[Confirmed] Alain Vigneault's Contract Extended By 2 Years

Who cares if the players respect and like him? I would rather have a coach who Kesler absolutely hates but somehow motivates him and find's him the linemates to put up 40 goals again.

It's natural for players to like coaches who don't rock the boat or question a players routine. We aren't here to cater to the players' needs and make sure it is as easy and comfortable as possible for them to earn their multi-million dollar salaries. We need to push them to perform and better themselves and finally bring a Stanley Cup to Vancouver. That's it.

If that requires a new hard-ass coach that bag skates the players then so be it.

TOWARDS AN AMICABLE DIVORCE WITH LUONGO

May 24, 2012 at 0:51

By Louis-André Larivière | VAT Sports

A few weeks after the elimination of the Vancouver Canucks, Roberto Luongo rumors were confirmed.

In the words of head coach Alain Vigneault.

In a telephone interview Wednesday, one who just sign a new deal that will keep him at the helm of the Canucks for the next three seasons told Sports VAT that Luongo wants to leave the Canadian team, which he has worn the uniform for six seasons.

"This is what he wants now, Vigneault told the TV show" The Match "on Wednesday. And what we must do is [make the best decision] for our organization. "

To believe the words of the instructor, Luongo's fate will be decided probably in the summer. Both sides would then find an amicable solution. The Canucks general manager Mike Gillis himself had indicated, at the end of the season, as Cory Schneider had won a vote of confidence in itself as a goalie.

"We will act in the best interest of our organization, while watching what is best for Roberto," Vigneault has indicated.20120524-005104-a.jpg

Blame unfair

The Canucks were eliminated in the first round series against the surprising Los Angeles Kings, who won the final of the Western Conference, Tuesday.

Although this is the third consecutive year that Vancouver was eliminated by training who reached the final of the Stanley Cup (in 2010 after Chicago and Boston in 2011), Vigneault has brought to the defense of his keeper, that he describes as "guardian of the foreground during the six seasons he was in Vancouver."

"Roberto has been blamed more than any other [for the elimination of the Canucks]. Especially after the defeat against Boston. It was not fair, "said the coach. The latter stressed that the guard remained professional despite the hardships.

Vigneault and CH "rumors"

Between the elimination of the Canucks, the appointment of Marc Bergevin as Director General of the Montreal Canadiens and the announcement of the contract extension Alain Vigneault, several rumors sent the instructor for a second stint with the Canadiens .

But what is it really?

"The rumors with Canadians were only ... rumors. Specialists are allowed certain assumptions and people drew their own conclusions. "

According to Vigneault, Montreal is not the only city where rumors are rampant.

"Rumors in Canadian markets, it's part of our daily lives. This is normal, because everyone has an opinion. Person is not afraid to share them. "

Supporters of the tricolor Vigneault hoped to return to Montreal should not be surprised by the fact that he chose to stay in Vancouver, where he says live a rewarding experience.

"There is no doubt. Vancouver is where I want to lead. It's a city I love, he said. My tenure there, is to bring a Stanley Cup. There is almost here, so we'll see you next year! "

Well, actually I don't disappear when I'm wrong and have made a couple of smaller bets here with some members where I lost and admitted defeat. And AV is not even a betting matter, it's completely obvious what the result will be.

But as I said elsewhere, I think like a businessman about everything because I am one and if Canucks were a company and I was asked if we should trade with them, buy their stock, or put any money on them - I would have to say no. Will they win a Cup next year or any year that AV remains coach? From a business standpoint - no.

By the way, Sutter hasn't won any Cup yet, so if anyone here predicted that they would be wrong.

What a horrible move by the organization....

They better sack a good portion of the team (in lieu of removing one guy) or we mind as well just tank next year to get a good draft pick as we aren't gonna be winning a cup as is.

Team played bland, uninspired hockey for most of last year and eeked out a lot of close games and feasted on a weak NW division to inflate their point total.

So if the coach is staying, I hope to see no less than 5 roster players changed/added.

He needs to let the kids learn from their mistakes when they are playing on the team. Not one mistake and bench their ass to the pine. It is the regular season where you have to learn to put trust in your players and hope they are able to prove you wrong.

How many times have we heard the likes of players like Kesler say it's all about confidence? Crushing a kid's confidence after one mistake is not a great way to help build their confidence in being a better player.

Great, we get to see this turkey ruin more of our young players and play favorites. I cant wait until he tries to "set an example" during a game in which we're either tied, or need a goal, and he benches our best players for 1 mistake and plays the hell out of our 3rd and 4th lines, thats our coach, what a winner.

We're not winning a cup for a long time, the time is now and they bring this moron back, what a waste of the job Gillis did putting a contender together, the coach singlehandedly ruins all of that.

With the right coach, we would have won a cup by now.

What coach could replace what he brings to this team? Under A.V. this team literally skates circles around the other teams in the league, often even when we aren't even playing that well. More than half the league would kill to have him behind the bench. The apparent "struggles" of this past season still earned the team yet another lowly President's trophy and status as one of the highest scoring and best defending teams in the league.... yet again.

Not keeping A.V. on as head coach would have been a short sighted and dumbfounded decision. There is no better coach on the market for this team than him. Paul McClean, Dan Bylsma, and Mike Babcock are the only three coaches I can think of that could come even close to matching what A.V. brings to the Canucks and ironically all 3 of them also bowed out in the 1st round this year.

Under A.V. the Canucks have:

- won consecutive President's trophies

- made it to game 7 of the Stanley cup finals

- had the best performing team in franchise history

- ended the 2010-2011 season as the highest scoring and jennings winning team (one of only a handful of teams to do so and first time since the Habs did so 30+ years ago)

- broke the Red Wings recording setting home-streak

- defeated the defending Stanley Cup champions in their own building after they went two months without losing more than a handful of games

- won games even when our star players were injured or under-performing

- have consistently only been eliminated from the playoffs by the teams who go on to win the cup

- done all of this while continuing to be a high scoring, highly skilled and exciting team to watch in an era of hockey when very few successful teams are able to do so

We got beat out by a hot Kings team that have absolutely destroyed every team they have faced and have only 2 losses in 14 games against the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeds in the West.

Canuck "fans" have it far too good. Anyone who says we'd be better off with anyone besides Babcock, Bylsma, Laviolette or McClean is crazy. Anyone who seriously thinks that MacTavish should be the team's next head coach is an idiot.

Gillis contract's extension ..... check

Vigneault contract's extension ..... check

Next order of business:

1.NHL entry draft (and possible trade)

2.July 1st (free agency market, more signing, more possible trades)

3.Training camp and 2012-13 roster

4.Win a Stanley Cup

Here's my take on the extension, and this goes out to my fellow AV detractors.

It's only 3 more years. That's it. MG believes this is the amount of time AV has to bring it home. In a way, it's an ultimatum. If he can't get it done, he's gone. And if he does, well I'll congratulate him and admit I was wrong, taking solace in the fact that we are cup winners; Cup won, we were wrong, drama over. It's really a win-win.

I can't exert the energy on caring about his immediate removal any more than I can the immediate removal of Luongo or anyone else I feel doesn't give this team the very best chance to get the shiny chalice thingy. One day he'll be gone, and now it looks like it won't be much longer than three years form yesterday. That's something.

And with the goaltender situation being very close to being sorted out, it looks like there is a good chance to have very little distraction next season. Now, what we should be worried about at present is bringing in the pieces/players that will best compliment the core we have now. There's little else that can be done.

I already responded to this post, but as I read it again, it really got me wondering: Lets say the Canucks are a business. In the 2011 fiscal year, we have a company that performed not just very well, but spectacularly for the first three quarters. In the 4th quarter, the business did just as spectacularly until the very final week of the fiscal year when it did poorly. Unfortunate, but as a business, still an extremely successful year.

The fiscal year of 2012 starts off sluggishly. The best thing that can be said about the first quarter was that it was only minimally successful.

However, the second and third quarters show a marked improvement and by the end of quarter three, it can be said that the business has outperformed all of it's compatitors. Not the spectacular year to date that the previous one was, but all in all, a very successful one.

Then comes quarter #4. The business does poorly. Many reasons are given, but none can be stated as the definitive reason. The only thing that can be said for sure is that several of the other top performing competitors have suffered the same poor 4th quarter, suggesting that the problem was not confined to our business alone, but was due to a product advancement by a competitor which had gone through the first three quarters with only moderate success.

So looking back at our business, we have 7 out of 8 excellent quarters and one not very good one.

Are you really saying that this particular business would be a poor investment? Is that what you call sound business acumen?

I'm glad you're not running any company of mine....
