MASON RAYMOND IS NOT 'BLAZING FAST' Have you EVER seen Mason blow by defenders or leave them tripping on themselves because they couldn't keep up (Like Kesler last year)? Have you EVER seen Mason chase down an opposing player who was breaking in on our goalie (Like Tambelini last season)? No. He's an ok skater, enough for him to not get caught from behind, and that's it. Even in the playoffs, a tired Kopitar out-skated him to a puck in open ice, a shift BOTH players were at the end of. Raymond has no more ceiling, what you see is what you get. He isn't going to magically gain hands at age 26 nor is he going to magically gain the guts to go to the dirty areas, since obviously a contract year wasn't enough motivation. Yes, he was hurt, but he was able to play pretty hard for the first week back until he decided it was ok for him to be completely useless for the team for the rest of the season. The only positive he has had is his PK abilities, but we have more than enough players that are as good if not better (Kes, Burr, Hansen, Higgins, Malholtra, etc.). Any time he's on the top six his line simply does not score because he doesn't not promote scoring chances. His hockey IQ is very low, since circling around, taking a wild shot on net or passing to the point is all he can ever do. Get rid of this guy. Don't even qualify him. Last season was an anomaly for both, who have used their great assets many times previous to this season to great effect. Last season is more or less a mulligan. It has to be. Strange days these are in Canuckville right now. Gillis nEeds to take his extension and make some bold moves with this trade. This organization has taken the trade route to make changes in the team cores all throughout its history, so its imparrative that gillis maximizes the potential. He had 2 goals in the ENTIRE playoff run last year, including one empty netter....as a top six forward playing on a line with Kesler who ripped apart Nashville....Raymond sucks.
