  1. Uh dump and chase can still be a puck possession, high tempo style of hockey. It is just one way of gaining the blue line.
  2. Can you take a joke? Maybe had a rough day and feeling sensitive?
  3. First, playing some extra minutes in later stages of 1 goal games is hardly excessive, and Torts said that himself he only did so because he had to (to win or give the team a shot at winning). And you're confused about "recognizing issues". Torts softened his emphasis on aggressive play when the Canucks went through many key injuries, and in his words the team just tried to "hold on". His comments on the core being old refers to the larger group of players- you can't blame him for being frank about having to employ a stagnant group of vets. Sure, you might think so but sounds alot like the 2011 wishful thinking. The Canucks need a shake up in a major way and now is the time to do it.
  4. he never wanted to play the sedins those minutes in the first place, but had to in later stages of the game. People/the media are not very good about contextualizing stats.
  5. After Torts interview, no doubt Kesler, Sedins and Bieksa are the heartbeat of the team. Hard to say what to do with him, extension or trade?
  6. For being open and honest and giving the public his coaching perspective on the season? I am absolutely stoked that VAN has a coach like Torts who speaks his mind, who tries to be respectful and considerate yet honest. I don't really care about CDC's opinion of Canuck hockey, I'd rather hear it from a guy who knows a thing or two about hockey like Torts, and he is right about there being a "heartbeat" in the team and management needs to surround that heartbeat with new talent like Kassian and Tanev, Lack, etc.
  7. Kesler may want to stay but at 2 years before he is an UFA, hard to say how much he fits in the Canucks long term plans. Canucks need to transitioning to younger players in their line up
  8. Both Linden and Benning seem to have strong eyes for talent, and I love that Linden/Bruins play a hard hitting 2 way game. Emulating that with the Canucks is #1 on my wishlist!
  9. Really curious who Linden will pick for GM. Could be unconventional by media standards
  10. I agree and like Linden, I think Mike built a lot of solid personal relationships in VAN.
  11. Wha? I'm listening to the conference live on SN and havn't heard anything about Mike/Torts?
  12. So pumped that Trevor believes in defensively sound, hard hitting hockey. Imagining this guy as a coach- you could see guys like Hansen/Higgins/etc thriving
  13. Having a separate president (and awesome one at that in Linden) and GM is actually a good move.
  14. unless the canucks are going to do a drastic re-build I'd like to see someone promoted from within the organization who knows the players e.g. Stan Smyl or L Gilman
  15. that I would be very happy with. blake would know how to build a winning team
  16. If official, better pres than GM. VAN/CDC would eat Linden alive as GM
  17. Dyanmic players are great, but excellent 2 way players are a safer bet down the road value wise. Toews for example.
  18. You guys call call it a dive (which may be true) but who knows-maybe Hank was just tired/lost his balance. Playing any anaerobic sport is extremely tiring. I thought Hank just fell down.
  19. The gong show that is the Canucks is probably only going to get worse My optimism is quickly turning to cynicism
  20. A new GM will undoubtedly affect the style of hockey the Canucks play for years to come. I wonder if the Canucks are going to go with the puck possession style of the Sedins or more in the direction of Torts.
  21. If Torts stays I seriously wonder what sort of backing he will get from the players. Next season could be rough
  22. enought to last a few year because if that happens I'll need some help getting through years of watching a loser team
  23. Any of these fireMG pundits that wants Linden or Naslund hired for GM are absolute morons. If what you want from a GM is a completely unattached, schrewed general manager who will not allow personal relationships to get in the way of making "ballsy" or "bold" moves that some CDC'rs want, then neither of those two are a fit. Plus it would be sad to see either Canuck great ridiculed and slandered by CDC.
