It is with great sadness, and even greater optimism that we have completed these three deals. Absolutely none of these players would be playing anywhere else but in a Rangers Jersey for a great many years if we had all our other puzzle pieces in order. In this era of capology and required depth in order to compete for the big prize, you have to give to get. The Rangers feel that any one of Tom, Christian, Nick or Alexander are great individual players, and we were honoured to have them in our organization, collectively they may comprise a very good group of roster players for any team in the league, and so it was with a lot of thought and effort that they were moved in order to address the core needs of the team going forward.

What we have acquired with John Moore, Brian Dumoulin, Mike Murphy and Kevin Klein is self evident, and yet very important to the club. We have shored up our back end, from the net to the blueline, by adding quality depth to an already highly talented core group. What you don't see in the press releases is that we got bigger, younger, faster with 6'1", 6'3" and 6'4" dmen coming in at an average age of 23. We project these three guys, 1st and 2nd rounders all, to add balance to our veteran experience on the Blue Line.

While Mike Murphy may not be your prototypical young NHL prospect netminder, just watching him play one game will turn your head, as he stands on his. Pure Athleticism makes this guy a standout, and worthy of having on the farm. 21-11-3 with the Checkers in 2010-11 posting a 2.53 GAA and .919 s%. This past season saw him take a couple NHL appearances where he won the dubious record of being the only goalie in NHL history to record a loss in a season where he allowed zero goals against. 36 minutes in net, no goals against, one loss with the NHL's Carolina Huricanes. We believe this young athlete may rewrite the rules on goaltender size, at a slight 5'11" and 172 pounds, we are excited to have him.

We regret having to give up such great talent in order to bring in great talent, but that is the stuff hockey trades are made from. All the best to our outgoing and incoming players for the coming year, and beyond.
