Our team is a failure, unlike most I support our players, I don’t jump on trade this one or that one bandwagons. I have been against our soft coaches since AV, I do not cover any bases, I have one agenda and it’s been the same since AV, give us a tough coach that can build a tough team, I’m probably the most consistent fan you’ll ever meet.

Our team is a failure? Seriously? Lol

A week ago my fire Green bandwagon was sold out but seems a lot have jumped ship but I do have faith, month two is upon us, typically not our best month so I’m hopeful but sadly every time Green is standing on the edge of the abyss the teams does just enough to keep him from falling off.

No cup for us for 2-4 years after Green is gone, the longer it takes to fire Green the longer we go without a cup but if he stays for more than another 2-3 years our current core will be past its prime and then who knows but what the heck, what’s another 50 years?

Another one... These types of “fans” think they have it all bases covered. If the team loses - “I told you so”. If the team wins - well, the team won, everyone is happy. True students of Tony Gallagher school...

Agree on turnovers being worse than I have seen but struggling to exit our zone or limit quality shots has been a recurring theme for years.  Tanev's shot blocking and Great goaltending have covered for poor d zone play.

Perhaps we are watching different games, but most of the trouble with zone exits is due to turnovers, which is technical element of the game, nothing to do with system.

Do you seriously believe that the clowns who get their jollies by crapping all over various members of the Canucks organization would actually put their money where their mouth is and pay up when they lose? Good luck with that.

Hey, I can only offer. Him keeping quiet only proves my point, I guess lol.

A business is a business. I don't think fans are giving Benning much of a pass for being super tight at cap (pandemic) and the expansion draft (both of which no one could have realistically foreseen). This has led Benning to let go of players that he may have wanted to keep, including Toffoli.

I am pretty sure that if Green doesn't bring the team into the playoffs, he's gone. There is no "leeway" issue. Having to fire a coach means you have to compensate them if you change your mind. It's just too convenient to let him walk.

Willing to put your money where your mouth is? Let’s say, $100? I put $100 that Green will stay Canucks coach beyond this year.

2021: if we continue sink down the standings, I am hoping we can get Luke Hughes. If we make the playoffs, I will re-evaluate later.

If we somehow get Luke Hughes, we would need to adjust some nicknames on the team. Quinn would need to be renamed from Huggy Bear to Ted and Luke would be Ted 2

Tbh it could be. I think the main issue going on in the locker room is how everything was handled. Not being in touch with Tanev, stalling talks with Toffoli and Marky, and now again stalling talks with Green, it really isn't a good look. It's one thing when you don't resign players that have been with the org for a long time and have positively impacted the org over the years, but it's another thing when you sort of disrespect them in free agency. That could be something that our star players may be thinking about, but I guess we'll never really know.

So, based on your logic, Peterson would be happy to play for $3 million for the next 4+ years if we gave Markstrom and Tanev $10 mil combined. Do you really think that enters his mind? He's clearly upset with his lack of production combined with the team overall poor play, nothing else.

I blame Demko for costing us on Marky. If Demko didn't play lights out for a 3 game stretch in the playoffs we would have for sure retained Marky. Demko mislead us all by playing so well so well enough to give up on Marky and now Demko retreated back to his former 4.00 GPG self.

I am not sure why fans aren't pointing at this unique occurrence and be a bit salty.

Regardless of Demko play against Vegas, 6x6 for Markstrom is way too high at his age. So, no reason to be salty.

If McDavid finished on his chances he would have damn near beat us just on his own, which he looked frustrated with his team and that’s what he was trying to do

gotta keep that guy to the outside and not let him get the step behind the D , if he bury his chances we could be in trouble

You know what they say, "if grandma had balls she would be a grandpa"

I don't think Rafferty is going to get regular playing time.  The PTO and impending signing of Hamonic all but guarantees that, IMHO.  My expectation is that the coaches see Juolevi as a better option than Rafferty since he's more steady in the defensive zone but can still contribute with the breakout.  The question to me is how the Canucks will manage Rafferty's usage.  Will they send Rafferty to Utica or keep him on the taxi squad?  My guess is one of Chatfield or Rafferty will be demoted but in deciding to demote anyone, quarantine requirements will make it challenging for them to bring in anyone from Utica up quickly.

There are going to be some interesting decisions.  Based on what we're seeing so far, I could see the following:

    Miller-Pettersson-Boeser

    Pearson-Horvat-Hoglander

    Roussel-Sutter/Gaudette-Virtanen

    Motte-Beagle-MacEwen

    Hughes-Hamonic

    Edler-Schmidt

    Juolevi-Myers

    Holtby, Demko

Depending on how management wants to manage the cap and player availability:

Healthy Scratches:  possible none or some mix of players from the Taxi Squad except for Eriksson to the max 23 player roster

Taxi Squad (max. 6):  Eriksson, Baertschi (over Bailey and Lind), Benn, Rafferty or Chatfield, Hawryluk (over Graovac), possibly Gaudette/Sutter, possibly Rathbone depending on whether the team will keep any healthy scratches that are not on the taxi squad

    LTIR:  Ferland

Management could shock by demoting Eriksson but I have a very hard time seeing that happening.  The cap benefit of either having him on the taxi squad or in Utica is the same as far as I understand it.

There was talk of Lockwood being a potential surprise to make the team but I have a hard time seeing him make it based on his development and cap constraints.  It's probably better for a guy like Lockwood to play in Utica instead of just practicing and watching games.  He seems unlikely to get into the line-up outside of some major problems.  Michaelis has looked decent but I also think he would probably be seen as being better served by playing in Utica this year.

You can't go into a season like this with only 8 defenders in the main + taxi squads. I fully expect 7 d on the main roster + 2 more on the taxi squad.

I’m not talking about Journalists or Bloggers, I’m talking about hockey Experts.  You know, people that have been in the business, players, other coaches, scouts  I’m not talking about people like you or me.

I made a UNIVERSAL FACT about politics in hockey and you Just Can’t Let It Go.

Do you think Podkolzin would be the 13th forward on his SKA team if he signed with them for 6 years?  You think maybe he’d be treated differently?  It’s called    P   O   L   I   T   I   C S.

Anyway my time is precious and I’ve spent way too much time on you.

I'm with Millsy in this argument. As far as a given team is concerned, the only opinions that matter are the ones of the coaches and the GM. Opinions of the "experts" is irrelevant. More often than not, people currently employed by NHL teams have better understanding of players and internal chemistry than people who are outside, regardless of their previous experience in the league.

    23 Man Roster:

    Miller - Pettersson - Boeser

    Pearson - Horvat - Hoglander

    Roussel - Gaudette - Virtanen

    Motte - Sutter - MacEwen

    Beagle, Hawryluk

    Edler - Schmidt

    Hughes - Hamonic

    Juolevi - Myers

    Benn

    Holtby

    Demko

    Taxi Squad:

    Baertschi

    Michaelis

    DiPietro

    Chatfield

    Eriksson

    Bailey

Wouldn't be against Lockwood or Rathbone being on the taxi squad - as they don't seem too far away, but its probably best for them to be playing.

Only one defender on taxi squad with only 7 defenders on the main roster? Don’t think so, at least one more on the taxi squad (either Rafferty or Rathbone) instead on either Ericsson or Michaelis.
