Otis
Tyson Barrie was the Avs best defenceman last season. Not a high bar, I know, but still, he was solid. A bright spot on an otherwise horrid defence playing over 20 minutes a night. This year, puts up an assist and +1 in their first game in just under 18 minutes of ice. Despite that, he sees his ice drop to just over 15 minutes for their second game, still ends up a +1 on the night. Games 3 and 4 his ice time continues to go down, despite not being on the ice for a single goal against so far this season, and after playing game 4 he's been a healthy scratch ever since. Bah.... No reason Barrie should be scratched, or out of the Avs top-4 for that matter, IMO. On a much happier note... The Detroit Red Wings have assigned forward Darren Helm to the minors for a conditioning stint, the best indication yet he's gained real ground on the comeback trail. :towel:

Same with Prout ..had a great 1st Season now scratched the 2nd time ..he had an off start but sometimes the pressbox helps such players to move up again
canuck2xtreme
Mason earned the 2nd Star Spot while he lost another Game The irony here is that Steve Mason may be the only player in Philly who's actually playing up to expectation so far. He's been very good, but the Flyers have been downright awful in front of him.

canuck2xtreme
Having finally gotten a few things out of the way around the house and am caught up with updates, I'll be going over those proposed Minny trades (finally) and getting back to you guys regarding them. Looking to move out some salary and extra bodies on both the active and minor rosters. Glencross, Setoguchi and Leopold are players who are actively being shopped. Primal Optimist
As a good lesson in how tight the standings are, and how young the season really is, my Rangers dropped from a tie for 6th to 13th in one night of lacklustre performance. canuck2xtreme
From pickup: READ THIS! - we conducted an upgrade last night and it caused an error in the pool calculations. We have corrected the error and are updating the system now. It should be resolved by 12pm PST. We apologise for the inconvenience. No need to email support. Not sure what the error in calculations was or who was effected in our group, if anyone at all, but be aware our standings could be a bit different in a few hours because of it. Primal Optimist
I was tempted to claim Hejduk let him occupy a roster spot, then waive him to my minors in a few weeks because I think he will be a mid season acquisition for a team that wants a midseason push to the roster. RL.
REPORT: Any teams looking to build around young prospects should contact the Detroit Red Wings, as reports are surfacing that top 5 overall pick Elias Lindholm has been made available by the organization in order to get some immediate help. Sources claim that the Red Wings still believe that they have a shot at making the playoffs this year despite being the uber-competitive Division C. Being at this spot in the standings is not new for the Red Wings, as they finished in the bottom third of the standings last season. -TSN
