Salmonberries
Nuns, Orphans Trapped in Syria's Maalula: Church DAMASCUS (AFP) -- Nearly 40 nuns and orphans are trapped inside a convent in the Syrian Christian town of Maalula, where regime troops are battling rebel forces, the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate said Tuesday. The famed town, where residents still speak Aramaic, the language Jesus Christ is thought to have spoken, has been the scene of clashes since earlier this month. "The Mar Takla convent is living through painful days because it is in the middle of the zone where fire is being exchanged, which makes getting supplies difficult and dangerous," the Damascus-based Patriarchate said in a statement. "The generator has gone out because of the fighting, halting the supply of water to the convent and threatening the lives of those inside," the statement added. It issued an "urgent appeal" to humanitarian groups to "ensure the necessary supplies to residents of the convent, nuns and orphans who number close 40 people." The convent is located half-way between the hills of Maalula, which are still under rebel control, and the centre of the town, which has been retaken by the army. Syrian opposition forces, including jihadist fighters, took control of Maalula on September 9. Three days later, the Syrian army entered the town, seizing back parts, but failing to secure it entirely. Picturesque Maalula, nestled under a large cliff, is considered a symbol of the Christian presence in Syria. Since the fighting began in the town, most of its 5,000 residents have fled to neighbouring villages or to Damascus. http://www.aina.org/news/20130924145158. Salmonberries
There's also the extermination of Christianity in Iraq, Syria and Egypt. Exterminating Christians is an important value for the American regime and I think it's safe to say that the Great Anti-Christ has achieved an exciting goal in Syria.with too much expenditure. Salmonberries
In what way is the US responsible for civil war in Syria or the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt?
Dittohead
They are supplying arms directly to the Al Qaeda rebels and have even been threatening military action in Syria. Have you not been paying attention? As for Egypt, they pressured Hosni Mubarak to step down and replaced him with the Muslim brotherhood. Condi Rice called this despicable mid-east policy of theirs "creative chaos." They have undermined stable, secular governments accross the region. Libya, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, their goal is to sow instability and to work toward the radicalization and the Islamization of the populations. And it's workin'! mdehaan
1) The US has not given anybody weapons yet in Syria. The rebels are all armed with weapons from Saudi Arabia and weapons they've taken from the Syrian army. There are some unsubstantiated reports of the CIA giving weapons to moderate elements with the rebel groups, but even then, not to jihadists. 2) The Muslim Brotherhood was elected. The US was initially oppossed to Mubarek stepping down. Once he started opening fire on protestors, the US called for an election. You'll also notice that the US has been silent on the army taking control again and deposing the elected government. 3) Jihadists have not taken over in Iraq....yet anyways. 4) The US had a relatively minor role in Libya. 5) The US just removed the Taliban...kind of contradictory to your stated goal.
