  1. Whoops. I meant the Sabres....lol
  2. More Buffalo Bills news. Terry Pegula, owner of the Buffalo Bills made an initial bid exceeding 1 Billion dollars for the Bills. I think that the groups are going to come down to Terry Pegula, the Toronto-based Bon Jovi group, and an unnamed L.A. group. Pegula's bid should scare off the pretenders. I'd be curious to know what Trump's bid was. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/buffalo-bills-news/2014/7/29/5950485/buffalo-bills-sale-terry-pegula-jon-bon-jovi-initial-bids *edit* whoops, I meant "Terry Pegula, owner of the Buffalo Sabres made an initial bid exceeding 1 Billion dollars for the Bills." I had a brain fart.
  3. Lucy - 2/10 80 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. Terrible movie with a terrible plot coupled with mediocre acting. The writers and directors need to take a few science classes. Half of what was said was very inaccurate and/or outdated. I feel bad for Morgan Freeman. This film was definitely a money grab on his part. Can't really blame him though. I'd do a short crappy film for millions if I was offered it as well.
  4. Just got around to seeing Transformers 4: Age of Extinction today. - 7.5/10 I really liked the first three, but this one was a bit of a disappointment. It's made almost a Billion dollars and this movie was the first part of a new trilogy so there will of course be a 5th installment.
  5. Miller is a pure positional goalie. That's why he is so good at stopping breakaways and playing in a shootout.
  6. At first he did super, but halfway through his performance took a nosedive. Then after he let in a few soft goals in the playoffs against Chicago his stock crashed.
  7. That's my point. He wanted to go for a cup. Now by the time the Canucks are good enough to contend he will be put out to pasture and lack will be the #1 goalie. Now he will go cupless and will be millions of dollars lighter. Sounds like a win for the Canucks and a loss for Miller....
  8. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. The owner of the Sabres was personally offering Miller a decent sized raise on the 6.25 million/yr. he was already making before he was traded to St. Louis. He declined the offer because he wanted to go to free agency and try to go to an immediate Stanley Cup contender. Now after a poor performance in St. Louis, Miller has lost out on millions and millions of dollars, and will end up retiring before he has a chance to get a cup. Had he stayed a Sabre he would have been playing for a team that in 3 years time will be a powerhouse. Moral(s) of the story: 1. Owners should stay the heck out of negotiations and let their GM's decide who stays and who goes. A huge Miller salary would have come back to bite the Sabres. 2. If you're a player that's past your prime, take the freakin' huge pile of money that you are offered. Now by the time that the Canucks are ready to seriously contend for a cup, Lack will be the starter. The Sabres dodged a serious bullet. Miller is worth 3 yrs. @ 5 mill./yr. because he's a very serviceable goalie, but his hope of winning a cup died with St. Louis' first round exit.
  9. If I remember correctly, after Miller famously got pissed about Lucic in an interview right after the game he was actually pretty quiet about what happened afterwards. His "calling out of teammates" reputation has to do with not being diplomatic after a bad game. If a reporter asks something like, "Ryan, what did you think of the defence in front of you tonight?", Miller would then honestly reply with something like, "It was horrible, our defence was lazy and made a lot of mistakes". He also calls out his own poor play when he has a bad night. He is brutally honest in interviews. He doesn't give pre-canned diplomatic answers. Some people don't like that. *edit* whoops, I quoted the wrong person.
  10. If Miller does sign with the Canucks, then hopefully Linden & Benning will be able to get at least a 2nd round 2015 pick along with a decent prospect for Lack. Develop the young goalies in the system and the Canucks will end up ahead in the long run.
  11. I'm loving it! What's even better is that there will be more pickups in the 2015 draft. The Sabres only took one defenceman in their 9 picks this year. They are pretty deep when it comes to young defencemen. Add even more center/wing talent from next year's draft (Three 2015 1st round picks so far) and the Sabres are going to be a "scary good" powerhouse team in 2 or 3 years time. Fans from other teams can dump on the Sabres all that they want to because exciting things are happening here. We have always been patient with our sports teams and have never had a problem selling out the building(s). I may have to change my banner soon though. Sam says that he wants to go by his actual birth name, "Samson".
  12. That didn't take long. Maybe Miller's agent is using the Canucks as leverage.
  13. He went from listing all of Canada on his old NTC to making an exception for Vancouver. Looks like there was no deal to be had in California and/or he is going to get a substantial deal from the Canucks.
  14. Ehrhoff was bought out the other day. He's a free agent.
  15. Remember these gems from November? Shot right through the bridge/gap of the skate, to win the game in OT. Close up of the shot in Slo-Mo of the shot starts at :38. In this one, also from November, he plays goalie and then shoots the puck down the ice for a goal.
  16. The Sabres are worried about the millions of dollars that would count against their cap if he retires from the game in the next 7 years. Pegula (owner) is worth Billions.
  17. The Sabres owner is a Multi-Billionaire. I doubt that he's lost even a second of sleep over Ehrhoff's money.
  18. I will be thoroughly entertained if Benning signs Miller, Myers, and Ehrhoff. All current/ex-Sabres.
  19. http://forum.canucks.com/topic/361625-ryan-miller-being-wooed-by-canucks-staff/
  20. Exactly. A decent number of people here have no idea about the consequences of keeping a contract like Ehrhoff's. Hell, most people still think that he has to pass through waivers even though he has a NMC which made him immune to the waiver process. I posted a link to an article that explains the whole thing, but *gasp* that would mean reading and comprehending something that isn't in the forum. Some of the more knowledgeable people here have tried to explain the whole thing but others aren't able to connect the dots or are just making posts without reading what has already been written.
  21. Ehrhoff made $18million in the first two years of his contract. That was why he signed his contract 3 years ago. Here's an article on the whole situation. http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/2014/06/tim-murray-to-buffalo-news-sabres-have-started-process-of-buying-out-christian-ehrhoff.html
  22. It has little to do with tanking. That contract was terrible. Ten years with seven still to go. The risk of salary recapture just isn't worth it. It was yet another screw-up from the previous regime that needed cleaning up. *edit* People think that the new lottery is changing the game big time. It isn't. All the new system is doing is making the odds better for the other teams. The lowest that the 30th team can go is to #2.
  23. Ehrhoff's contract was front loaded. He's received well over half of the cash already. He wanted to get out of town badly. With the compliance buyout, the Sabres don't have to worry about his future salary coming back to haunt them when he leaves the game. Murray is just cleaning up one of the messes that Darcy Regier left him.
  24. Once McCann gets into training camp he will be happy to be a future Canuck.
  25. Wow. It almost looked like McCann wasn't very thrilled about going to the Canucks. Weird....
