  1. Give it to Kuzmenko. At least the post game interviews would be entertaining rather than the vanilla pat answers. That said I'd be fine with all A's for the balance of the season. At this point my choice would be Miller. At least he has some fire and doesn't candy coat bad games in post game.
  2. Oh I think it's unlikely, but unlikely doesn't mean impossible. If they fall out of a playoff spot he could get moved at the deadline. Personally I think it would make them look rather stupid, but it is a possibility.
  3. Yes. If the pick is in the top 12 we wait. Actual draft position isn't determined until after the lottery. Best we can do on that pick is 13th.
  4. I'll say yes he makes it past. With another year on his contract he's not the type of player a contender trades for at the deadline.
  5. It wasn't any more of contract year for Miller than it was for Bo last year. Both had one year remaining on their deals. They could have waited on Miller until midway through this season. But the same could be said of Bo who is "playing out of his socks" in his actual contract year. Personally I still think Miller is the better overall player and will likely remain better well into his 30's.
  6. My first thought was - when, and how, did we surpass the Coyotes?
  7. That was my first thought. There's a hit weekly sitcom in it.
  8. Motte was a pending UFA they couldn't come to a new deal with. After moving Motte they added Dermott. The only real reason to move players under contract beyond the end of the season was if the offer was just too good to pass up.
  9. Yes, the two mentioned are developed. Kind of my point. My question was how many years of "their career" would you like to waste waiting on hopes and dreams draft picks to be NHL ready ready and effective? That's why Rutherford said he was looking to trade for young NHL players rather than draft picks.
  10. Development time. How many years of Petey and Hughes do you want to waste waiting on hopes and dreams? We're not in as abd of shape as when Benning took over because there's a better age range of players worth keeping. But still, other than top 3 -5 picks, drafted players can take years to be NHL ready and further years to actually be good. I could care less if our players are drafted, traded for, or signed as free agents. I just want to see good hockey.
  11. The big frustration with the Messier period was the talent on the team. You looked at the roster and wondered - how could this team possibly miss the playoffs? It didn't help that I didn't like Messier or Keenan at all before they were even brought in. You look at all the miserable seasons they had since joining the NHL and that's the only period I didn't care at all if I missed a televised game.
  12. Yes. With Pearson is done for the season, he can be replaced he can be replaced even if it means exceeding the cap limit.
  13. It can be back dated but the only real effect that has is with his elligible return date. The days and games missed while on IR would count towards his return date from LTIR. Players on LTIR still count towards the cap. The only difference is you can exceed the cap by his salary. Back dating the start date of LTI doesn't create additional cap space.
  14. Trading a player doesn't automatically equate to "giving up" on them. You have to move something to get something. I don't see him as a key player to the future and believe we have better forward prospects in the system. Hoglander is on the verge of being waiver elligible. If he can't make the team it's better to move him than lose him to waivers. Btw, Grabner wasn't "given up" on "too soon". He was waiver elligible, meaning time had run out, and he had a history of showing up to camp and failing fitness tests. Which he did yet again at camp in Florida leading to the same result he would have had here - lost to waivers after failing to make the team. And Florida wasn't a contender as we were and had a forward spot up for grabs. He squandered two golden opportunities to make the team here before Raymond had a 40+ point season securing his roster spot an yet another golden opportunity in Florida. I don't care what he became afterwards as it wasn't happening here. The team was a contender with our entire top six coming off a career year when Grabner was moved. Better to trade Grabner than lose him for nothing to waivers. He ran out of time.
  15. LTIR doesn't actually save you cap space. Pearson's cap hit still counts towards the team cap. The cap relief is you can exceed the cap limit by his salary. Trading for him adds 3.25m to your team cap total and adds 3.25 to the cap limit. You gain nothing.
