What I expect: This is a very volatile situation. Lots of young talent. No assets to help that talent. Bad cap situation. Unhappy players. Things could go really good or really bad and fast. So it's hard to predict things right now. So if I have to predict. I expect the Canucks to go from terrible to average. To keep their 1st round pick. And for Aquaman to keep meddling and preventing actual hockey minds from building a winner. What I hope for: - a president of hockey operations -a GM with a backbone that won't be a yes man to Aquaman -for Boudreau to get Petey & BB going -for this team to be fun again

As someone that's had zero faith in Benning since the Vrbata signing... I feel like I can enjoy a game for the first time in a looong time. Hopefully I get to throw my hat on the ice tonight instead of a jersey.

Context. It didn't matter how well Vrbata played. It was a bad signing and a sign of what was go come because Canucks should have been rebuilding, not going for it. I knew after this first move that the Benning regime would mess up the rebuild. I could never imagine how bad it would go. As in, a rebuild never happened. Just high draft picks due to sucking. Same. Tanev deserved better. He gave up his body for this team. And the team needs that type of player more than anything now. When he was drafted he was labeled as a fast physical guy with hard shot, but that plays a simple north/south game with low hockey IQ. This proved to be very accurate. You don't draft low hockey IQ guys in the top 10. I don't follow Minor hockey so I never know who's a good pick but right away I though this was a bad pick.

I think the Canucks need a ballsy approach. They stink and don't have assets to give up to get better. So it'll take some high risk high reward wins to turn this team into a contender. Yeah if I don't see a team president, then we know it's still Aqua running things.

Time for someone to come in and try to clean up this mess. Hopefully whoever is hired has a backbone and won't just be another 'yes man' for Aquaman. For the first time since Benning signed Vrbata & Miller... I have hope.

So you're saying they hire a coach then will hire a GM after? GMs want their own coach. So is Aqua going to be paying Green... Bureau and a new coach that a new GM hires? Don't think so. So yeah, Benning still has a job. Hiring Boudreau is putting lipstick on a pig. 8 years of absolute bottom of the league trash GMing doesn't make me super excited about a coaching change. Even if there is short term success with a coaching change, it's still the same idiot at the helm giving away 1st round picks to scrape together a mediocre lineup. I don't give a rats ass about Boudreau. I got tickets to the next 2 games and chanting fire Benning.
