The Bad news Bears, err Rangers Report:

Matt Stajan missed a few weeks after the extremely sad loss of his newborn child early this month. We declined to comment because, frankly, there is nothing that can be said about such a tragedy. Last night Mike Smith left the game with an injury to his right knee, we hope that he can make it back before the end of the season, and Jesse Joensuu will spend the remainder of the season on LTIR along with Sheldon SOuray who will not play at all this year, and could be facing the end of his career following two surgery's last summer and this January. The upside is that as a team, we continue to put daylight between us and the chasing Capitals and Penguins, although it will be tough to keep that up with the loss of Smith, we expect an update on his condition this afternoon.

Washington Capitals lose top rookie Chris Kreider for the remainder of the season

Losing a player who has been so vital to our team's success all season long will obviously be tough. Chris has really come into his own for us and has been a catalyst all season long while carrying a significant chunk of the load offensively. He will be greatly missed but this injury will just serve as another obstacle for our team. We have fought adversity and have continued to battle through significant injuries all year in order to keep pace in an extremely competitive conference. So many guys have stepped up for us at different times and in different ways. I am so proud of my players this season and wish them the best of luck down the stretch run.

During Chris Kreider's Calder Trophy candidate performance this season he amassed 17 goals(tied for 3rd on team), and 37 points(4th on team) in 66 regular season games.
