Mason Raymond

Actually, it would seem that offering Raymond a contract would have been the screw-up since no other team did so. Apparently, the best he could get from the NHL was a tryout offer from the Leafs.

Luongo/Schneider - Gillis can't be blamed for the new CBA including punishment for contracts signed under the old CBA. No team will take a player at a risk of punishment. Ownership (i.e. Gillis' boss) also clearly wanted to keep Luongo.

Keith Ballard/Michael Grabner - This was obliviously a mistake but the mistake was not giving up Grabner, but rather who we got in return and how he seriously under-performed. Grabner was out of shape in the offseason and was also waived by the Panthers.

David Booth/Michael Samuelson - Considering Samuelsson was riddled with injuries and would have been bought-out by Detroit if he wasn't injured this past offseason, we can call this a push now except Samuelsson is 36 years old and will be lucky to be on Detroit's 3rd line. Booth is 28 years old and still has a good deal of upside. No screw up here at all.

Hodgson/Zach Kassian - Right now it looks like a mistake but this trade is still to be determined.

So yes, like all GM's he has made mistakes but at least raise attention to "screwups" that are actual mistakes instead of looking like an illogical troll.

Most-sheltered forward on the team last season besides Schroeder, who's a rook.

Something tells me his back will be a concern for the rest of his career, which is why he wasn't signed. Not even Feaster wanted him.

Nonis giving him a tryout seems like a favour.

Best of luck, MayRay. But it doesn't look good.

More than willing to part with him and give a spot to a more effective, less broken player.

and I disagree about not being able to trade Luongo due to his contract. Its obvious that by giving Schneider a 3 yr deal at 4 m that the team was prepared to let Luongo go. The real problem was that GM MG overvalued Lou and after a year and a half, still could not trade him. THAT was MG's fault. If ownership wanted to keep Lou, they would have put a stop to all the trade BS a long time ago.
