  1. Paul Martin already has a replacement, it's Joakim Ryan, a 7th round dman success story, but Tanev would be an upgrade on either Dillon/Demelo. Was there a prospect from SJ that piques your interest.
  2. He needs a few finishing moves for when he cuts hard to the net... and another forward needs to go hard when he does this as they can clean up the possible rebound for a garbage goal.... he was doing good for shots, increasing his shot total to 245, (up from 174 from his rookie season), this past season and his shooting % was 7.5%, where did he start out too, on the 4th and was around there until towards the end of the season. He also seemed more comfortable with his physical play than he did before which is nothing but great news for Canucks fans, as he had 156 hits, and most of his hits were well timed and not headhunting hits. It's not the number of hits but the types of hits that can change games, take away the oppositions confidence when Virtanen comes on the ice. If Coach Green starts him on the 3rd line we might see increased production and shot totals, always a good thing. Wasn't he playing pretty good with Gagner for awhile too, Gagner took the zone entries and drop passed to his wingers and they had time and space to get a shot off, (saw both Virtanen and Boeser as recipients)...
  3. Representing at the WJCs in his new backyard!! The kid plays good under pressure too with his .934 save percentage during the playoffs
  4. His brother Emil, a Nashville prospect, was very slight when drafted, but is now up to 185 lbs... 1st year in the AHL and had some pretty good numbers at 13g and 33a, so it is safe to say Elias should hit that weight mark at some point in the near future.... they may actually make their rookie debut in the same year too
  5. Was this on tv? I saw the Team Canada game but not this one, I checked all TSN channels too
  6. I just read that article and came away very impressed, after the season we just had and the drop in point production for Stecher it was hard to find positives.... I couldn't watch as many games as I wanted to this year due to my 2 kiddos going to bed around the same time as puck drop and sleeping not too long after lol so articles like this are a must on things I have missed from this past season... nice to see his hard work and contributions on the defensive side of his play, ecspecially on the PK so although Stechers numbers have taken a step back from his 1st year, how many years does it take for a dman or forward to hit their stride, (usually the 3 year mark isn't it?), and with some possible new offensive additions, his assist totals might jump past his 1st year production
  7. Playing with Ekman-Larson, Klingberg, Zibanejad is much different than the unit he is currently on...
  8. If he moves up to the 1st unit watch out Worlds!!!
  9. Exactly! One more year in juniors and he will be ready to take over for Demko in the AHL!!
  10. This!!!!!!!!!!! This is what threw me off hahahaha
  11. The rat is only 5ft9 lol.... lol I never knew, thought he was at least 6ft hah... I'm impressed damn, that's my low point of the day when I am impressed with Marchands numbers and finding out about how tall he is lol
  12. How big was Cliff Ronning? Only 1 inch taller than Palmu. You never know, will be exciting to see him play with Utica and see what he can do and who he plays with. Nice to see this crop of rookies coming into Utica next season.
  13. Nice refreshing outlook thanks
  14. I would definitely not be opposed to Sautner making the roster out of camp next season, if some of the Dmen are moved, which they should be, like Hutton or Tanev... Hutton was in the dog house all season and should be moved... Sautner did not look out of place as a rookie at all, was very impressed with his play
  15. Start Goldobin with Horvat and Boeser? Move him to his off-wing and see how he does with some nifty passes to Boeser and his sweet shot lol
  16. Looking forward to next year with Virtanen throwing hits, he is starting to learn how to throw hits to be effective and not throw hits and be taken out of the play. What Coach needs to do when Jake goes end to end and power moves to the net is for fellow teammates to clean up the garbage rebounds. Also in the off-season, soft lobs with the puck on those power moves that fool the goalie and not aim for the crest ont he goalie.
  17. from watching Olli in the past, he does do a good job of jumping into the play to draw opposing players to him and either passing off to an open man or firing off a wrister for a tip-in or rebound shot, all this while not getting caught out of position defensively... sounds good to me. also good with his gap control in the neutral zone and chasing down pucks in his end and moving them up ice.
  18. ............ not a 4 year cap hit, it's 3 but who is counting when we don't want to do favours haha and last time I checked Jokiharju was taken 29th overall which puts him in, wait for it, the 1st round
  19. Hossa has 3 more years left on his contract.
  20. Someone asked Canucks Army on if we should take on Marion Hossas contract to weaponize cap space and he had a pretty good response to it..... a pipe dream for sure but damn would that be sick The Canucks absolutely should have interest in taking on the final four years of Marian Hossa’s contract. I have a difficult time figuring out what the Canucks should get for the privilege. A second-round pick seems fair, at first glance. This might be a touch rich, but I’d love to see the Canucks land Portland Winterhawks defenceman Henri Jokiharju. When Juolevi played with Jokiharju at the World Juniors, they seemed to have awesome chemistry. Their skill sets complemented each other so, so well. That’s a pipe dream though.
