), New Jersey (Hughes is a superstar, scored at a 94 point pace. Hischier is a 2 way beast who outscored Bo's pace), Ottawa (Norris outscored Bo, Stutzle paced the same for his 19 year old season and is about to break into stardom) and Vegas (Eichel is elite). Although they're young players, good chance Buffalo play Tage as 1C (outscored Bo) and Seattle may play want Beniers who's translated well and likely has a more playmaking/play driving skillset. He may be a 1C on teams that are weak at C, but he's not a 1C on good teams. He just doesn't possess the dynamic and elite playmaking and playdriving skills needed to be successful in that position.
  14. Comparing a down year for Petey who played injured the first half of the year? He's been almost a PPG player his whole career when healthy. Petey is one of the best defensive centers in the league, so I don't understand where the deficiency part is coming from. He also has elite hockey sense, elite passing ability and an elite shot. I've never said Bo isn't a really good player, just not overhyping him more than what he has shown thus far. He's amazing at faceoffs and a good finisher, but in a 40 second shift, the other 39 seconds are more crucial to analyzing a player. He's a solid 2C. A 3C on most contenders (because a lot of contenders have two 1Cs).
  15. Like I said, JT has always had a higher tool box, he just took longer to figure it out. Bo is good at many things, but he hasn't shown elite potential in any aspect of his game. He was known for his defensive play in junior, but that hasn't translated in the NHL. Horvat scored at a 58 point pace in the bubble, on par with his career and what should be expected out of a good 2C.
  16. JT took longer to mature and reach his ceiling, he always had a higher tool box. Horvat's reached his ceiling, his offensive metrics haven't changed much since year 3. He's more of a jack of all trades, master of none type player. Already been posted and discussed many times so I won't go into it. He's a 2C, not a 1C. He's had good teammates the past couple seasons, so that myth has been debunked. He was poor defensively until last season, where he was average. This is supported by analytics. JT Miller, Tyler Motte, Jason Dickinson, Justin Bailey and Juho Lammikko had more average SH TOI last season, so no, he wasn't our top PK minutes forward. He did feast on the PP, especially down the stretch, which helped his slow start to the season and brought him closer to his usual season production of about a 60 point pace. EP and JT are elite top C's in the NHL, miles ahead of BH, it's really not an argument.
  17. Another tough question we have to ask is, with Petey extension next year and Miller signed long-term, our 1C and 2C is set for the next half decade. Is it worth spending that much on a 3C?
  18. Glad to hear this. Most of Horvat's close comparables have signed in the 5 million range. (RNH, Strome, Trochek) Expecting this to end up in the mid 6 million range, which is okay with the cap increase in 2 years.
  19. How does one year turn a A level prospect to a project? Lol I'm not saying he's a guaranteed top pair guy but that's such a hyperbole. He still has a high ceiling.
  20. Let's not forget Lundkivst had one of the best U20 and U21 seasons in the SHL at 19 and 20 years old. That's huge value towards his development as a prospect. He had a tough transition year, but we don't know a lot about his deployment in the AHL (his NHL deployment wasn't great, understandably with how strong NYR is on the right side). Dallas is banking on his upside, a risk they can take in their position. He may have gotten more value than expected, but it's not like he's not an A level prospect. NYR had a high price and they got great value for him.
