WAIVERS: The New York Rangers have claimed Tyson Strachan from the Pittsburgh Penguins via waivers.

WAIVERS: The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed Patrick Kaleta from the Montreal Canadiens via waivers.

The Rangers assign Strachan to the bottom pairing and welcome him aboard. We were looking to add a little rough and tumble down there on the blueline and Strachan might fit the bill. Time will tell, but his 17 points the night after we submitted our wiaver claim on him looked impressive, even if we can't have those points, it is an exciting tell of the rest of the season.

A question..., when one trades for a player or players, one may assign the acquired players to the minors if they were in the minors on the original team, yeah?

oh and the further question...can any player acquired by trade be assigned to either team, the big club or the minor one? Or would waivers have to be used?

Yeah.

If the player was on the active roster on their original club and require waivers to be sent down, they must clear waivers in order to be placed in the minors.

Waivers were put in place to keep players in the NHL.

A claimed player is either assigned to the pro club or waived to the farm.

If he is waived then the team he was claimed from has first dibs.

The New York Rangers

Three Stars: November

FIRST STAR

JOE THORNTON

Joe brought it all to the ice this month, hands down earning first star honours as he collected 68 points, however the beauty is how he collected them. 3 Goals, a PP Goal, an overtime assist, 13 assists, 3 PP assists, a shorthanded assist and 12 points from plusminus rating. The long list of accomplishments for Movember does not include a single penalty minute. Gentleman Joe Thornton's 68 points once again show why he is our Top Line Center and First Star of the Month!!!

SECOND STAR

ANDRE SEKERA

Andre was acquired this offseason to bring some high octane two way play to our blueline. He did not disappoint in Movember. His four goals include 2 power play and a shorty, exactly what we envisioned here at Madison Square as he totalled 63 points this month. Three assists and 16 points from plusminus along with 8 penalty minutes round out ANDRE SEKERA's second star month.

THIRD STAR

JAKE MUZZIN

Jake enjoyed a great rookie season last year and is rounding out his game this year very nicely. In the first five days of Movember Muzzin had six assists, two of them on the power play, and 10 points from the plusminus. He also had 12 penalty minutes and was temporarily assigned to the Connecticut Whale to allow him time to collect himself and come back hungry. Jake was called back up two days later and collected another 4 assists and 10 plusminus points over the rest of the month while only putting up another 12 penalty minutes. His combined 54 points while tightening up his penalty minutes was enough to earn him third star honours in a tough field of competition. Well done for a player who only last night played his 78th big league pro game.

Honourable Mention: Patrick Bordeleau. Patrick tallied 47 pool points in November, but don't be fooled to thinking his 30 Penalty Minute points make him a goon. Two goals and an assist along with 8 plusminus points show this young player is responsible and can chip in. Our coaching staff has him over ten minutes of icetime the last three games and Patrick is showing he deserves it. Playing 46 games last year in his first NHL season, Patrick Bordeleau has already surpassed his goal total and is an incredible +5 with more icetime vs his rookie season of -7. I am looking forward to seeing where a mature Bordeleau will go on our adventure through the season. One to Watch. (*Incidentally Patrick came over with Andre Sekera in same offseason trade that moved out Nick Spaling and so far we are impressed with both men, and thought they both deserved mention in our Stars of the Month)

The Blues finished 23rd in November with 639 Points

Well this does not include the 5 Points from Torrey Mitchell last Night.

Further i m still missing 2 Pims from Brian Gibbons from last Weekend.

Dont know if the 4 Points (+2) from Volchenkov will count because the LITR Confirmation of TJ Galiardi came way later than than the LITR Activation from Anton.

Best case we would finish with with 650 Points or 646 without Volchenkovs Points in November.

The Habs are very happy that November is over. Montreal had the 3rd-lowest monthly total with 590 points, but with the return of some healthy bodies the team is currently T-10th-with their current weekly total which is giving the Habs faithful something to look forward to as December rolls around. It's amazing what having your best players like Rick Nash and Brent Burns in the lineup can do to a team...

^ your improving while I am stalling out. wonder if we will meet in the middle? haha

You still had 70 -80 Poins more than me in November...depend on if i get those missed Points or not.

The Blues are still fighting with inconsistent Scoring and Icetime of their Players ..specially in the Top 6 Section.

Ehrhoff still needs to step up ..he had 35 Points in October and 33 in November.

Gorges and Hodgson stepped down - 20 and - 13 Poolpoints compared to October.

Galiardi stepped Down -22 Points untill he got injured.

November and early October Hero Bournival was a scratch last Night...moved Down from 39 to 25 Poolpoints in November.

Goc only had a + 17 because of his Game Misconduct and a Total of 17 Pims in one Game...solid though.

Guys like Tallinder , Erat , Bergenheim and Spaling moved up.

Morrow was 28 Points in October and 26 in November..so quiet even.

Weiss .....no comment.

I really have to thank Mason , Gelinas , Legwand and Borowiecki (48 Pims) that the November wasnt a full Desaster.

Its kinda funny that 2 Rookie Defenders holding the Blues Flag high.

If all works fine ....the Blues could have a 800-900 Points Month...but inconsistence is killing us if it continues.

Tampa 3 Stars

3rd Star:

Dan Boyle, 73 pool points

If Boyle wasn't sideline for a few games, he most certainly would be in the Top-20 in Defensive scoring. With 4 goals and 4 assists in November, Dan was second in team point production behind only Victor Hedman.

2nd Star:

Victor Hedman, 83 pool points

While Hedman's PIM production is down, we'd gladly trade it for the offense he is putting up thus far in the season. With 5 goals and 5 assists in November, including 2 GWGs, Hedman is now T-15th in Defensemen scoring. Victor is really becoming a leader in our organization and we hope he continues this maturation, as we have committed to him for 4 more years after this season.

1st Star:

John Tavares, 72 pool points

With 7 Goals and 10 Assists, Captain JT had the best offensive production on a team that has be short of scoring. His 30 pts overall ties him for 5th overall in the leagues Art Ross race.

Assignment: The Washington Capitals assign Tim Erixon to the AHL.

Recall: The Washington Capitals recall Simon Despres to the NHL.

Hey Curt,

Just reminding you that I made this roster move a couple days ago.

I think Despres earned me a much needed fantasy point last night.

Thanks in advance commish!
