Rangers are very thrilled to note recent addition to the club Jesse Joensuu has been named to Finland's Olympic Selection squad. Jesse, a 25 year old, six foot four winger with a lot of upside at a point per game pace in the SM-Liga and with 15 points in just 67 NHL games thus far. The tough player is very stingy defensively as well, finishing plus2 rated in 7 games with the NHL islanders last season, where he also recorded two points and 6 penalty minutes.

Jesse joins standard Olympian Sami Salo on the finish squad for the Olympic break next year in Sochi. Well Done guys, bringing the Rangers Olympian numbers closer to ten representatives, with not all nations declared as of posting.

Rangers Olympic Hopefuls current number: 8

Thomas Vanek (Austria)

Joe Thornton (Canada)

Jesse Joensuu (Finland)

Jiri Hudler (Czech Republic)

Sami Salo (Finland)

Luca Sbisa (Switzerland)

Mike Smith (Canada)

Viktor Fasth (Sweden)

Nikolay Zherdev a Lion!

HC Lev Praha has made a big free-agent signing, landing 28-year-old Ukrainian winger Nikolay Zherdev. The veteran of 436 NHL games, mostly with the Columbus Blue Jackets, has played most of the last three seasons with Atlant Moscow Oblast. Last season, he recorded 51 points in 68 games, split between Atlant and Ak Bars Kazan, and was a big factor in Ak Bars´s run to the Eastern Conference Final. With Lev, he will wear number 93.
