  1. Oof too cute there by Rathbone At least he saved a potential goal on our end
  2. Excellent effort! Love hogs, never quits on a play OEL has also looked really good so far
  3. Hinshaw has said in the past that she doesn't make policy decisions. She provides her professional opinion about what should be done, but it's up to the policy makers and elected officials to actually put in restrictions and mandates. Exact quote: "I was not elected by Albertans," she said. "The final decisions are up to elected officials who were chosen by Alberta. This is how democracy works." I doubt her career/credibility will suffer much. The leaked tapes from last year showed how the politicians ignored medical expert advice from Hinshaw and others.
  4. Such a tragedy, three young men gone way too soon. I can't being to imagine how devastated the families must be.
  5. Ikr, too bad Benning can't sign a great starting goalie to a good contract. Oh wait...
  6. Happy with the term and the number. Good signing! October can't come soon enough!!
  7. https://www.citynews1130.com/2021/08/08/advocate-virtanen-sex-assault-civil/ Excerpt: “The criminal legal proceedings has been a horrible place to achieve justice for survivors for hundreds of years … and it has a lot to do with well-worn beliefs about sexualized violence,” she said. “It comes down to this idea that men have a right to women’s bodies, in terms of sexuality. It comes down to the idea that women are gold diggers, that they make up stories of sexualized violence. There’s a whole range of ways in which survivors are victim-blamed when they speak their experience. And these are well-worn tropes, well-established myths and stereotypes.”
  8. Heya, not sure if this helps but my units (over 450 combined staff) are at least 90% vaxxed, there are some individuals who want the vaccine but can't get it because they've had severe allergic or anaphylactic reactions in the past to vaccines, some who are booked to get the shot in the next couple weeks, and some who are anti-vax or have reservations. Every critical care doctor I've talked to has gotten the shot. I think what convinced the hesitant staff to get the vaccines is seeing young and relatively healthy people end up in critical care. In the first, second and third waves my hospital had any where from 60-80% of the province's hospitalized covid cases, we know how bad it can get. And now in this fourth wave, we are only seeing the unvaccinated population ending up in the hospital with covid. I think at the end of the day, you have to decide what would you rather get - a vaccine or covid?
  9. People convinced that Jake really did what he is accused of are JUST AS BAD as people who believe the accuser is just looking for a pay day.
  10. You're right, I've heard anywhere from 70-80% vaccination rate is required to achieve herd immunity. I do wonder though if the new and more contagious variants will alter the threshold proportion. Guess time and science will tell. All I know is the covid numbers are down but hospitals and staff haven't recovered. Working short staffed every day brcause staff are burnt out and not picking up extra shifts, even at triple time, which puts more stress on staff working, and the cycle continues. This was my last off topic post in this thread haha, so ready for an escape. I need a vacation or some hockey.
  11. Not to turn this into a conversation about covid but only 66% of Alberta is double vaccinated at this point. Opening everything up like Alberta has is irresponsible and defies science and reasoned medical advice. We'll see how things play out in Sept/Oct when the season starts.
  12. Thanks for being the voice of reason Sid. I think people are overreacting with this signing. Seeing some of the posts it would seem like we signed him for 6x6 or are over the cap. Im quite excited to see the revamped Canucks, looking forward to October!
  13. The owners would never go for this and I'm sure it's complicated, but it would be nice if salary cap was based on post tax earnings
  14. Awesome deal Loved Hamonics game once he settled in and got his legs back. Him and Hughes did find some chemistry together. Glad to see him back for a couple years. Solid deal.
  15. I think the way Boesers contract is structured, his qualifying offer is 7.5 million. So in case they can't get a deal done by the end of the year, they Canucks will have to offer at least that much. Will be interesting to see how it plays out for us, but that is a great deal for the Avs.
  16. I might be in the minority but I'd prefer to see Hoglander and Garland on a line with Bo, instead of Pearson. Now if Benning could just add a couple of solid RHD, we'll be set! Excited to see what this team can do!!
  17. Watched OELs media call video, he genuinely seems happy and excited for fresh start in Vancouver. I admittedly didn't like the trade at first, but have come around to it over the past couple days. If OEL can recover his game he can be a huge boost to our blue line. His contract also appears to be buyout friendly (?) if things come to that in a few years.
  18. I liked him prior to all his concussion issues Not sure if he would be better than any of our depth players at this point.
